Dr Barrett Brown has performed meniscus surgery on my son Haden and everything went as planned by dr Brown. I now am having knee pain and in the process of going over options with Dr Brown. He is so easy to talk to and very informative of the coming procedures.

Dr. Brown is an amazing surgeon. He is willing to take the time to answer any and all questions you might have. He has operated on my shoulder 2 times eight years apart due to injuries. I would use him again.

It's been 6 months since Dr. Brown repair four tears to my rotator cuff. He has now released me from my restrictions to go back to doing my normal routine. I'm very pleased with Dr. Brown & his staff.

I really like and trust Dr. Brown. He has performed 4 surgeries on my right shoulder. I’m 63 so there have been complications. He takes the time to explain things so that I can understand what’s happening. My follow up appointments are always informative. My husband and I are very happy we chose him for my care.

Did an ACL reconstruction and the healing went very well. I’m preparing for shoulder work and will ask to. One back to him.

I would recommend Dr. Brown and The Fondren Orthopedic group. The reason being is not just Dr. Brown, but other specialist I have seen in the past have provided professional service, detailed information of medical diagnosis and have accommodated me with appointments due to me having to travel from another state. Very professional and to the point. I appreciate how quick I was able to get an appointment and how little time I waited in the lobby. I will recommend anyone with knee issues to see Dr.Brown.

Please be very specific with this doctor about your surgery and what come up afterwards. Make sure you know he don't give no pain medicines before you agree to hire him. He may be a good surgeon but his personality is like passive aggressive or something and he don't got no communication skills at all. Most of all just remember that if you ever had surgery and that doctor gave you pain medicine like a normal doctor would, don't expect that to happen here. It's almost like he's got into to trouble writing pain orders in the past and now he won't given any pain medicine to anybody. But the worst part is that none of them will answer you straight when you ask a question. His nurse Lacy is the same way. This has been a sad experience and I'm happy I won't have to go to his office anymore. I got stuck because of my insurance but if I every have anymore knee issues I will look for help somewhere's else to get some normal care from a normal doctor.

I really haven't experienced anything negative. Dr. Brown showed me my x-ray and explained what was on it. Going to therapy for my hip. He was nice. The staff was very pleasant. I hope therapy works.

Have used Fondren Orthopedics on several ocasions and have always had great experience. Was referred to Dr Brown by my PCP and just like previous dealings with Fondren I was not surprised by their level of care. Dr Brown was thorough and very easy to work with and provided several options on remedying ongoing shoulder issues. Options were various levels of surgery as well as referral to Fondren Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Specialist. We both agreed the direction to take was conservative which I admire from my Dr as he was not trying to push a premature surgery. Underwent MRI last Thursday (6/25) and post procedure they able to work me in to discuss findings immediately. After our discussion and path forward decision He referred me to specialist mentioned above. Appt made 6/29 and was first patient on 7/1. Referred Dr just as professional as Dr Brown and received injection in arthritis laden shoulder and thus far it is much better. Fondren is a well oiled machine and recommend to everyone. Dr. Brown is one of the most- if not the the best- doctors I’ve had in any aspect. I went to him after a family friend recommended Fondren when I was 18 and tore a few ligaments in my knee. I was nervous and scared out of my mind because it was my first REAL surgery, and he explained what they were going to be doing. After surgery and therapy I was back to normal and I couldn’t have been more grateful for Doctor Brown and his crew. I’m now 3 years older and I got injured at work and I got the chance to go see him again through workers comp, and I barely let my rep finish her sentence to ask her if I could see him again. I found the Fondren clinic to be very efficient, the staff were all very helpful, and the doctor was thorough. After reviewing the x-rays with me and questioning me about how I damaged my knee, Dr. Brown set me up to get an MRI. The earliest appt time they had was 6:00pm that day. He said he asked them to try to squeeze me in earlier if possible. Sure enough, the MRI folks were able to squeeze me in within just a few minutes of signing in. I was able to get the MRI and the I was out the door by 2:00pm. I really appreciate how the MRI staff were able to help me so quickly. A couple days later Dr. Brown personally called me to explain what was wrong with my knee and then set me up with a treatment plan. I don’t recall ever getting a personal call from any doctor. Bottom line, the staff was extremely helpful and polite, the imaging folks did everything they could to get me in and out quickly, and Dr. Brown was polite, helpful, knowledgeable, and thorough. Very professional, paid attention to details. I was there for a broken knee cap. He is very thorough, explained the situation and potential paths to healing. I felt extremely comfortable asking questions and he really listened to my worries and concerns. I did not feel rushed nor did he seem to busy to take time with me. Dr Brown noticed my hand was bandaged and asked about. I let him know the ER did not X-ray it because it didn’t look broken and another Bone and Joint Dr X-rayed it and said it was just a sprain. After looking at it, he asked if a hand specialist there could work me in would I have time to see him. I did and left with a cast. It was broken! Recovery is coming along with no concerns. Following his Physical Therapy guidence. His staff responded promptly to my emails or phone calls. After Dr. Brown recommend physical therapy for my left shoulder, my pain persisted. He didn’t see any thing on the x-rays, ordered an MRI w/ contrast. Identified a tear in the rotator cuff and damaged tendons. Gave me the option for surgery or not. He did not push me in either direction. Had the surgery and recovery is going well. Dr Brown is the BEST! Very knowledgeable and professional. Spent as much time as needed to explain the situation and answer all my questions/concerns. I was usually taken to the exam room before my appointment time. His entire staff and the Fondren staff are awesome! Would recommend Dr. Brown and Fondren to all. Dr. Brown provided excellent guidance on pursuing non-invasive options to correct pain issues with my knees that emerged over the past six months. In 2012, he performed reattachment surgery for one of my bicep tendons. I'm very happy to recommend.

