Physical medicine and rehabilitation, also referred to as rehabilitation medicine, is the medical specialty concerned with diagnosing, evaluating, and treating patients with physical disabilities. These disabilities may arise from conditions affecting the musculoskeletal system such as neck and back pain, sports injuries, or other painful conditions affecting the limbs, such as carpal tunnel syndrome. Alternatively, the disabilities may result from neurological trauma or disease such as spinal cord injury, head injury or stroke. A physician certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation is often called a physiatrist. The primary goal of the physiatrist is to achieve maximal restoration of physical, psychological, social and vocational function through comprehensive rehabilitation. Pain management is often an important part of the role of the physiatrist. For diagnosis and evaluation, a physiatrist may include the techniques of electromyography to supplement the standard history, physical, x-ray and laboratory examinations. The physiatrist has expertise in the appropriate use of therapeutic exercise, prosthetics (artificial limbs), orthotics and mechanical and electrical devices.

I fired Dr. Xavier Ng of Core Pain Management. I never met the man in person or via telemed. Instead, he called me, over the phone. After being chastised by him because he couldn't reach me, I reminded him, for the 3rd time that I work during the day. I asked that he set an appointment for me. He refused, but agreed to camm before 9 a.m. or after 4 p.m. Each month, he chose to ignore my request. Dr. Ng stated I would receive calls from him, every 30 days. Instead he called anywhere between 33 and as many as 42 days. I had 2 different doctors put me in a medication that didn't work. I told him as much, and the first med he prescribed was that one. He asked for my pain level each month. I'm not sure why, because the following month he would say he was glad I was doing better, when I fact it was much worse. He treated me like I didn't matter. He and his practice are a joke. A sick joke. My neurosurgeon agreed he should be fired, as did I. He called me last Friday evening. Chastising me for not answering his calls during the day. I informed him I would no longer need his service. He said "good luck" and hung up on me. Then called me again the very next day and started in with chastising. He failed to remember our conversation the previous day. Pathetic. Horrible, irresponsible, uncaring, and rude "doctor". Do NOT accept a referral to this man/clinic. I have several other grievances, but he's simply not worth my time nor my money.

If you like guessing when you're next appointment is and if your prescription will be at the pharmacy when due, this is your facility. Doctor has called after 7pm and as early as 7 am on a Sunday. I believe on a holiday once too! If you like calling and calling to dicuss issues, whatever it might be, to only get vm from a recorded message that admits the system is broken and not always monitored due to lack of staff, this us your place. If you want to be frustrated all of the time, this is your place. There's more but would strongly suggest you keep researching and find an office that is ran like an office and not a cheap motel on south Broadway.

So given my wonderful history and issues I have seen a number of Dr.s and never till now have i had a Dr. spend time to explain the different areas that all associate with pain. The staff is A1 and super patient. Yes the process took some time but worth every minute. Dr. Ng listens and then explains how he is going to get me to a 2 and thats all i hope for and pray. He really helps you understand how medicine works and how to keep it working, and also to go over outside help other than medications which is something else I have sought for and needed. Thank you to Dr. Ng. and the entire staff I have never been treated with such respect and patience than this before. 8/15/2023 so I want to add to my review especially after reading some of these negative ones and so people know real time. The staff there though changed a little has been nothing but awesome. I have many issues and injuries. He spent over a hour explaining how medications work and what the plan was he simplified it for me. When I have come to obsticals such as finding out what I thought was returned arthritis in my knee landed up being my whole knee has to be replaced which explained why shots wore off quicker and quicker to the point to walk all the time hurt. When I asked what can we do he asked my opinion and he explained why a lessor med but increased might work better. I was skeptical but you know what it works. When I’ve had a flare up he has allowed changes even just for a week or two and never has been negative. His vast knowledge after seeing so many pain clinics which are in my opinion horrible his clinic concentrates on my needs and quality of life. If you’ve ever worked in health insurance etc workers comp has an expectation and they push like hell to end treatments and is typically not the dr in turn. I have experienced zero difficulties even if I’ve seemed pushy I’ve never been pushed away. So with note added I would highly recommend him over another certain Dr in Hutchinson Clinic.

I told him I have arthritis and osteoarthritis and that is causing the pain. Wouldn't listen. And he only like certain pharmacy too. Plus when tell him what your orthopedic will do he doesn't ever believe what you say. I told him that what they have said still doesn't believe me what so ever and he doesn't give you no pain medicine either just exercise well that makes worse he doesn't believe me what so ever when tell him the truth. So I blocked him. No body should be treated like.

