I just cancelled a follow-up and will look for another GI. I’m sure Dr. Asma knows her stuff, no doubts there. However, I never felt “seen” in her office. I was a number and a time slot, which she did not adhere to either. She scolded ME when she was late for an appointment (an hour late) and also when my first follow-up was a month after a colonoscopy and I had been miserable for a month. Yet she was the one who set the time, and could not meet earlier, or even remotely (and there was no exam, just a consult). I need someone to support me in my health, not to see me via her medical conveyor belt. I just cancelled a follow-up and will look for another GI. I’m sure Dr. Asma knows her stuff, no doubts there. She used to be decent- now she’s the most uncaring and aloof physician who shows no empathy or concern for a patient’s discomfort or worry. Go to someone else.

Always very nice and thorough. I had a upper endoscopy done and the procedure was nicely done. She has personally called to see how my symptoms were. I highly recommend.

She was wonderful in the office and during the procedure . The staff in office and in the hospital was very compassionate and a full report was provided to the family and provided to take home. I am pleased to have her in my care and very comfortable with having her as such a compassionate doctor. I was given care at a level 10.

She is very unprofessional and leaves the room often to answer calls and talk to people. Also NONE of her staff is certified to work with patients. They are kind, but are not trained in the medical field.

She isn’t very professional as she leaves the room many times to answer a call or talk to people. The staff is nice, but with talking to them I was told that no one is certified in any patient care. (CNA, LPN,RN, medical asst)

I agree Doc was unpleasant to say the least, went to her for an endoscopy and was told everything was normal, and she took 2 biopsies while doing the endoscopy, if I didn’t hear from doc then nothing on biopsies! Went for a second opinion at Albany Gastroenterology and they informed me that the biopsies she took indicated I had celiac disease, have had issues for 2 years and this doc never informed me of this even though it was in her records! Completely dissatisfied.... I went here a few years ago because I had developed sever acid reflux. Immediately she put me on Omeprazole and then did an upper endoscopy with no testing prior to the procedure. The procedure was not fully covered by my insurance and was never told so I got stuck with an over $1500 bill. On top of this she found nothing wrong with me in the procedure, laughed at me when I said stress might be a factor, and proceeded to keep.me.on Omeprazole for almost 2 years. My symptoms started coming back so I went to a new doctor. Well because I was on Omeprazole for so long, I no longer had good bacteria in my stomach. My new doctor tested my blood, stool, etc and found I had SIBO really bad in my small intestines. I had to go on antibiotics, while also taking heavy probiotics to improve my gut health. After testing for many different things, only then did they do an upper endoscopy and found I had a hernia which Dr Arif completely missed. She is neglectful, and didn't take any of my issues seriously. She laughed at the suggestion that stress could be aggravating the situation which is 100% a factor in gastrointestinal problems. And due to her neglect I have had serious gut problems that I did not have before. I highly suggest you stay far away from her and get you a doctor that will actually test you for diseases before laying you with a $1500 bill and then dropping your case. Love her! Very thorough and caring! My mom has been her patient for years. In my opinion, she is very professional. She has done several colonoscopies for my mom and corterized bleeding blood vessels several times. May not appear real friendly because she is focused on finding and healing problems. She’s helped keep my mom alive. I also had a colonoscopy done by her. Highly recommend her. Love her! Very thorough and caring! My mom has been her patient for years. Very nice but she doesn't use current technology to view a patients current testing results. It seems she's all about the co-pays....constantly had us coming back without any results......

This doctor does not know what she's doing. My girlfriend goes to see her for reflux issues. My girlfriend had a recent test done, which was supposed to show why her reflux was the way it was. Before the procedure, one of the nurses told her that she would stop taking her meds during the 3 days the implant was inside her. After the procedure, you know, when she was all drugged up, I sat next to her in the recovery room while another nurse told her TO TAKE HER MEDS while the implant was in. Aside from the extreme discomfort the procedure causes (which the doctor said was highly unlikely) Dr. Arif also acted rude and completely apathetic throughout the entire process. Today my girlfriend met with her for her results and Dr. Arif insists that no one on her staff told her to take meds as per normal routine. WHEN I WAS THERE WHEN SHE WAS TOLD TO DO SO BY THE NURSE IN THE HOSPITAL. This Dr. and her staff are disorganized, not on the same page, AND COMPLETELY APATHETIC AND COLD WHEN DEALING WITH PATIENTS. The staff was great besides the doctor herself. I really appreciated the urgent visit I got. But Dr Arif Asma was VERY rude and unprofessional. She did not listen to me at all. I went In for extreme persistent stomach pains and nausea and vomiting. I lost 8lbs in a week. I left with nothing but an appointment for a colonoscopy and endoscopy in a week and nothing to make the week long wait less agonizing. I was treated like the problems I came in for were a joke. I was very disappointed with the “care” provided and do not recommend this doctor.

Girlfriend consults her for reflux and recently had a new procedure to monitor her reflux. The procedure causes her extreme discomfort for a week and a half to the point where she couldn't swallow. My girlfriend was also told to taker her meds per usual by a nurse (i was there when she was told). When My girlfriend got her results today the dr. said that no one told her to do that and it skewed the results. On top of all this this, this doctor has been nothing but apathetic and demeaning to her.

My sister had a colonoscopy with this Doctor. She was in so much pain during the procedure. This is completely unacceptable . The Doctor could have had her medicated more for comfort. It was such an awful experience for her. Then this doctors spent all of 5 minutes with her after. Never apologizing for what she went thru. I've worked in the O.R. This should not have happened. I wonder how she would feel at the other end of the scope...

Seemed genuinely interested in my well-being at the one consultation we had before scheduling a colonoscopy. Entire procedure, from our consultation through the procedure, went as smoothly as could be expected.

Dr. Arif and her staff were compassionate and very friendly. They had me laughing. She was the only doctor of mine who verbally expressed concern over my weight loss. I felt heard and respected.
