Dr. Abraham G Thomas

When I came to Doctor Thomas in 2015, I was laid up on the couch unable to mow grass or walk across a huge parking lot where I worked as a CAD designer, without stopping multiple times to ease the pain of walking upright. He was my last consideration before back surgery. My original problem was from a dead lifting injury to the L4&L5 transverse Herniated disk in 1985, when I was 22 years old. Over the years, Chiropractor’s keep me going through the rough times, until this time they just couldn't help. After I got the first day injection, I didn’t get any relief and thought there was no sense and getting more, but my wife talked me into continuing. After the last shot, there was a huge improvement. I was able to walk upright, and was back to my normal activity, but over a period of about 6 months I still had moments of pain, usually from bending or lifting, or laying in bed to sleep. So, I thought maybe I should get another set of shots. So, I did, and after these last set of shots, I was truly pain free. In 2017 I got my licenses and started my own business as an appliance installer. I can move heavy appliances in and out of kitchens. I work on my knees or up on a step ladder to install microwaves. I’m not afraid to lift, though I’m always aware of my old injury, and I don’t lift with my back, but I have never felt better and consider myself 100% fixed, nor do I consider myself limited and I’m still doing the same work now in 2022. When I first met with Doctor Thomas, he was straight forward with me. He is Sincere and honest and truly cared for me. I highly recommend him to anyone suffering from a pinched nerve or herniated disk. My layman understanding of this, Is the steroid injection will dry out the inflammation fluids that cause the pressure on the nerves, and this doctor is highly skilled in getting it exactly where it needs to go! “OFFICE STAFF “are horrible, first day when they called me to schedule my visit, as a patient I had many concerns and questions tried to address they didn’t want to take time answering my questions , after several attempts to get a clear answerers ,disrespectfully they hanged the line, these office are NOT helpful, NOT trustworthy, rushing patient to sign a bunch of paperwork without explanation, otherwise the doctor was totally helpful.

Dr. Thomas is absolutely amazing. I never thought a pain pump would improve my life so drastically. I am able to do things I could not do over a year ago. Not only that but for me it's also like having Viagra on demand. Dr Thomas is so very compassionate, he true cares about each and every patient. He is not that in and out doctor. We always have a good conversation and a laugh on each visit. If you are in pain or just tired of pain pills you will NOT find a better Doctor in Houston to help you. I went to Dr. Thomas' office as a referral from my orthopedic surgeon. I had asked them to call me with an estimate of what I would have to pay out of pocket. I never received a call. When I showed up on the day of the injection I was surprised by the high amount that I had to pay. When I addressed this concern with the billing rep, she did not apologize and basically told me, "this is what you have to pay and if you don't, you can't have the procedure done." So I paid it. I should have left. During the procedure, I awoke from whatever sedation with a horrible pain and massive headache. I tried to tell the medical practitioner there that "something wasn't right" as I was in such great pain and all she told me was that it would go away and to drink coke. I pretty much felt rushed out of there and went home with a horrible headache. 1 month later, I had surgery and come to find out, I had a dural tear and CSF leak which my surgeon had to repair. I am sure it was from the injection.

Dr. Thomas and staff are lovely but I had to wait an hour for my 8:30 appointment, (yes, I was on time,) and then 1/2 hour in the prep room. It looked like they were overbooked or maybe even taking people out of appointment order. Because of the long wait my driver missed her college classes that day. The first injection was no problem, I had an 8 am appointment and there was only a brief wait. The lesson learned is book the first appointment for the day. I received a in injection from Dr. Thomas yesterday. This was the first morning in a long time that I did not have to go through an elaborate ritual just to stand up straight without horrible pain. I am very happy with Dr. Thomas and his staff. Thank you so much for this day. I had forgotten what it was like to feel “normal”.

Dr. Thomas, I see that some patients have not been happy with you, which I can’t understand. I have been seeing Dr. Thomas for a few months now and I have never seen any of the things that patient have said disrespectfully about him. This doctor has a heart ❤️ for people and the pain that they are going through. Also, out of all the bad things I’ve heard, I’ve never heard one patient say how he hurt them and that’s a good thing. You can’t make everyone happy and that is okay. If you want a doctor that sits with you and will even laugh with you as his head is thinking how can I make this patient live a normal life again, then this is the doctor you should be making a part of your well being. If I could give them 10 I would!!! The office staff Brenda and Marisol are the sweetest, warmest, loveliest faces you see there. They are always smiling and make you feel good about your visit. If you are hesitant, don't be. Dr Thomas is The Best. I had concerns before my visit but he made sure I would not have any concerns. The procedures went so well and I am so very very happy. This Doctor literally saved my life. I had RSD - look it up if you want to be scared to death - no cure, NO doctors even wanted to touch it - most would not even admit I had it. 3 highly regarded doctors wanted to do incredibly complicated back surgeries with 6 months of rehab yet NONE of them promised it would get rid of my RSD - the end result for someone with RSD? Often suicide. NO, I am not exaggerating. Dr. Thomas said that he would work with me and with one shot while I listened to the Rolling Stones he changed my life - and probably saved it. Want to save thousands of dollars? A lifetime of back surgeries? Rehab for months and months? Go see him. Yes, this sounds crazy but it happened. I have been to several pain specialists for back pain. Dr. Thomas is caring, concerned and the first to really help my pain. I cannot have surgery due to having MS so pain therapy is my only option. The fact that Dr. Thomas studied under my neurologist makes him even more reliable to me and that is why I drive an hour and half to see him!

