I have been struggling with neck/shoulder pain off and on for over 8 months. Dr. Castro was very informative about my options with no pressure at all.

Very helpful and empatheric.

Dr Castro is very invested in finding the problem and least invasive solution. I am hopeful that he will help me get resolve and I know he will do everything possible to have a good outcome.

Good. Dr. Castro is very knowledgeable about back conditions and suggested alternatives to surgery, which may or may not be helpful. Ongoing pain persists, so injections are the next step. No treatment yet.

He explained well my health concern. He is kind and polite.

Dr. Castro is very informative and comprehensive. He performed a spinal fusion on me back in 2012. I have been at 100% for 10 years but now I need another fusion above my previous one. I trust him completely and am looking forward to another successful operation.

Great doc and staff. Cindy the rad tech was very professional and compassionate as were the rest of the office staff. I am in intense pain and after leaving a VM Friday after they had closed I received a call Monday morning minutes after their opening at 0900 and they were able to get me in the same day. Dr. Castro explained my condition and laid out a very conservative pain to deal with it. Couldn’t be happier and I highly recommend them if you’re having back problems.

Back issues. Very short appt, said surgery is not the best option. No real advice. I had to ask if PT was an option to help my back. Idk not impressed, won’t be seeing again. Other folks with OCC were great.

I had been to the point of not being able to walk more than thirty feet and was basically stuck with a wheelchair for mobility combined with constant severe pain. Dr Castro changed my life and I now am back to where I was many years ago and life is great again! Follow up care was tremendous and always welcomed by a great staff.

Saw Dr Castro about a possible fusion. Found Dr Castro to be more conservative in treatment solutions than other surgeon I saw. This was a big plus for me. Felt very confident after getting my questions answered and in talking to previous patients. My surgeon of choice.

Dr. Castro took the time to explain the reason for my sever leg pain which required surgery; I had exhausted all other methods of therapy. He made sure I knew the process and didn't rush any of my visits. He took the time to address all of my questions, in lamens terms. He made sure I felt comfortable; he even came into my room before surgery and sat by my bedside (i.e., he got on my level) and re-explained the process to me and my family member. Simply put he is the best!!! His PA Sara is my favorite; she returns my calls in a timely manner, listens and addresses all of my complaints and genuinely cares about me as a human being. She is professional and has a "human touch" kind of approach/vibe. I highly recommend Dr. Castro and his team: they are a busy office but well worth the wait and most importantly you're treated as if you are their only patient, which is rare in this industry!

Spent 9 mos working with Dr. Castro, tons of diagnostics, go in for surgery, he puts me under, wakes me up 2 hours later: "We didn't do the surgery. We looked at your discogram results (from 2 mos. ago) and realized there was damage to two discs, and it wasn't clear what we should do, so we decided to hold off." Yes, he looked at 2-mo-old diagnostic tests AFTER I was under anesthesia. Are you kidding me? Of course, I was billed by the anesthesiologist and the hospital, took 4 months to get them to cancel the bills or to bill Castro for the amount, since I wasn't about to pay for a cancelled surgery. So many other back surgeons in Denver, I'd definitely avoid.

Everyone who works in the office is very nice. Dr. Castro is very caring and shows concern and compassion. I’m very happy to be under his care.

I saw Dr Castro after having a back injury.The doctor was late for appointment by one and a half hours .This was due to an important phone call.What! He never looked at my mri with me ,only stating I needed L4L5 decompression surgery.The surgery was a disaster.Pain was much worse 4 months after his botched attempt.Refered to new surgeon,confirmed the surgery with Dr Castro did more harm than good.Stay away form Conerstone and Dr Castro!

Very professional. Answered all my questions and concerns regarding cervical issues.

Dr. Castro has performed two back surgeries on me. Both were extremely successful. Now, I'm dealing with hip pain. Dr. Castro referred me to Dr. Kawasaki who has helped me. Dr. Castro always looks for the best solution with or without surgery.

