Dr. Brendan Michael Mcconnell

IF you choose to accept, without asking questions, whatever diagnosis, treatment, or other information that is presented to you by Dr. McConnell, then he is your man. IF you have half a brain and choose to ask intelligent questions or request a more in-depth explanation of your condition or treatment options, do NOT choose Brendan McConnell. He is WAY too busy to answer questions and take the little extra time most patients need when confronting a new diagnosis. His office was PACKED with patients waiting to be seen. Dr. McConnell has no time to waste answering questions or even saying “Have a good day” after any appointment. It’s in and out, and on to the next. My first appointment: x-rays and walking boot. Two days later: return to office because boot was killing my foot. McConnell ordered MRI. Given pump device for boot; significant increase in pain. Removed boot and bought myself ankle brace at Walmart. Next day: MRI. Eleven days later: returned to office to review MRI results. Took MORE x-rays. At the conclusion of the visit Dr. McConnell stated I would probably need surgery, but said, “I’m not going to do it. You are too impatient. You’ll have to get someone else to do it.” He then pitched the paperwork in my direction and left the exam room. In my 63 years I have NEVER had ANY medical professional treat me with anything approaching the rudeness, lack of professionalism, and obvious lack of genuine concern for his patient as I experienced with Dr. McConnell. I was totally caught off guard. Dr. McConnell made a lot of money off my case. Me? I am left with the same issues, no immediate treatment options, no doctor, and a useless $500 boot. Wow. I give him 5 stars! My husband was able to get a same day appointment with Dr. McConnell. We were very pleased because my husband is diabetic and his toe was not healing despite antibiotics from his primary care physician. Dr. McConnell was polite, nice, very efficient, and diagnosed my husband’s condition rapidly. He was careful, answered questions, and gentle in performing the procedure necessary. His bedside manner was impeccable. I would highly recommend him. Also, his office staff are wonderful. Kudos to them all! I give him 5 stars! So far my interaction with Doctor McConnel has gone very good, answering my concerns and informing me of what was happening. Until today I went to his office for pre-op appointment at the Yorktown office. Mary, one of the receptionists starts yelling at me about a mask. I was given paper work by another receptionist after Mary almost threw the mask at me I went and sat down to fill out the paperwork. Not even 15 seconds later she starts yelling at me again in a full waiting room from the reception area. So if I wasn't humiliated enough she comes around to the door and starts yelling at me how I am endangering peoples lives by not wearing the mask. I immediately put the mask on, all my paperwork strewn to the floor, and asked her what her name was. She still was yelling at me for a full on accusatory guilt trip that I was not wearing my mask for 3 minutes. I looked at her and said excuse mam, I was asking what your name was. She yells MARY!! I am calling the office manager, slams the door, stomps down the hall and tells Dr. McConnell that I was not obeying the law of CoVid as she saw fit, finishes the conversation with you see what I have to put up with. I can hear the full conversation in the waiting room she was talking so loud. As much as she ridiculed me talking to Dr. McConnell, you would think I killed the Pope himself right after I tortured him. I get called into Dr. McConnell's office, I told him about Mary and he suggested if we couldn't get along I need to find another practice the day before my surgery. I was shocked. So Dr. McConnell is willing to lose patients because one receptionist has NO respect for the patients that come into the office. After telling my story to my friends, not mentioning her name, Mary has been rude to most of the patients that are seen there. I made mention of the office off 17, one of my good friends says oh is that the one in the white building near the bowling alley? I said yes, why? I know exactly who you are talking about, yes she is rude, mean and disrespectful. Another friend is legally blind, when he was given paperwork to fill out he said he was unable to see it. Mary then yelled at him he should of brought his glasses with him. Why is she still employed in a position where she has access to people much less patients? Dr. McConnell treated my Achilles tendinitis and tear with competent professional attention and care. His diagnosis and treatment healed a most delicate and sensitive injury without the need for surgery. I highly recommend him for the most difficult foot and ankle injuries. Dr. McConnell is rude and condescending. He actually mocked me when I was trying to answer his questions. I have never felt the need to leave a negative review in my 63 years until now. No one is perfect and everyone has bad days but this was so far beyond any negative doctor's experience I have ever had. I'm still in shock from this experience.

