My whole experience thus far with Emory’s Psychiatric Dept / Wesley Woods, Dr Adrianna Hermida and the infamous Mr (Dr) Tunes (inpatient Psychiatrist @WesleyWoods) a doctor you don’t even get the “pleasure” hA, of meeting until the patient has been admitted to the Psychiatric Hospital @WW. ThiS in itself, is a whole other story tht I won’t go into @the moment. Let’s just say, do yourself a huge favor google Dr Tunes. Check hiS reviews The reviews of his alone r quite laughable, sadlY. His credentials might be quite impressive. However, you eventually witness first hand that the reviews are spot on. This man within the first 5 minutes of discussion with him & a few of my immediate family members lacks any real empathy or compassion for either the patient much less the patients family members. In any event my real concern and now complaint @the moment is after having my mother go thru roughly 6 or 7 sessions, why is there not a doctor to talk discuss my mother’s progress or lack of progress w ECT. Who is the doctor in charge of the TRD program on a whole? A Dr McDonald? Has he or any doctor for that matter come to speak to either my mother during these treatments or myself sitting in tht pitiful waiting room for hours? A phone call from the Dr’s office in reference to my mother’s treatments? An update discussion ? anything? No, absolutely nothing. 4 weeks we’ve been driving @WWoods every other morning @8am until roughly 11:30, 12:00 or later. Not once have I, nor my mother been approached by a doctor. Not once. Further more, my mother is considered High RisK It wasn’t until this past Friday (June 5th) morning prior to my mother having yet another ECT treatment( 6th or 7th) that I finally demanded to speak to a doctor in charge. Dr Hermida (whom I assume is my mother’s Psychiatrist I have no real idea any more) finally spoke to us just minutes before my mother was to be rolled into the anesthesiologist room etc for a treatment. I have to say, sadly in my mother’s case at least, we have yet to see any real improvement as of yet. I discussed w Dr Hermida as well as Dr Tunes, as well as its written in my mother’s paperwork prior to any ECT treatments, prior to any other medications, my deep concern I’ve had with a medication my mother has been taking for over 25 -30 years for an essential tremor. A secondary problem The medication I’m referring to is Mysoline (Primidone). A Medication tht states when researching Primidone, causes not only severe depression, but agitation, confusion, poor or lack of daily decision making, among many other horrible symptoms. That all along thiS medication could be contributing to her depression. I discussed my reservations in the beginning and brought it to their attention. More over, would the treatments (ECT) even take any real effect or work? Dr Hermida & Dr Tunes Without AnY mention from theM that it could very well contribute to her problem with this depression and that possibly weaning her OFF all together of this Primidone or at the very least significantly lowering her dosage before starting ECT treatments might be the key to at least a lessening of this horrible debilitating depression. Not even a mention of possibly trying to wean my mother OFF this medication FIRST before putting her through so much more on top of a medication that could interfere with having any real significant improvement with ECT to begin with. Primidone is an anti seizure, anticonvulsant medication. How could ECT treatments even work properly? Simply, “Well, lets just try this and that along w her other medications. So what happened next?... After stating my frustration, disappointment with Dr Hermida in the Neuromodulation room briefly w my mother not feeling any real improvement, any lift w any of these sessions that at the moment I’m very disappointed my mother nor I have not received any real feedback /attention during these ECT treatments. Dr Hermida said simply that she thinks “in the best interest for your Mom, is we should find another provider.” ???? ????????????