Dr. Castro was very generous with his time and really explained to me the detailed issues involved with my spine. In 2009, he performed a spine laminectomy to treat my spinal strenuous at L4 and L5. I was in severe pain, had lost a great deal of leg function and was likely to be in a wheelchair at a very young age. Dr. Castro’s surgery on my spine was very successful, giving me many years of pain free physical activity. He also did a very good job of explaining to me that in the future, I would likely have more problems with my spine. It’s now 2021 and, as Dr. Castro predicted in 2008, I again need additional surgery to correct stenosis at L3. I feel fortunate and blessed that Dr. Andrew Castro is willing to help me again. I have complete confidence in his skill. He has earned my respect and his positive outlook on life and physical activity has helped me heal on a level beyond my spine. My highest recommendation! Though it was only an initial visit, I found Dr. Castro to be both interested and helpful in solving my concerns.

Very patience, explained and answered my many questions. I was very nervous and by the end of the appointment, I felt much better about what is going on with my spine.

Dr. Castro was kind and thoughtful and took the time to answer questions and explain his recommended course of treatment which was a less aggressive surgery with a better prognosis than had previously been recommended by another surgeon.

I had a very special experience with Dr. Castro when I presented with pain in my back. Dr. Castro looked at my MRI, x-rays, along with other medical conditions. It took a few minutes to get to the bottom line of my back issues. He told me that I was Not a candidate for surgery. I was elated by his honesty because I believe that there are many physicians out there who are "scalpal happy". Now, 2 or 3 years later, my back has been substantially worse. I'm "bone on bone", have had a long series of RFA's and facet injections, spinal stenosis, and my ankylosing spondylitis has become a very critical condition. There are so many days that I'm unable to walk, right past my Core. NOW I'm over due to see Dr. Castro, and I am feeling like this is the time to to reach out to Dr. Castro again. 5 out of 5! Very well educated and able to show and tell me all possible options for treatment. Would highly recommend him!

He has always helped me. Two fusions; one in 2015 and another in 2018. I was pretty much pain free up until I took a fall while walking. He took films and said I had probably sprained my back. Helped me with some muscle relaxers, pain meds and steroids. I am feeling much better and can do my walking PT again. The only complaint I have is not having a pain pump after my second surgery and my pain was not managed well by a couple of the nurses until finally a very experienced nurse came on She had me repositioned in bed. The other nurse told me to slide up myself, which I couldn't do. Still could have used the pain pump.

Dr. Castro is the consummate professional! He listens and encourages patients, he answers questions candidly, and he believes in a wellness approach for injury and pain. We are lucky to have him here in Denver!

Don't expect much of a bedside manner, or explanation for his recommendation. He seemed inconvenienced that I was there. Not sure if it was because it was a Work Comp referral or what, but he certainly did not make me feel as though he understood my concerns. Probably because he did not care.

Had an l4-5 fusion and I can now walk with no pain. Recovery from surgery has been quick and I can now do things without pain limiting my activities. I give Dr. Castro and his staff all the credit for this.

After having 3 fusions 10/15, I have more pain than ever. I can’t even stand up straight, and have more pain than ever. Went to another orthopedic surgeon, and he said that I probably couldn’t survive the surgery that I need. I have boney bumps on the place he operated on and are very painful. I can’t lean back on my church’s pew without much pain.

I have a serious back condition but since it's a workmans comp claim it seemed oddly difficult to get any straight answers out of the guy. He was also supposed to do some follow up on my case and talk to my pain Dr. and not a word was spoken. He was dodgy and there was something fishy about the appointment. I can't walk for 20 minutes without serious back pain, I can't sleep in a bed, if I lay down on my back I am in agonising pain and my right leg goes numb. R leg spasms L leg has sciatica.

Dr. Castro works miracles - Soon as surgery was completed I woke up without any pain that I had for many years. He answers all of your questions and does not rush you into any surgery. He is a perfectionist in doing his surgeries thus the result is your recovery time is shorten. I have issues with weak bones and slow healing in relation to weak bones. I was surprised that 2 of 3 fusions were completely healed in a little less than 3 months and the other fusion almost healed. Great follow up

This was my second back surgery with Dr. Castro. Both surgeries were very successful. I can even touch my toes after having three fusions!

I would definitely recommend Dr Castro to anyone. The reasons being when I was down literally pleeding for someone to help me. Dr Castro and his staff were the ones that made things happen. I believe he is a doctor for the right reasons. Not a salary.