He has cared for me for about 3 years to help me try to avoid surgery but my shoulder was worn out so cortisone quit working. I had surgery to replace my shoulder9/11/20 and all has gone well with PT etc though as I was told to expect it has been painful. Dr Brown is gentle and caring. I expect to have full recovery. The hospital was very good.

I was referred here by another specialist who told me I had a labral year in my hip. Dr. Brown did the surgery and said there wasn’t a tear but said he shaved down the area that was rubbing together. At both of my post op appointments I informed him the pain was not getting better at all and the only thing he said was that he did what he saw needed to be done. I asked for something else to at least help the pain and he insisted he couldn’t prescribe anything stronger than tramadol which doesn’t work for me and said we could try more cortisone shots which were unsuccessful for me. I was rushing to get my hip fixed before I lost insurance and went through with that surgery that didn’t help my pain and here I am two years later with my pain level higher than it has ever been without the resources to see another specialist. Got an appointment and had an MRI same afternoon. Two days later he took care of fluid in my knee and gave me steroid injection. Very thorough, explained everything and was patient in calming my nerves. Highly recommend!!!!! His PA Emily was awesome too!!! Thankful for the ease in getting in and getting fixed!

So cold in waiting room, had to wait nearly 3 hours while he went to long lunch.

Saw someone else within the ortho-group who decided I should see Dr Brown instead. So they squeezed me in. I have to take that into account for my sitting in the waiting area to see him for over two hours. I didn't inquire of the wait time, but staff wasn't proactive on the matter either. If I'd had an appointment, I'm hoping I would have been seen in a timely manner. The actual exam room is dreadfully cold. All that said, Dr Brown was fabulous. He communicates well at my level.

Grade 5 AC joint separation, + rotator cuff damage-snowboarding. Currently at the 6 week mark after surgery. Dr. Brown and his staff have been absolutely phenomenal -responsive to scheduling needs -multiple treatment options w/ pros and cons of each -technical expertise, repair feels great -Emily, his PA, called me back within minutes for follow up questions -Dr. Brown patiently answered every question I had in every meeting. Excellent physician and surgeon BUT he is notoriously late with his office visits. From my own experience and those of others I've spoken with, afternoon appointments can be as much as 2 hours late. Book early morning appointments and it's not too bad.

As a retired nurse, I was definite about wanting Fondren Orthopedics when my knee pain worsened. I was referred to Dr Brown and thought his reasoning for my treatment plan fit with my age and activity level. A year later I had minor knee surgery by him from which I recovered easily due to I think his plan to strengthen the surrounding muscles first.

Dr Brown has been taking care of me for yrs. My knees are bad. He has always been very nice answered any questions I might have. He gives me shots in knees. I don't mind it at all, believe me some Dr's are not so talented at giving steroid shots! When I need to see another specialist he recommend someone. I think he is a wonderful doctor.i highly recommend him.

Superb care. Had rotator cuff surgery and couldn't be happier. He and his staff were great to work with. Would not hesitate to send any of my friends or family to see him. (Also specializes in knees)
