My son has been seeing Dr. Appiah for skins conditions and several keloids that had to get removed from behind his ears. Dr. Appiah is very knowledgeable, caring, and detail oriented. I highly recommend her if someone is seeking dermatology care.

Literally the worst experience ever. I had an appointment at 3:30, wasn't seen till 4:45 and was only seen for 10min just for her to automatically say Accutane (did not ask at all about my history of acne or what my goals were). It felt so rushed, not to mention my pharmacy have tried to reach her 3 times to refill my prescription. overall SO disappointed. 0/5 stars if I could. Literally the worst experience ever. Arrived on time for a 10:30 a appt. I waited in the waiting room for over 2hrs and still wasn't seen by the MD. The front desk staff had mixed up my paperwork and the order in which I were to be seen. I sat there watching them the entire time as my paperwork was placed in the wrong basket. The excuse was that the MD was very busy and running behind on caseload but i saw people who came in after me be seen and leave over and over again. It didn't make sense. I will never go back to this office again. They need to get rid of the front desk staff. Arrived on time for a 10:30 a appt. Waited over 40 mins for the receptionist to "verify" my insurance. Waited another 50 mins to see Dr. Appiah. She spent 5 mins in the exam room with me and was extremely rude, aggressive, and not helpful. I would not recommend her to anyone and do not trust her medical advice.

On July 24th, 2020 I had a procedure that went exceptionally well. After being self conscious about my overly stretched ear lobes, Dr. Appiah sewed my up seamlessly. My recovery has been rapid and I am thrilled with the results. Absolutely satisfied and ready to stop wearing Clip on earrings. Thank you.

I went on this office to get my warts remove. the receptionist told me that the procedure was not covered by my insurance. When I called my insurance, I found out that no one in this office called my insurance. Very disappointing. The worst thing is when I saw Dr. Appiah. She checked me then she get the whatever she was holding and started spraying it on my face without explaining anything, and without sanitizing my neck and face. I later found out it was nitrogen to freeze my warts. She freezed some and did not finish them, then telling me to come back. I think she freezed some warts just to say she have done procedure so she gets pay. Hungry for money. You can tell she is not concern at all. Do not come in this office. I should have listened to my gut after reading so many bad reviews. Sadly, I did not. I made an appointment specifically to see Dr. Appiah because my primary care physician had referred me to her. Yesterday, Dr. Appiah’s office called to change my appointment time. No problem. I get there today and, after having me fill out all the forms, the receptionist tells me that Dr. Appiah is not here this week and I will be seeing another doctor I’ve never heard of. I was furious. A well-run office would have advised me of this change when they called to change my appointment time, instead of pulling a bait-and-switch. I walked out. There are many good doctors in the DMV area. No need to settle for a poorly-run practice like this one. When there are *multiple* bad reviews, there’s a reason. Save yourself from high blood pressure and go elsewhere. I would love to tell you about my experience with the doctor, but I didn't even make it into the practice before I was turned off! A front office staff is the first impression of any business and therefore a very critical part of operations. I attempted to make an appointment at this practice as a new patient and unfortunately the receptionist was so rude that I actually changed my mind. There are several dermatologists available within my insurance plan and I felt if I had to deal with such difficulty making an appointment, I could only imagine how terrible the experience within the practice would be. I do not have to put up with such unprofessionalism when there are dermatologist everywhere that know how to train their staff to be courteous. If ever you work in a customer service position and you do not feel inclined to actually provide customers your service, you should take some personal leave until you feel like you can give your job the best effort it deserves. That will spare undeserving potential clients having to deal with unnecessary attitude and keep your employers from losing business. I was very disappointed as the doctor was rude and acted like I was bothering her by coming in and making an appointment. This was about 3 years ago. So, today, I actually need to see a dermatologist again and looked up this doctor even though I didn't like her. I wanted to see if anything had changed with the practice. Then, I saw all of these negative reviews with similar experiences to mine so I had to say something and I will be making an appointment with another dermatologist NOT in this practice. I have been going to Dr. Appiah for more than 10 years and in my view she is excellent and highly skilled. She does a great job removing moles, cysts, and treating other skin issues. And anything she has removed for me has healed nicely. In comparison to other dermatologists that I've been to, I view her as the best by far. I actually don't live in Alexandria anymore (I now live in Anne Arundel county), but I still drive there because I don't think I could find anyone else as good.

Timely and efficient. Very thorough with examinations. I have been a patient for over 5 years. Dr. Appiah is personable and proficient in her field of dermatology. The staff is pleasant. Both offices are clean, modern and appeasing to the eye. If you want a dermatologist that you can trust, try Dr. Appiah!!!

