Dr. Timek is by far one of the best! His demeanor, attitude, skill, bedside manner, you name it he is absolutely spot on. He's the surgeon you're hoping for if you ever gotta go see him :)

In 2013 when I was 43 years old my aorta actually ruptured at home in Muskegon around 11:00 at night, after watching the evening news. To make a really long story as short as possible, the hospitals in Muskegon couldn't pull a team together to do surgery for me there. It was snowing so hard they could not air lift me to Grand Rapids, so they decided to put me back into the ambulance with a ruptured aorta and keep me alive until I got to Spectrum. There was a whole group of people at Hackley hospital that were praying for me to make it to Grand Rapids and Dr. Timik even made the comment after the 1st surgery was done that he didn't know how I made it there in the condition I was in. Thankfully, my brother in law is a surgery technician at Spectrum and was able to help pull a team together with Dr. Timik as the surgeon to save me. I am one of 2% of people that survive and incident like this according to Dr. Timik. After being in surgery for around 10 hours he had repaired my ascending aorta and I was alive. 3-4 months later was scheduled in to open my back up and repair my descending aorta and here I am 4 years later getting ready to go in for another follow up visit. I have nothing but wonderful things to say about Dr. Timik and his staff and the entire hospital at Spectrum and am thankful to God that they were all there to help me survive. I had an aortic valve that was barely working, and a 7.6 cm aneurysm on the upper aorta. Because of the extra strain on my heart (because of the bad valve) it was severely enlarged as well. I went into the hospital unable to walk, and emerged much stronger. Today, four months after surgery, my heart is functioning normally, and I can engage in the activities of my choice.