I have now been with Dr. Ng for about two years. I have had over 26 abdominal surgeries that have caused me to have a lot of pain issues and many other health issues. I went to see Dr. Ng because I had to have my stomach removed and some of my intestines and after that I was in so much pain that it was unbearable. I had seen a pain doctor before I found Dr. Ng and that Doctor would always just make me take more meds. Well Dr. Ng and Faye actually listen to patients and make sure they are getting better if we are not, they find out how to make things better, I mean they have literally saved my life. They have both gone so above and beyond it is not even funny. Dr. Ng and Faye have had to make medical decisions for other doctors because if they didn't I would have died. These two wonderful people are gifts from god, and if you have any issues with pain you can trust and believe they will not sleep until they help you.

Horrible, I was abandoned when his prescribed dose didn't touch the emergency pain I was experiencing. Staff said he has 700 patients, how can he be fair to anyone? If you have an emergency he doesn't have time for you. He spends all his time on the phone treating oatients he's never seen face to face. Very convenient with pandemic to take 700 patients on wirh televisits. The pandemic is over, what are you afraid of, oh, you could never pull off 700 patients in your office in a month. At 20 patients a day doesn't even come close to seeing 700 in a month. He's soread too thin, & if your body or level of pain doesn't line up with his protocol, your out the door. He abandones you before he kicks you out. He doesn't know what's best for me, he doesn't even know me & he acts like he's got all the answers, well guess what, you don't! If only you could feel the firey burn that's constant, maybe then you could have compassion.

Been a patient for over a year now. He truly is the Best Doctor I have had and not just a pain Doctor either! Listens to me about my pain on top of that he's always asking about my life in general. I really believe I can talk to Doctor Ng about anything going on in my life. Would definitely recommend him!!

It took over three weeks for them to finally get with me. Then they had to do a drug test, said if hear back in a few days, it’s been over two weeks for that as while. Have left messages with but have had no response. This whole process has been over two months now. And who knows how much longer I’ll have to be in pain before they even return a phone call, let alone help me. It took over three weeks for them to finally get with me. Good conversations with Dr. Ng... He calls me asking me how I'm doing with the pain but doesn't stop there he asks about my life in general. He actually makes me feel like he completely understands what I'm going through in life. Only had one time where I've been waiting for a prescription refill. Been with him over a year now!

I've been with Dr Ng for close to 10yrs now. He is and has been the ONLY pain management provider to ever fully listen to me and treat me as an individual person. He personalizes my treatment plan to fit my individual medical conditions. He has always been respectful, caring, compassionate, empathic and supportive of me and the progression of my condition. He's always willing to listen to any fears or concerns I may have and give me his honest professional advice on what options are best for me. Me as an individual. I know I keep saying "as an individual," and that's because I want people to know that Dr Ng truly does treat each and every one of his patients as the individual that they are. My quality of life improved immensely when I became his patient almost 10yrs ago. Another thing I love about Dr Ng is that he does NOT push or try to pressure me into having unnecessary procedures done or to repeat procedures that didn't work for me. If one of my other medical providers suggest I need a certain procedure or another surgery, I can confidently ask Dr Ng what his honest medical advice on that specific topic is and know that he's going to give me the best medical advice for my individual needs based on my individual needs and history. Yes, I know that I repeated myself a few times in my review of Dr Ng. And again that's because I really want people to know that Dr Ng is one of those hard to find doctors who actually listens to his patients, asks them questions about their lives so he can get to know them better, which helps him put together a more comprehensive personalized treatment plan for each individual patient, is easy to talk to about any fears or concerns a patient may have, doesn't try to push unnecessary procedures on his patients, gives his honest medically based opinion based on that individual person's needs when asked for his advice about different procedures or treatments suggested by other medical providers. I can't emphasize enough just how much Dr Ng has improved my qualify of life or begin to describe the overwhelmingly positive impact he's continued to make in my life over the last 10yrs. With the way things have changed for chronic pain patients over the past 5 years or so, chronic pain patients truly need more pain management providers like Dr Ng.

