I don't understand why the person above gave one star. Doctor Hart was Fantastic yesterday. He performed a nerve block at Saint Luke's for my shoulder. His bedside manner was incredible. His team was talkative and funny. Unfortunately due to the anestesia I don't remember all their names. I think the one guy's name was Umberto. He too was fantastic. Super personable. When we have surgery, we first go to a room where we undergo preparation. One of the first things done is to start an IV that relaxes the patient and causes them to be much less aware of what is being done to make the surgery possible. This takes a few minutes to have its effect. In my case the IV was started, but minutes later the anesthesiologist noticed that my condition had not changed. Upon inspection it was found that the IV was not dripping. He and a nurse restarted it successfully. However, instead of waiting a second time for the drug to have an effect, he swabbed down my thigh with what appeared to be iodine. It was applied liberally and quickly burning my private parts. Then he inserted a block in my thigh while I was still fully conscious. I'm sure this process should not produce as much pain as it did.
