Ann Elaine Smelkinson

Penn Medicine is somehow billing routine visits to Smelkinson as "emmergency" visits to Blue Cross resulting in an extra patient co-pay. I fought with Penn Medicine, but my appeal got rejected with no explanation so I just paid the $40. Seems like outright fraud to me, I'll never go back.

This is a post from Elise Weinreich (not Steve Weinreich} I was a patient of Ann Smelkinson. Recently I notoced a change in her demeanor. I feel she has become cold and was very rude to me. I was so upser that my husband had to take me to the hospital. I will change to a different physician.

Saw the nurse here, and she is super nice and great. But, I have literally never been treated worse by medical admins. I was literally sobbing on the phone because of an insurance issue and hung up on because I was "raising my voice." (It was hard to talk because I was crying after being yelled at for calling the woman ma'am and not listened to!) This same woman was very abrupt and rude both times I came in-person for a medical visit. Seems like she's very put out that she has to do anything with patients. The great medical staff is not worth how poorly you'll be treated by the front line staff.

I always feel listened to when I see her. She is a excellent Dr and I get wonderful care. I also appreciate that I can get my lab work done at her office.

Very disappointing.I came today with my handicap husband for checkup on the right date and right time that we got by them but the receptionist told us that the appointment is cancelled in their system and the doctor can't check my husband on the date that is being given to him by them.I told them that we came a long way and my husband is sick and we did not cancel any appointment,neither we did not receive any phone call or email from them about the cancellation of our oppointment.Their behavior was not good with us and the lady who was scheduling all appointments was simply telling a lie and was very rude with us. Excellent, thorough, physician that thinks carefully before she treats. Highly recommend her.

A lot has changed. Ever since Dr. Smelkinson joined the BIG hospital group her charges have gone up drastically. On my last visit which was just a yearly Medicare checkup, the bill was almost $900.00 for an office visit. Needless to say I will be seeking another doctor.

Ever since she became part of the BIG hospital group her charges have gone way up. For a simple Medicare yearly visit, she billed almost $9000 This was an office visit.
