Do not trust this Dr or the Staff at Santa Monica GI. 1919 Santa Monica Blvd Suite 200 , SANTA MONICA, CA. I was referred to Dr Katkov by Dr. Krems for a routine preventative procedure, however the staff,or the Dr , decided that this was a diagnostic procedure(I have no symptoms or reason to think I would develop any) so that they could charge more(and only partially covered by insurance)I contacted my insurance and they agreed that this is a preventative procedure (covered 100%) and that I should be wary of an office that is intent on billing me otherwise. The Dr never responded one way or the other, so I just assume he doesn’t care If He sees me or not. i was referred to dr katkov by a trusted dr paul crane. The excellence of the latter referring me to Katkov gave me great confidence. Not only was that met but was exceeded by dr katkov. His, staff, administration and his managment on the day of my procedure of nursing and team exemplified his team work. His feedback and consultants were graciously informative and expeditious where one would wish. i highly recommend he and his team i was referred to dr katkov by a trusted dr paul crane. I have never met a doctor or front office who is more irresponsible about providing test/scan results back to a patient or returning a phone call. Its been over a week, 3 messages have been left and still no call back. Highly unprofessional! I would give 0 stars if possible.

I completely agree with the person who said find another doctor. This may have been the worst experience I’ve ever had with a medical professional in my life. I went to him complaining of severe abdominal pain and explain my family history of IBS and Crohn’s disease and my symptoms. He ordered a colonoscopy. He did not take the time to speak with me before or after the procedure. He kept me waiting and the nurse told me sorry he got too busy you can go home now after the procedure. He failed to return my calls and when he did he told me that they found nothing wrong during the exam which was different than what I had ever heard before from my other GI Doctor who unfortunately retired. Since the exam I’ve received no less than five different bills relating to anesthesia, preparatory nurses, the exam itself, the lab work afterwards, and for the facility itself. I have excellent PPO insurance and yet have still paid over $2000 for a colonoscopy which had absolutely zero results and the doctor did not care one iota about helping me or my condition . He is strictly there to order exams and make money without regard to the results of the exams or helping any of his patients. Stay far away and find yourself another doctor. Dr. Katkov is extremely knowledgable, thorough, takes the time to speak with you and really listens. He is thoughtful and he and his staff have excellent follow through. I cannot recommend him highly enough. He has been my doctor for many years and I've referred many friends and family members to him, all of whom have been very happy with their experience.

I read the reviews here as part of my research when I was looking for a doctor to conduct a colonoscopy for my 81 year old mother. As the negative reviews didn’t reveal specifics AND her current physicians knew of and endorsed Dr. Katkov, we went with him. We are very glad we did. He took great care of mom, listened to all our concerns and did a great job. Is he busy? Yes. Can he spend hours discussing the Art of Colons? No. But that’s not what we needed - we need a pro, and that’s what we got!

He saw me fast. Which is the only good thing. I was in terrible pain and he would not return my phone calls for five days. He lied to my general doctor saying he called me when he didn't. Why he would lie I have no idea but it says something about his character. Also you will never talk to anyone only vm. The people working the front complain they are under staffed and can not handle all of the calls and Drs.

This doctor is careless and makes serious errors which endanger patients. He rushes through procedures. Avoid him.

I was referred to Dr. katkov by my main physician Doctor Sachs. She told me that he was fantastic, and she was absolutely right. He was kind patiant and willing to to here my concerns. Both he and is staff are amazing specially his nurse and right hand women Lisa. Thank you Doctor Katkov and Staff. Erik Butler

My wife and I were both struck by the efficiency and the friendliness of this office. We only waited about 2 minutes before being called in and every person we encountered was extremely friendly. Dr. Katkov let me fully express my concerns about my health situation and he listened intently. He was warm, knowledgeable, thorough, and made me feel like I was the only patient he had to see. Best encounter with a medical professional I have had in a very, very long time.

Dr. Katkov and his staff made this an effortless experience! I recommend him to everyone as he has outstanding bedside manners, as well as amazing experience!

I believe I am in the majority when I state that I hate colonoscopies...at least the prep for them, but Dr. Katkov makes the rest of it easy and painless. He and his staff treat you with respect and dignity. They understand that while it is routine to them, it is not routine for you. My husband and I both go to Dr. Katkov and we recommend him. Dr. Katkov has been an excellent physician for me, my father and my husband. His staff has been very helpful too. I completely trust him and highly recommend him.

I have had the pleasure of being a patient of Dr. William Katkov for the past five years. He is outstanding in his field and has an extremely pleasant bedside manner. I am even looking forward to my next visit to his facility this December.