I've known Dr. Appiah many years ago when she was practicing in a multi-dermatologist office in Alexandria. When I found out she established her own practice, my family followed her. My sons and I are patients of hers. We find her bedside manners to be authentic. She is very pleasant with us. Her practice has grown over the many years and that is telling of her professionalism and knowledge in her area of specialization. We like her a lot. Her staff are also nice and friendly.

I found the experience with this practice to be outstanding -- kind, professional, courteous, and fast. The receptionist did a great job of helping me get my records up to date. The technician reviewed my information and asked about any concerns - great job! Dr. Appiah is everything that you can hope for in a doctor -- she listened to my concerns, conducted a thorough examination, and provided me detailed instructions regarding some minor treatment. Start to finish, an "A" Grade!

I have been going to Dr. Appiah for over 5 years (for alopecia, mole removal, facial/mouth rash, cold sores). I've always received excellent, thorough care. She takes the time to answer all of my questions and has a wonderful "bedside manner." The staff at the front desk and assistants are all very friendly and professional. The office is usually very busy but it houses multiple doctors, so don't be too alarmed by a packed house. Wait times do get longer at the end of the day, so schedule a morning appointment when possible. I had Dr. Dronavalli on one occasion. He was also very thorough and professional. He was a little quicker and to the point, but that is to be expected. Not once was anything prescribed or sold to me that wasn't needed. Just don't be afraid to ask questions while you're there. Dr. Appiah is the best dermatologist I've ever had. My child's pediatrician advised us to see a pediatric dermatologist with John Hopkins. I knew the best place to take her was Dr. Appiah. It was a great decision!! It was worth the 2-hour drive. She is incredibly knowledgeable of her field.

After struggling to get rid of my Parioral Dermatitis. (facial rash) I went to see Dr. Dronavalli. Since this had happened before, I brought in the empty box of ointment prescribed by my former dermatologist (no longer in my insurance plan) Because previously my rash had gone away in 5 days of the antibiotic and ointment. Dr. Dronavalli said his recommended the ointment, ELIDEL. He said it was much better than mine. He then handed me a free trial coupon for what was a $460 prescription for this ELIDEL stuff. However, in fine print it read I would have to cover what my insurance would not, bringing my new total to $360. My previous ointment was $45 and $10 for the generic. He said he thought I had a few things going on with the rash, but didn't elaborate either. He then prescribed me a facial wash, that burned my face so bad I stopped after one try. (luckily I only paid $10 for that prescription) Obviously, this practice makes its money on the Pharmaceutical kick backs for writing outrageously expensive prescriptions. I ended up only using the antibiotic prescription, Doxycycline recommended for Parioral Dermatitis. Dr. Dronavalli told me and I quote "The bottle says take the antibiotic with food, but ignore that, you can take it any time." For two days, I took it before breakfast and was sick to my stomach for 3 hours. Third day I took it with food as indicated and was fine. What Idiot Doctor tells you to ignore the drug warnings. Something deep down told me to cancel this appointment ......#1. because the reviews I had previously read and #2. I just did not feel like she was skilled enough in the area I needed. So i gave her a chance anyway. When i walked in the waiting area..the room was packed to capacity, there was no seating. It seemed like she was way overbooked. I filled out my paper work standing up, to me this is not good business. So after about 35 min , i was called back...the medical assistant asked very basic questions about my hair loss issues.. i proceeded to tell her a little history but she did not write anything down. After she left , it took the doctor about 20 min to come in... When she came in , she starts talking about blood work.....WTH! ask me about why Im experiencing hair loss.. take a sample of my hair....look at my hair through a microscope....SHE did none of that...She stated I could have scarring from a relaxer... Oh really? I have not had a relaxer in over 10 years....and I never experienced any burns or bad relaxers in my past... But whatever! if you say so Doc! Then she says one of my treatments will probably be Rogaine, but I will have to take it for the rest of my life.. Seriously? How can you say this will be one of my treatments when you have not done anything but pluck through my hair. And Ive heard Rogaine is a HORRIBLE treatment... Oh and by the way this was my second consultation and it was the worse. I will not be going back , nor will I recommend anyone to see her. She is not skilled in "hair loss" like she claims. I am very disappointed and I paid her for what? NOTHING..Thanks for NOTHING! Something deep down told me to cancel this appointment ......#1. because the reviews I had previously read and #2. Things must have changed since the last two reviews! If I could give them a negative star rating I would. I was lied to about my insurance coverage on TWO occasions. I was going in to have several areas of my skin to be screened for skin cancer. I was told they could only check four areas as my insurance only covered that many. Not know any better I went along with it. When they called to tell me that I had skin cancer and that I needed to have the areas surgically removed, I was lied to AGAIN about my insurance. They stated I could only do one site a day. This seemed fishy...I called my insurance found out that that is not the case and that I could have had more areas checked then the four they stated were covered. This is a business that does not care about their patients, only what they can charge the insurance company and get for in co-pays. I would not ever consider recommending this clinic to anyone!
