Mr. Brian Gelb

This was my first visit, and as far as the very brief visit went, that was OK. The receptionist and the nurse working with the doctor were very good. The doctor told me that my insurance would cover it with no out of pocket cost so I had him remove the moles.Upon checking out the receptionist told me I owed$265. Which I was not really prepared for because the doctor told me there would be no out-of-pocket cost which was not true. So I’m not sure if the billing of the insurance company was not done right or I was just misinformed by the doctor. I would’ve never had him do what he did have I known that it was going to cost that much money. Especially the fact that I only seen him or maybe 10 minutes at the most, which I don’t think it was that long. For that reason, I probably will not be coming back unless I have to. I left the clinic absolutely stunned and furious, but what am I going to do about it other than on this forum. If the doctor is going to make statements like that, then he

Very knowledgeable. Explained everything concerning my exam.

The office staff was very attentive and knowledgeable. Dr. Gelb did a thorough exam and answered all my questions. Very pleased with my visit since I had to drive 1 1/2hrs to my appointment.

This is the second year both my husband and myself have chosen to be under the care of Dr. Gelb. We have passed his name on to others saying he is exacting what we are allllllll looking for!!! Don’t hesitate to make an appointment with him at his Gaylord Office. We used to see him at the Petoskey Office, but the Gaylord Office is run much better.

The visit was great! No complaints what so ever. The only thing I don't like is the number of notifications and reminders about my appointment!! WAY, WAY to many. I'm an adult. I'm 65 years old. I'm perfectly capable of keeping track of my own appointments. I enter them into my smart phone calendar, I set a remind for a day or so before my appointment and call it good. I've never missed an appointment and I've only been late for one appointment by 10 min. due to an accident I got caught behind. I received approximately 8 reminders from your office. Six in my email and 2 or 3 by phone. That is way too many. I, frankly, find them very annoying and really they are an invasion of my privacy. I wouldn't mind one or two, but 8 is way to many.

Did not even completely disrobe. Stood during exam. Didn’t use any kind of magnifier to examine skin. Entire exam probably lasted 4 minutes. Nothing like a dermatology exam I’ve had from a Dermatologist

I had my annual body check, and Dr Gelb was very thorough. He mentioned to continually be vigilant with sunscreen as I spend a lot of time outside year around.

Location was easy to find and get to. All of the staff was friendly. I got in and out in a minimal amount of time. This is the third Dermatologists I have been to since moving North and I have found a keeper.

I showed up at 7am for my appt. I have new insurance since my last visit. The receptionist told me that we would have to cancel because my new insurance required a referral & a prior authorization - even though I have been a patient for several years. Well, that meant everyone’s schedule would be messed up & I would have to schedule another visit. Thank goodness for the proactive Brenda :) who overheard the issue & proposed an excellent solution that only caused me to wait 30 minutes but I was able to see the good doctor & get the appropriate paperwork in place. Now that’s the kind of employee you want to have! Great job Brenda - thank you!!!

I saw Dr. Gelb for several concerns and felt like he addressed them all and offered helpful solutions. The staff was really friendly and everyone seemed very capable and knowledgeable. I was pleased with the outcome of my appointment and the plan we made for follow-up. Would definitely recommend Dr. Gelb!

When checking out of a Mohs surgery in Petoskey with Dr. Murray Cotter, on March 1, 2022 my husband was refused a receipt/statement for his payment of over $600.00 Today in Alpena, Brenda was able to print that statement for us. The Petoskey Office staff are as useful as crutches in a grease factory. Dr. Gelb, Alpena office staff and helpers are PERFECT

Brian Gelb is a caring doctor. He is great at explaining situations. I give him many 'thank yous' , and was sad to learn of his leaving Petoskey. He is the best!

This was the first time I met Dr. Gelb and I thought he was a nice and friendly doctor and will stay with him if I need anything done.

Dr Gelb , found 2 of my skin cancers, the we're quickly removed, by doctor Cotter, The healed fabulous, little or no scars , do to the fastidious exam by which Dr Gelb found the initial lesions. He is a great guy, Good personality, very efficient, very professional, makes a person feel at ease. Thank you.

My whole body skin check was less than 5 minutes because I timed it. I had a few issues but he dismissed them and does not how to talk to a patient. He does not care about the patient and just is going through the motions. His staff from when you arrive is testy. I will not be returning as my family will not also. This is a corporation owned business with many Docs and offices and the Docs make a salary. They do not care for YOU as a patient.

My skin check felt rushed and I had to chase him down the hall for my 2 scripts which he forgot about. I paid extra for 15 areas to be blasted with the nitrogen gun and thought that was a fair cost since it is considered "cosmetic" lol. The Doc's up north are just ok in my book and to me that is not good at all. The Doc's here seem very bored, disinterested, unaware and not up to date on the latest medical care. Scary

Dr. Gelb offered the telemedicine option during the pandemic. I noticed a spot on my lip and chest in April, 2020. I contacted Dr. Gelb's office for a telemedicine appointment. Upon initial observation, both spots were determined to be in need of follow-up. As a result, one spot was cancerous and the other needed excision to prevent further complications. If the telemedicine opportunity was not available, I may have had a much more serious outcome. In addition, his staff and office Covid-19 protocols were impeccable. I felt completely safe and assured as I had to do the in-person office visits for the necessary procedures. I am pleased to be able to offer this review and thank you to such a fine doctor and staff.

Happened efficiently and safely.

Dr. Gelb is very personable and my daughter really likes him as her dermatologist. There has been really no wait time in the two times that she has seen him. He seems quite knowledgeable and professional yet seems to have a nice sense of humor. The staff have all been very friendly too.

If you must go to the ER avoiid this guy like the plague! Ask for a different doctor! You don't want to see the nasty things this man will do to your medical records! He will not let on when he cares for you sometimes!