If you're a workers compensation patient, stay far away. He is a long established Doctor, working on behalf of the insurance companies to plummet your medications and kick you out the door. A lot of his old patients have documented this fact, on many sites he's reviewed on going back years. I asked to be taken off stronger medication. I was entirely compliant. I've had a half a dozen major surgeries and need more. None of this mattered. He still forced me, to plummet my medications, as he seemingly does to all his workers compensation patients. He didn't care about the problems it caused, the pain I was in and how much this reduced my quality of life. This is one of the numerous reasons I've seen, that he's so poorly rated, on every single site, he's reviewed on. He does not care how much pain you're in. Your valid medical history doesn't matter, you being 100% compliant doesn't matter, you even telling him you're putting your trust in him and know, he has an ify history with workers comp patients and telling him you're going to trust him, doesnt matter to him. He will do this to you. He's been doing this to work comp patients for years. Your pain and suffering doesn't matter to him. I walked out of his practice early on, because I knew of his history. He wasn't even interested in my file and was talking about massive, medication reductions, before he even opened my file. He absurdly stated, everyone should be able to be on the same amount of medicine. I've never heard one single Doctor, Specialist or Surgeon, ever state this or anything even close to it and in fact, they have always stated the exact opposite. That different medications and doses, work differently, for different people. He also seems to have no perspective, on how many have left his practice because he wasn't handling their care properly, all of the ones whos medications he intentionally plummeted no matter the hell he brought upon them and their lives, then, when they can't handle it anymore, he claims they're uncompliant and sends them to another Doctor. He makes no changes to his extremely absurd and poor perspective of pain management, the insurance companies, send their workers comp patients here and from everything I've seen, he does this to endless workers comp patients in a revolving door system. He ensured me, if I gave him a chance, things would be done properly and I'd get fair treatment. This didnt happen, I should of just trusted my instinct and found another Doctor off the bat, but he ensured id get proper care. He gave me the whole just sleep and exercise routine, just as he's told others, as if you can do either, undermedicated and having that situation, constantly exacerbated, by it going further and further down. He's also told me if I don't like what he's doing to just go somewhere else, just as he's told others. He has an extremely narrow minded, absurd and unrealistic view on pain management. Gender, Race, Age, Height/Weight, Severity of Pain, Type of Pain, Condition(s) and other variables, all come into play in pain management. Different medications and different doses, work very well for some and not at all for others. Despite all of the negative reviews over the years, across many sites, all saying the same exact things, from many different people, he continues to provide poor care to his patients, with egocentric responses to go elsewhere if you don't like it. Well, a lot of your patients have gone elsewhere and others will continue to do so, because they're looking for a better Doctor and better care. If you're a workers compensation patient and you're being sent here, you'll easily see all the bad reviews, going back years, across many different sites, all stating the same exact things. Dont waste your time. Demand a new Doctor. If you're a workers compensation patient, stay far away. Dr Ng may be great at just handing out pills.. but as far as true patient care he is HORRIBLE with it.. He doesn't remember prior visit information.. talks over you about random stuff and then takes 10 minutes to talk about your regime.. and their "billing office" is a joke.. not filing claims correctly or in a timely matter.. This Dr. just takes in whoever. He can't tell you apart from another patient. After seeing him about 6 times he did absolutely nothing for me. He is a pill happy Dr. Who has no idea what medicines he has already put you on. He is definitely paid off by work comp people or by pharmaceutical companies (thats why he pushes certain drugs like a drug dealer) and his only care is about his pocket book. If I went in right now with no chart he wouldn't know if I was a new patient or an old one. His staff is also very rude. I waited for this Dr for ever and he was never on time. He literally never once did a full exam or even care to look at my injured areas. Like most of his other patients have said he doesn't listen to the patient. The last real Dr that was in this building was Dr Watson. He actually helped people and care about you as a person. When Dr Watson passed away we lost a good Dr. Unlike this terrible Dr NG. This Xavier Ng needs to be investigated and someone needs to check out the money trail. This is by far the worse Dr Ever. Ben going there for years, very good doctor, he really cares, and takes the time to listen, and understands, wouldn't want any other doctor....I have read some of his reviews, and seen someone saying he just gives out medication, first of all....This is a pain management doctor, not a family doctor.......He does NOT just hand out medication, He is there to Help people who have tryed EVERY THING ELSE, He is there to help people who have Cronic pain, that nothing else helps work, There is people who want a quality of life, not to live in pain, every single day of there lives, these people go to a pain doctor because they have tryed everything else, so, he is there to help you, I suggest to this person who says these things about him, if your expecting a miracle, good luck with that, and, if your not in pain, then go to your FAMILY DOCTOR.. I've been a patient of Dr Ng for 7 1/2 years now. He's been the first pain management provider to truly and fully listen to me since my injury 15 years ago. He explains everything he going to do and why he's doing it. Prior to becoming one of his patients, I had 2 lumbar spine surgeries, 2 right knee surgeries, a left shoulder surgery, 2 neurostimulators implanted, and my appendix removed. The 2 pain management providers before Dr Ng never helped me through the recovery process of each surgery. Since becoming a patient I've had my gallbladder removed, both hips replaced, a 3rd lumbar spine surgery, the 2nd neurostimulator removed, and in 11 days will have my 4th lumbar spine surgey. Dr Ng has made sure to help me through the recovery process of each and every surgery I've had as his patient. I've seen Dr. Ng for a couple of years. He's always been attentive to my medical needs. He thoroughly reviews any changes to my health and whether or not my prescribed medications are working as prescribed. This is the worst doctor I have ever seen! He doesn’t care about what you say or how much pain you are in... he is extremely inconsistent.... He doesn’t know what he has already put you on or what has and has not helped! All he is worried about is making sure you are exercising and sleeping... I don’t get sleep because of the pain so he increases sleeping pills... fix the problem not knock me out! He is also VERY rude and says if you don’t like what I’m doing for you then have work Comp find you a new doctor! This is the worst doctor I have ever seen! He doesn’t care about what you say or how much pain you are in... he is extremely inconsistent.... He doesn’t know what he has already put you on or what has and has not helped! All he is worried … More

