Tom Cushing

I have had pain for the past decade-or-so, and didn’t expect too much from my appointment with Dr. Cushing. I have seen so many doctors, specialists, etc. in the past several years and have been largely unimpressed with many of them (regardless of whether they offered possible solutions). However, I was pleasantly surprised at how personable Dr. Cushing was. After talking with me for quite a while, addressing my concerns/questions and suggesting advice for next steps, he apologized for not being able to help me more. He acknowledged that I was “sitting here in a lot of pain” and that he had no answers and that it “isn’t okay.” I was so shocked at his compassion (something I’ve not experienced from many medical professionals, if any) that I started to cry, and I thanked him for acknowledging that, but reassured him that his advice and guidance had been helpful. He was not only informed and knowledgeable, but he took the time to explain things and answer my questions – I didn’t feel rush

Referred to Dr Cushing from a doctor in Alamogordo. Dr. Cushing had a great manner with my 3 year old (who was the patient) and did his tests and evaluations in a timely manner and worked around the grumpiness of my child. Cushing explained his diagnosis in layman's terms so it was easy to understand his findings and the future steps we need to take. Recommend him highly.
