Bonnie Shanis

Dr. Shanis was very engaged when I spoke to her. She took a complete history. She was compassionate, efficient and by my observation very experienced. I would recommend her for any thyroid /endocrinology questions. She answers them as best she can and gives intelligent and considered insight. Three cheers for Dr. shanis

Dr. Shanis is an excellent physician- one of the best in her field. She explains the issues, talks with you, and always follows-through. She is knowledgeable, kind, compassionate, and most importantly, really cares about you and your health.

Dr. Shanis was very thorough in her evaluation of my symptoms. She evaluates you as a whole person, not just on the basis of one symptom. She is caring and compassionate.

What a mess! Refused to bill medical insurances and instead kept dunning patient with bills and nasty notes. Ugly, decrepit office looks and feels like something insidious goes on there. Waste of time ... I should have checked her 'credentials' before calling her. Beware!

I have been seeing Dr. Shanis for over 10 years. When I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's (low thyroid) my GP recommended seeing a specialist as I continued having symptoms even after taking medication. Dr. Shanis was willing to fine tune my medication until all of my symptoms were minimized or completely gone. Her willingness to do that has been very important to me. She seems to take a more wholistic approach, asking questions about my diet and exercise habits for example. I'm 62 and I don't think any of my doctors have ever asked me those questions which I consider to be quite important. She seems to be genuinely interested in my overall quality of life. That is very unusual for a doctor these days.

I have been a patient of Dr. Shanis for over 3 years now. I came to Dr. Shanis as a 50 year woman with hormonal issues and an unspecified autoimmune disorder. I had many symptoms that baffled my rheumatologist and primary doctors. She took the time to listen, answers all of my questions, and ordered all of the tests necessary to figure out what medicines would help me feel better. With a non-specific autoimmune disorder and being a woman over 50, I am a complicated case. I'm so glad I found Dr. Shanis. I am now feeling 100% better. I had many symptoms that baffled my rheumatologist and primary doctors. Excellent. She listens. I went to three Dr before I found Dr. Shanis , who cured my problem on the first visit.

Dr. Shanis is an excellent Dr. I went to many Doctors from GP's to numerous specialist over the course of almost three years and not one could give me a diagnosis. Dr Shanis not only ordered the correct noninvasive tests...she diagnosed me immediately and followed through with teaching me how to easily manage my condition. I can not remember the exact date that I first walked into her office however it has been well over 10 years. My symptoms have never returned. I can not recommend Dr. Bonnie Shanis highly enough!

I wish I would have listened to the reviews I read. There are so many red flags it could be a parade. As a new patient I had to spend almost $800 and three appointments just to get a refill of an existing medication. My insurance always covers my condition but will not reimburse me for visits to Dr Shanis because she refuses to provide standard insurance claim forms or proper receipts even after repeated requests and hand-holding. There is no reason to visit this (fraudulent?) doctor in a smelly, gross, back door office with no staff. If she were a good doctor you would think she might put a little effort into her practice and patients. I wish I would have listened to the reviews I read. I feel truly fortunate that I found Dr. Shanis over 20 years ago. She has helped me beyond description, with a thyroid that other doctors never stabilized. She is patient kind but more importantly she is extremely good at managing my health issues. She has been there for me for all my physical issues but also through a very difficult lose in my life that then effected my health. She listens to me, my impute, along with the blood test results, working them together.

Experience was negative. No office staff. I was told to complete my paperwork and then weight myself on s scale in the waiting room. She had no respect for the supplements I'd been taking from a naturalist and told me to reduce or eliminate them. She had no copy machine and never washed her hands. She is very good. She listens, cares and knows what she is taking about. Excellent.

Worst experience ever! This women's office is in her home and the office smells old and dirty. The drive there was confusing and hard to find. I was not able to communicate with her and she gave me no assurance that her "specialty" would help me in any way. It costed me over $300 to see her and argue about herbal supplements. She is arrogant and rude and only cares about money. I am now battling with my insurance company about her diagnoses saying that I had irregular periods (which had NOTHING to do with my appointment). I am on an individual plan and this will now affect all of my appointments from here on out. To make matters worse I did try going to Dr Bonnie to work out a cheaper option for the appointment and she refused to go down claiming that her 20+ years of experience it what I was paying for. I spent some time going between doctors before finding Dr Bonnie Shanis, and with her help, finally determined the right treatment plan for me. I have been seeing Dr Shanis for about 6 years now and have been very happy with the level of care and concern she has shown me.