I’ve been to many pain Managemt docs over the years but this is the first doctor that actually knows how to prescribe meds and how they work on our brains . He’s doing things correct and that means a lot !

I would not recommend this Doctor. The customer services is rude and snippy and wont give you any information, he doesn't listen to patients and is way too pill happy. Not pleased AT ALL.

She will not listen to your pain , problems and don't diagnose or find ways to help or improve . If you expect to live with pain everyday , then she be your doctor to call. If you looking for cheap and dirty clinic these will be your place also. PAY FOR WHAT YOU GET

Office and doctor staff have been extremely professional and well organized. I've seen several doctors at this facility and I've been pleased with all of them. No problems with insurance or scheduling.

I like the fact that he listens to the fact that it is important to me to stay as close to holistic medicine as I can. Even tho because of workman's comp. I am forced to drive from Texas to Kansas for pain management. Which usually takes me several weeks to recover. He understands.

Today I saw him and even though I had filled out the new patient info, he did not know a thing about me and we spent the whole appt repeating info on forms I feel he should have read ( I arrived well over an hour befor appt) I left his office with exercises to do (I have had months of phys therp) he told me come back in 2 wks. I already feel he does not care. Toilet could not flush. Did not send me to one that did. Did not seem sanitary

I was forced to see this so called "Doctor" by the Insurance Company, even though with my Workers Comp plan (Defense Base Act) I was suppose to have the right to choose my providers. From my records to my treatment everything this man did was far from ethical and bordered on criminal. Listing medications I had never taken , accusing me of taking a 10 day prescription from a different surgery for 90 days. He even referred to me in the third person as " You Guys" are all the same. Stay away.

Every visit I have had so far has been a horrible one.Mistakes in my script have been made everytime.Mistakes in scheduling are routine and have to be corrected. The front desk has been extremely inefficient and rude to me when I caught they're mistakes and try to get them corrected.l always have to spend twice the time of the office visit due to they're own errors.Dr. NY is rarely on site to oversee the staff who often are so rude it makes me want to just walk out and try and find a new doctor.

My Workman Comp insurance provider has required me to use Dr. Ng to manage my chronic pain, which is treated through the use of narcotics. Unfortunately, Dr. Ng makes treatment plans that he never gets quite right. Routinely, if the error-laden scripts can be fixed by phone, I'm the one who makes the call. However, he has called me to say that one of the new prescription could react adversely when it comes into contact with some of the other medicines he has authorized.

I am incredibly dissatisfied with my level of treatment. I never get a phone call back (even when there is a serious condition), I don't trust his judgement on medication conflicts as he doesn't take into account my medical history even after reviewing it prior to a new prescription. Currently, I've been waiting nearly 12 hours for a return call without any sign of my 'trusted' doctor. I am incredibly dissatisfied with my level of treatment.
