Benjamin Matthew Carr

Dr. Carr is wonderful. He is the only psychiatrist I have stayed with in my 30 years of going to a psychiatrist. He is honest and a good listener. I will never go to another psychiatrist, I have been with him for years now. He does not play with his phone while you are there he uses a tablet, To put all your info and his notes in. The years I have went to him he has never played with his phone while I was talking with him. So I do not believe he stays on his phone while he is with a patient. Parking is tight but it’s no biggie if I have to I park across the street because he is worth it. And I would much rather go to a doctor with a full parking lot, that means they are doing something right. I’ve never had to wait an hour on him. I have had to wait a few times but not an hour and he always apologizes several times if he runs behind. I understand that I work with clients everyday and if some run late I can’t turn them away, so that can set your day in motion to run behind a little. And his patients need help so would you just turn them away if they ran a little late? I should hope not. Bottom line he’s a great psychiatrist and I can’t imagine going to anyone else.

Waited months for an appointment and called too late to confirm the day before so they canceled the appointment. They offered to reschedule 6 months out for another appointment. Very disappointed.

My son has made amazing progress since Dr. Angie helped us!

Parking lot is always crowded makes you wait over an hour past your appointment time to been seen and plays on his phone why talking with him what a waste of time

I've been calling for tWo weeks and no awnser

His office opens at 7am, I’ve been trying to call since about 7:30am and it’s now 10am and I still haven’t been able to get in touch with anybody. The answering service is still answering the phone.

I am very grateful for this office. Taylor is amazing! When I first came in I was so depressed and seen no light to the darkness I was feeling every single day! I love them...yah sometimes the woman up front can seem kind of rude...but I only have to deal with her but for a couple of minutes. The ones that you should worry about being nice are the Drs and NPs. My son sees Angela...and she is so amazing! I love her...both of my kids love her. I do not recommend going to any of the Drs that work here. I've been seeing them since May, I've been on Klonopin since February for extreme anxiety issues. So I found out two days before my last appointment early June I was pregnant. My Dr at the time told me to continue to take my medicine (Klonopin) unless my baby Dr told me otherwise then to let her know. I had a miscarriage not even a week after that appointment. I've been taking the 30 Klonopin I was given until I ran out today. I've been on the phone all day trying to get a refill because I am no longer pregnant & can have seizures without it. For 8 hour gave the run around to finally be told, I'm no longer allowed my Klonopin due to Drs notes. That I have to make another appointment to see the Dr again to be able to get my medicine. Not to mention how RUDE the staff is. The office manager is awful. She doesn't care about anyone. She told me if I had to go to the hospital for withdrawals that "that's not their problem". I was told I could no longer be a patient there because my husband called after hours to try to get my medicine because he was extremely worried. Needless to say, I found a MUCH better psychiatrist. Don't waste your time with them. They treat everyone like drug addicts & have no sympathy for the ones of us who really have issues. Only reason for the 1 star is because you have to rate to post. Listens to you, even if you’re babbling a bit ????, and tries to find solutions to root issue rather than focusing on the secondary triggers. Would definitely recommend for children and adults alike!

Dr. Carr is one of the finest! He is kind, caring, compassionate, a great listener. He is the kind of doctor that many people want to have, but sadly, never get the opportunity to find a doctor of this caliber. He takes his time with his patients. Has an excellent bedside manner. Very calming. I Highly recommend Dr. Benjamin Carr.

This is the kind of doctor everyone wishes to encounter, but very few get the opportunity. He is kind and caring. He treats you with respect and makes you feel welcome. He is an active listener and great at following up with his patients. So much more can be said about Dr. Carr, but words just can't describe how wonderful he is.

A year and a half here and never the first issue. Everyone is always nice and helpful. Dr. Carr is excellent. Could not ask for better care.

Dr. Carr is great except for his very rude front office staff. She is unwilling to listen to patients and will not take messages for the psychiatrist even in emergencies . She will turn patients away for the slightest reason. She takes advantage of the limited number of psychiatrists in and around Gadsden and therefore does not care about her patient/ customer relationship.

Refused to let me make an appointment. Said they wouldn’t accept my blue cross blue shield insurance even though my insurance says they are in network. The woman I spoke to was rude. I was referred by another dr who knew they took my insurance. Would not give any explanations beyond “we won’t take it”.

Fire the office manager I don't understand why I had to jump through hoops to get my baby back in Angela's care I went from dr office to another dr office to get paper work then dr. Carr office gone tell me they didn't get the fax then I gave them the paper work that had all the information on it and I still had to wait 45 minutes for the office manager to verify it when you got everything you need right there in front of you Medicaid confirmation sheet and all but I still had to wait 45 minutes so she can verify it somebody please tell dr. Carr that I have never ever had any problems with his office but today I wanted to pull my hair out just because of that office manager of his she needs to learn how to communicate with people and that people don't want to be in that office all day running back and forth. Is he s Dr that will theat Anxiety and ADHD? That’s my issues and if he wants to write meds that won’t work it’s a wasted of time, I know what helps and how much helps. Please help!!! Here’s the $1m question, will he prescribe Xanax for Anxiety, Vyvance and Adderall, for PTSD, if he does this he’s in my A+ book!

