I had reconstructive surgery on my knee for a torn ACL. My experience with Dr. Shapiro and SCOI has been fantastic under the circumstances.

From the very 1st appointment through pre-op, surgery and the 1st follow up, we have been very impressed with the professionalism and the timeliness of the whole office. The whole team has been respectful, listened to our concerns and answered them in a way that we could understand.

I chose Dr Shapiro to do my shoulder surgery after my wife used his expertise for her completely shattered shoulder. He took excellent care of her. So when I new it was time to get my shoulder rebuilt, he did an excellent job on me also. And his PA Carrie is just as knowledgeable and takes the time to evaluate your condition. I would highly recommend Dr Shapiro.

Great helpful Doctor

Dr.Shapiro was very clear on the procedure he performed on me. He made me feel comfortable with the way he would do the surgery. His follow up after the surgery has made my recovery easy and stress free. I would recommend the doctor to family and friends.

Dr. Shapiro has performed two surgeries on me and they have both gone well; his knowledge and explanation of what needs to be performed is clear and concise. His entire staff is fantastic!!!!

Dr. Shapiro and his PA Carrie Alejandro are very kind and compassionate. I feel they were very thorough in giving me choices in my treatment, always made sure that I was comfortable and I’m very pleased with my care.

Dr. Shapiro and his Staff were all great in answering all my questions and concerns. I had a large tear in my rotator cuff and a tendon tear. He gave me a video of the procedure and explained everything in detail. I highly recommend Dr Shapiro and his staff.

I'm appreciative of Dr. Shapiro and staff for helping improve my quality of life. Dr. Shapiro was kind enough to return my phone call same evening after surgery to ease a concern I had with nerve blocks. I must admit, I was rather surprised, and most of all grateful he called. I've been through 6 orthopaedic procedures the 43 years previous, I've a fairly good idea how the logistics work, and I was and so pleased with the follow up care received through the Get Well site and the staff's help, to reiterate. So looking forward to starting PT 14 days post surgery and getting back to work on my home, and life, with the confidence of regaining, hopefully 25-50%+ of the range of motion I lost through time and injuries. In the words of Bill Shakespeare, "A Thousand Thanks," to Dr. Shapiro and staff at SCOI for helping me move forward in such a positive manner with the confidence of knowing I've got a great team willing to give me the best care possible. Total right should replacement was done. Extremely professional surgeon. My recovery and pain has been better than expected due to his great work.

Dr. Shapiro performed left shoulder arthroscopy two weeks ago and everything went very well. He provided a copy of a narrated video of my procedure that showed the issues he found and the repairs he completed. It was awesome! I’ve had zero issues so far, no swelling and am extremely pleased by Shapiro’s work. His entire team are super friendly, helpful and provide great service. Without any hesitation, I would recommend Dr. Shapiro and his entire team to anyone experiencing shoulder issues.

Have had problems with my left shoulder for some time so went to see Dr. Shapiro. His knowledge is unending and he explained everything as we went along. First tried a steroid shot—didn’t really help. Then got an MRI. Discussed another shot but he felt my shoulder was such that another shot wouldn’t help! So We decided on surgery. Then hit a CT. Surgery went as expected and I am now in OT. Even though I’m an RN it’s always great to hear everyone at the hospital say Dr. Shapiro is the guy to go to for your shoulder! He is knowledgeable, has an excellent bedside manner and is so respected! That’s why I chose him.

Total left shoulder surgery 5 months ago. Still going to physical therapy. It appears that the surgery is an success.

Great service, caring and answered all questions

Very caring and professionals Plus your comfort and understanding of what’s going to happen. After my Anastasia on my arm. They asked my wife to go to the waiting room. Laid me from a sitting position to my back. Five minutes pass alarms went off. My heart rate dropped , alarms went off. The head nurse and three other nurse ran over instructed me to take deep breaths. Keeped coaching me to take deep breaths. They brought my wife in and explained what was happening. Three minutes passed heart rate went back up. My wife sat their with me . Ten minutes went by my heart rate dropped once again nurses ran over instructed me to breath deeply. The head nurse told my wife and I that’s it canceled my surgery . That it happens again I would be sent to the hospital. Three minutes went by heart rate was normal again. They keeped a eye on me for a hour and a half. Instructed me to go to my primary doctor. I told the head nurse it would take two weeks to see him. She called my doctor got him to in

Outstanding doctor & surgeon. Super smart, competent and compassionate.

Extremely knowledgeable in his field. Great bedside manners, meaning he really is concerned with patient and takes the time to answer questions one might have. In our case he was so concerned about me that he cancelled first operation due to concern of an infection and waited for infection to clear, before proceeding. Spoke volume about him.

Dr. Shapiro was very informative and told me everything to expect and explained everything.

Dr. Shapiro, is an excellent surgeon. I had a constant shoulder pain for 40+ years. Doctor Shapiro took the pain away with a complete shoulder replacement. Now my shoulder feels like if I was a 20 year old again. Surgery was June 1st, 5 months later I can throw a ball. I highly recommend Dr. Shapiro, my only regret was not seeing him sooner.

I have attempted to make an appointment with the Dr. and I can't leave a message on their system. I called about 15 times and the answering system said it didn't recognize my response. I even called their system start at the hospital, and told them I couldn't get his system to work, they put me back in the same place with no working system. Since his staff refuses to answer a phone I don't see any way to use Dr. Shapiro.

Dr was good. Surgery went very well and the Dr listened to me and answered some of my questions. However the office I am not happy with. Very poor communication. Office is very busy and I respect that but I feel that because the office is busy and so are the doctors you become a number and get lost in mist of this busy office. I had other issues that we not addressed and my all over care was not great . I felt that my best interest of care was lost . Overall Dr was good but that is it.
