I have been a patient of Dr. Vaids for a while now. I appreciate how direct and upfront he is. I prefer a doctor who tells me as it is and that is exactly what Dr. Vaid does. His staff is always friendly and helpful. In my experience, he is honest and very caring. After finding Dr. Vaid I will never switch because I know that I am getting the best care. I can only speak about my experience. Doctor Vivek Vaid should have lost his license to practice medicine years ago. I went to him for a check up in the past. A week before my appointment to see this doctor, I had gone to another doctor who checked my pressure. It was normal. When I went to Dr. Vaid, my pressure was 140/90 so he indicated as I never saw the reading. However, that is not considerably high. When asked by the Dr. about life circumstances, I told him I had lost my job suspecting that was the cause of elevation, as during that time, I was stressed. A week prior to that, my pressure was around 120/77 when I visited another doctor, which we all know is normal. I also shared this information with Dr. Vaid. The fact that this doctor would put me on blood pressure medication after a reading of 140/90 is insane. How can I have high blood pressure if a week prior it was normal and a week later, it was only elevated? High blood pressure is only considered high if it goes up and does not come down and there should be three readings taken over a period of time to determine if the patient should begin taking meds. If the pressure is still up, then doctors usually put the patient on meds. Dr. Vaid only took one reading, saw that my pressure was elevated (not sure if his statement was true), then put me on meds, not to mention that he recorded my pressure on my medical chart as 140/100 rather than 140/90 to justify putting me on meds. He also gave me a shot of something in my buttocks that I didn't have a clue what it was, nor did he explain what it was prior to giving it to me, and to this day, I still don't know what it was. When I asked if I should monitor my pressure at home. His reply was "No." I understood the reason for that reply. It was because by monitoring my pressure at home, it would only confirm what I already knew, that I did not have high blood pressure. What doctor would not encourage a patient to monitor their pressure at home for their health and well-being? Dr. Vaid also prescribed additional meds that were for another patient as I learned this information when I went in to get a copy of my medical record so that I could report him the Board of Physicians along with presenting my medical/ blood pressure history to the Board for the past several years while under the care of another doctor to show that my pressure was only elevated (if really true) and not high when I saw Dr. Vaid, and particularly since I had already had a reading a week prior which was normal. I can only assume the Medical Board of Physicians dealt with this; however, it appears that his persona is still very much the same. I was, however, relieved from the medical bill, so if nothing else, the Medical Board took care of this which was good. Dr. Vaid has been sanctioned in the past if you research his health grade under the “background check” category. This doctor is also very disrespectful and says things that are inappropriate. In fact, I think he is a dangerous physician. He put me on 3-4 meds. I should not have been taking any of the meds because my health was fine and these meds were for another patient. I began to have severe panic attacks as I began to wean myself off the meds. Obviously I did not trust him enough to go back to get assistance with weaning and consulted with another physician, Dr. Vali, in Silver Spring, MD. Dr. Vaid is not an honest physician, and I believe he took advantage of a vulnerable situation in my case to make his pockets "fatter." Good physician, great care

Listens to his patients needs and offers honest common sense solutions to health problems

My father in law, who is 90 years old, is a patient of Dr. Vaid for past 20 years and Dr. Vaid has been kind, compassionate and extremely knowledgeable and takes interest in my father in law’s wellbeing. He never leaves any stones unturned when it comes to making sure his health is intact. My whole family goes to him we are so grateful to him for being our primary care physician!

First off, Dr. Shalini Vaid is NO LONGER at this practice. I was not told this when I made the appointment, and was not happy to be seeing her father instead. Dr. Vaid was extremely critical about my history of taking the pill, saying that it doesn't treat cysts (it does, that's why I started), is "unnatural," and I should alternate the pill with "alternative" birth control. He was dismissive and didn't write me a new scrip for my bc. I was very uncomfortable and will not return.

This Dr. is knowledgeable however he does not have the best social skills when communicating with patients. He had me in tears after reading lab results in a way that made me feel as if I was going to keel over in a matter of minutes from a slightly above normal reading. He would say things like "you are gonna die in 10 years or by the age of 50." His answer to obesity was a quarter sheet slip of paper handed to you that only allowed you to eat "baked white fish, salad and green vegetables. No milk, No butter, no oil, No salt, No bread, No potatoes, no eggs. No fruit juice." The office was painfully slow when it came to seeing you for an appointment the lobby wait time was on average of 45-90 mins. With no explanation. Then an additional 20 once in the room. On the up side his office does connect with a labcorp so if you need lab work it is right there. The equipment in the office is dated but appears to still be in good working condition. He is often rushed so if you can quickly tick off your questions you are in luck but have tough skin as he is very short and snarky in his responses. His daughter Shalini is better but not enough for me to remain a patient there. I've walked out of the office on a couple of occasions from the extended wait even with an appointment and I just could not put up with his rudeness. he is not a good fit for a woman but if you are in good health and once a year go for a check up he may work for you. Dr. Vaid and all the staff members feel like an extended part of my family. I have never called during an emergency for an appointment and been turned down even if that meant he had to stay after hours. He is the type of doctor who cares more about the health of his patients than making money and that is a rare find now a days. I have been a long time patient and look forward to many more years under his care.

I have been a patient of Dr. Vaid's for almost 20 years now. I have never had a bad experience in all that time and know my health has greatly improved under both his care and recently his daughter's care as well. The staff are friendly and welcoming, the office is tidy and clean. He spends time with you and clearly explains what must be done to achieve healthy goals and works with you to reach those goals. I would recommend him to everyone and often do.