I feel violated! I wish I had never wasted my time. I am not mental, I have anxiety, so I can tell when people do not value you, as a patient. I actually went to school to be an addiction counseler, and I can usually point out someone that is high. I am pretty sure that CRNP was high. She had glassy eyes, I told her more than once I cannot take Seroquel, and she prescribed it anyway. She was either high, or stupid. I thought she might fall asleep. It's like hello... Is there anybody in there? I wish I had read the reviews before I came. When I called I told them, and I would assume, since she spoke back she could understand me. I told her I need to make an appointment with a psychiatrist, not a CRNP, a CRNP misdiagnosed my child, and caused his death is the reason I was going anyway. As if I want one ever diagnosing me after that. I didn't know she wasn't a psychiatrist until I left, and looked this up. I called back, and asked why they made me an appointment for the psychiatrist if he wasn't taking any patients. I have cash, I can pay! She put me on hold, and never come back. How professional!!!! The staff was EXTREMELY rude to me! They called two days before my appt to tell me I was going to have to pay $80 instead of the regular $50 copay! I didn't have the money to pay that much at one time so I had to reschedule my appt! They scheduled it for a month later and I ran out of meds! I called to try to get them to call me in enough to do me just until my appt and she told me I should have come to my appt! I told her she didn't have to be rude to me and asked what her name was so I could talk to dr Carr about her when I came in for my appt and she said that's not important! I'm ending this call now and hung up on me! I'm going to my next appt and talk to dr Carr about his staff then I'll NEVER go back to see him again! The office staff is extremely rude. If they make a mistake they blame it on the patient! They will not correct it nor do they care and they hang up on their patients. I have never in my life seen a doctors office staff so unprofessional and uncaring! Each time this person has been seen at this office there has been a problem with the front desk office staff. And this person has been going for over a year! They constantly make mistakes with insurance companies and do not care that their mistakes cost the patient days with out their medications. Some in which can cause a lot of problems in their daily lives! This causing them to go through weeks of getting straightened back out chemically in their systems. I will be showing up as soon as the doors are open to this office and matching myself right on to the back to speak with the doctor that's never available to speak to the patients on the phone per the office staff. The three providers in this office exhibit the utmost in professionalism. They run on time and they give you their full attention. I have had the pleasure of working here for the past few months and I find this office to be extremely accommodating, efficient and helpful. I wouldn't want my family or friends to go anywhere else! I have the utmost respect for Dr. Carr. He always has helped me figure out the issues I've had. I even respect the fact that he's honest with me. I've been seeing him onand off for over 6 years. Angela is really good as well. Can't ask for anything better. His office staff especially Ms. Francis are the sweetest people.

Would not recommend.

Didn't really try to figure out what was wrong with me, he just talked to me for 10-15 minutes then proceeded to prescribe me medication that only intesified my problems.

( PLEASEEE READDD ALL) !!!!! I have been going to Dr. Carr for years. In my opinion he was one of the best and my favorite person, BUT I hate to say it, I just experienced one of the worst experiences I've ever had with any doctor in my entire life. Starting a new job, my insurance doesn't kick in until after 3 months. So I'm forced to pay 100$ for the visit instead of the usual $20. That's still understandable and I don't mind because my medicine is important to my daily life and work. After talking with the Dr., he wanted me to try a new medication that just came out and would be better for me by taking the place of 2 different meds that I had to take together before and reducing it to just one type of extended release to get me through the day. And Of course new meds are always expensive bc they don't have a generic yet. But him knowing that my insurance doesn't kick in till another month he prescribed it to me and gave me a "discount card" to make the first month free. Well that would have been perfect to get the free month and then only have to pay 25$ when my insurance kicks in. But after happily taking it to the pharmacy I get a call with them telling me that in fine print it says "discount only applies to people with insurance/commercial insurance". And it was 750$ after a cupon without insurance for one month!! I call the Dr office and leave a message immediately. Didn't hear back for the first week. Finally I called back the next week when my medicine was running low and told them and they said to go back to get my original prescription and bring it back to them tomorrow to switch it out To Get My usual Medicine until my new insurance kicked in. Well i drive there the next day (40 mins away- took off work half a day to go get it. ) and today is 12/22/16 and it was the last day they were going to be open untill the new year is what they said so it was important I get it. We'll I take off work and go up there and they hand an envelope the Dr left for me waiting behind the desk. Inside was a prescription for one of the medication instead of my usual 2 diffrent kinds. Which would have been fine since i still had some from the month before left. But the one medicine i was out of i had gotten them filled on 11/21 last month so it was ready for a refill. And I would have atleast had them when I went to pick up the prescription........ well as I was getting in my car I noticed where it says "Fill Date 1/6/17. So there again now I am stuck going without the second part of my medication for 16 more days!?? If i would of known that I was going to need to make my MONTHLY medicine last 11/21/16 - 1/6/17 I would have definitely spaced them out a little more... and the lady up front wouldn't do ANYTHING about it. She would just repeat the Dr already left for the day so there's nothing I can do until he gets back.( which is jan. 6th) Even though when I walked in there was 4 of them just sitting there, including a Nurse Pract. Which was the same one I seen the previous month but everyone was just to busy. Only 2 other patients were in the building but it would have been to much of a hassle to fix a mistake that they made in the first place so I wouldn't have to deal with this mess (especially During Christmas time!). Having to learn new things and be focused at work especially with it being my first few months with this company and trying to start the new year off in the right direction was very important to me but I guess not. I even offered to pay Another 100$ to see the other Dr's or NP that was there, and would have only took maybe 2 minutes but of course they were to busy to see anyone else today knowing my medicine would be messed up for 2 more weeks if it wasn't fixed today. So in the end they made me drive 40 mins to pick up another wrong prescription that cant even be filled untill jan 6th... seriously??? Im just glad I filmed it..