This visit was a joke. I was referred to Dr. Thomas to get a steroid injection for my neck and he refused to do it, stating that I need to have surgery. "Sorry that's not what you wanted to hear". Nevermind that both an Ortho spine surgeon and Neuro spine surgeon both said a conservative approach is the way to go. Don't trust this guy to make decisions above his pay grade for you. If it were not for Dr. Thomas I would be in a wheelchair at this point in my life. At 53 years of age I have been able to travel around the globe because he took the time to find what would work best for my pain, and I have now been with him for almost 12 years. Doctor Thomas and his staff are friendly, courteous, and put up with all of my shenanigans, my constant and repetitive late times to my visits and yet he is still caring and considerate of what it takes for me to get there. He has met many of my family members and constantly asks after my children my husband and my parents as well as friends who have taken me to his office. I had been having pain on my right hip and my right side and saw Dr. Thomas for it. He diagnosed the source within minutes and immediately after my injection , My leg felt anew. Hands of a Healer. I have been a patient of Dr. Thomas for over 10 years now. I was referred to him by my Rheumatologist and have been happy with the care I receive from him and his staff. I have Epidural Steroid Injections to help control my back pain and have recommend Dr. Thomas to many people throughout the years.

I'm not sure why anyone would give Dr. Thomas a 1-2 star rating. This doctor delivers with his skill and therapy. I received a series of 3 back injections .Before my first injection, my pain was so severe laying down even that I would cry. But now after receiving his care, I am able to walk and move without the pain I once experienced. If you are having back pain, stop trying to cope with it and stop it at it's source. Dr. Thomas is the answer. He has increased the quality of my life dramatically and would refer my friends and family to him. I also want to mention Nora, she works the front desk and is so amazing. Had a procedure scheduled at the hospital. Checked with the hospital the day before. Nothing scheduled. Called the office twice. Was told that either his nurse or he would call me. Nothing. Day of scheduled procedure. Nothing, until 5:13pm I get a voice mail telling me they want to reschedule next week. I'm done with this office. Another week in pain, wasted. It's only my opinion but the physician should put his patient first. Many from which to choose. Don't need this.

My lumbar discs turned in their notice several years ago. I explored surgery with a number of doctors. None offered hopeful results. I was referred to Dr. Thomas for pain management by my cardiologist some years ago. Dr. Thomas conducted an extensive medical exam including an MRI. Based upon his findings he prescribed the epidural steroid injection procedure. My relief from pain was immediate. I was able to resume daily exercise including regular morning swims. Dr. Thomas repeats the procedure as needed...up to a year apart. Best of all, I require no narcotics for pain relief, the ESI alone suffices. My lumbar discs turned in their notice several years ago. Dr Thomas and his staff are wonderful to work with. they take the time to explain and ensure you understand. They are professional and very friendly. When you walk in his office you do not feel like just another patient, they make you feel welcomed and glad to see you.

Because he doesn't treat my pain as well as he used to. He understands that I can't tolerate the amount of medication I need for my pain in the pump, yet he doesn't give me any oral medication for break through pain. He will not authorize the lidocaine patches I need to help my pain. I've been diagnosed with a degenerative disease, and had several surgeries to help alleviate the pain and condition. I am looking for another Dr, because to him it's about money., not the patient.

I have been a patient of dr. Thomas for 15 years. He has always shown an interest in my case as well as my personal well being. He keeps up with the latest medical info. His staff is always helpful, efficient and cheerful. Even when people aren't. I highly recommend him. Mel flynn

I would highly recommend Dr. Thomas to anyone experiencing back pain. He is a very compassionate doctor who places his patient medical needs ahead of insurance matters. He takes a wholistic approach. It is evident he truly cares. His pain therapeutics program is also excellent. I was apprehensive about the techniques at first, but quickly realized the benefit. I highly recommend this program if you have chronic or acute pain. I've referred several people.

WOW!!!!, I would be bedridden if not for Dr. ABRAHAM THOMAS. For over 10 years he has kept me upright through his knowledge of chronic pain. He is easy to talk with and his personality is easy going.His staff is wonderful. I have never had any schedule problems or cancellations by his office. I have recommended others to this SAVIOR!!. Dr. Abraham spent less than 10 minutes (probably less than 5) with me during my consultation. Had me back 2 days later for an epidural injection without any further explanation of the treatment, further recommendations for how to help improve and then they wanted me back the next week even though I had significant improvement. This office is focused on how fast they can get people through. Finally, they over charged me and after nearly a month I still cannot get them to refund the almost $150 that is owed to me.