I went to seek help for my chronic foot pain about a year ago. Dr. McConnell took an X-ray then told he knew exactly what the problem was and how to fix it so I trusted in him. He said he had done this surgery hundreds of times and it was a routine procedure. I had the surgery in November 2017. I followed all instructions given but after three months, the pain was still chronic. I was told that it would just take time and to be patient. I am running out of space so see yelp.

Initially, I liked him. I was under Dr McConnell's care for 9 months. He diagnosed me with Plantar Fasciaitis. Over a course of 9 months he gave me 3 cortisone injections in the heel, exercises for my "tight"achilles tendon, and even a walking boot for 1 month. Each time I felt some relief, but it was short lived, (not even a week). My condition continuously deteriorated. After 9 months, I decided to get a 2nd opinion from a Orthopedic Surgeon. It was immediately seen that I didn't have PF, but a bone deformity of the heel that caused me to have Insertional Achilles Tendonitis. Since I had the inflammation for such a long period, I had to undergo major foot surgery, to include deattachment of my tendon, removal of dead tissue, and shaving the heel bone. This was 10 weeks of being completely immobile, with a long recovery period up to 1 year. Don't go to a podiatrist! Seek out an Orthopedic Specialist that knows what they are doing!! I took my daughter in for a simple removal of wound gauze that was sticking to the skin of my daughters leg. Prior to the appointment I specifically asked if he was able to administer a pain killer if necessary because I tried to remove at home but my daughter could not handle the pain. The receptionist replied that yes he would be able to do so. So during the appointment Dr McConnell started removing the bandages while my daughter was screaming and shaking. Her head was buried in my stomach and she was just trembling uncontrollably!! I stopped Dr McConnell and asked my he's not doing anything for the pain. That's why I brought her here to begin with!! His comment was I could give her a shot but it will hurt more then just removing the wrap with no medication. I told him if that's the case I could have just done this at home. Dr McConnell replied well then just go ahead and he walked out of the office slamming the door behind him. I comforted my daughter and headed to the receptionist and he through out another comment. He said in the future please don't ask the patent what her pain level is during a procedure. I was fuming and left he office crying... Never again!!! I do not recommend Dr McConnell!! He is very non professional and will not listen to the patient. He seems to have an issue with people questioning is process and if you read the rest of the reviews it seems to be a common issue with everyone!!! Dr. McConnell was very understanding and attentive to all three of our family members needs. Highly recommend him.

I went to Dr. McConnell for a 2nd opinion. I was very pleased with him and the staff. Felt encouragef and foot felt ???? better. Richie brace was a blessing. Tjank you

While I might not give Dr. McConnell more than a B+ in his "bedside manner," I am going back to see him after four years for a different problem. I trust and respect him.

Horrible bedside manner. My condition is due to having babies and will improve with time, but he stated that I need to "retire" the shoes I wear because of my age (20s)-then tried to back track by saying I'm still young. He also pushed sales from a local store.

I had the pleasure of meeting Dr.McConnell in August of 2013. He did my surgery in September and I am an ongoing patient of his. He is always informative on any issue I may have. He is a kind and gentle Doctor. I always went to the Yorktown office so I am partial to his staff there. They are wonderful!!!

Did not allow me time to fully discuss complicated issue, and made a suggestion that I already tried for my foot pain. Was not friendly and was gruff.

I had been seeing another doctor every 3 months to get nails cut and my shoes, nothing had ever been said about Morton Neuroma causing my pain. Went to see Dr. McConnell and now feeling great after treatment. Thank you Dr. McConnell!

I went to see Dr. McConnell for an ingrown nail and possible heel spurs. My appointment was scheduled for 10:30. I arrived no later than 10:15 to fill out their paperwork, which took less than 5 minutes. Dr. McConnell did not walk in to see me until 11:15. I was not impressed with Dr. McConnell's bedside manners. His demeanor changed once I started to inquire about the differences in the procedures to take care of the ingrown nail issue as he discussed doing something different than what I had experienced before. I was interested to know the success rate of the procedure Dr. McConnell currently does now (the procedure I had done before lasted me over 18 years) and how it would affect me. Then he began to cut the nail without a numbing agent and was bothered that I would stiffen when he inflicted pain. When he asked if I wanted the area to be numbed, he seemed as if it was bothersome for him to do so. I had to make it a point to ask Dr. McConnell as he was walking out of the room if he was going to look at the X-Rays and tell me what the results were. The patient shouldn't have to remind the doctor what he needs to do, especially since the visit was only approx. 20 minutes.
