Dr. Charles Alva Shaller

Dr. Shaller has been my eye Dr. for 15 years. I like him and his staff. He does like to talk and I like that about him (to each is own?). He is an interesting fellow.

I Can See. I had broken my glasses but I had the lenses. I have very bad Stigmatism in Both eyes and am very near sighted I was reccomended by a friend. I forget what her name is but that Company Is Going to Get A Lot More of My business in the Near Future!

I wish I could give them a 100 star review! They went over and beyond to help me get my glasses at an unbelievable price. I will forever recommend this place to anyone who ever needs to purchase glasses or needs to see an optometrist!

I was new to the area and searched for an ophthalmologist (not an optometrist) as I felt I need an extensive eye exam - not just a new glasses or contact lens prescription. Upon my arrival to Dr. Shaller's office I felt completely welcomed by his staff. His technician did a very thorough job of screening for any eye problems using their state-of-the art equipment (I was quite impressed with the digital camera used to take photos of my retina, optic nerve and macula). I have a very strong family history of macular degeneration so I was very interested in seeing photos of my macula. I found Dr. Shaller to be very extensive with his examination and explained in much detail the results of his examination and what his recommendations where. He has a great personality making you feel like you were his only patient for that day. He also has a beautiful optical shop where I took my glasses prescription to be filled. Their prices are comparable to other competitors and the service given by their optician was fantastic. I found Dr. Shaller through the Macon County News and will continue to see him yearly for my eye exams. I would highly recommend him.

Worst office staff ever. Let us order glasses to small for the head, and now they say bring them back for a refund. Won't own up to measuring wrong. Office manager is rude, wish I had read revies before dishing out almost 500.00. There fix is it for us to pay another 100 to fix the issues. Glasses are only a month old, been there at least 6 times for adjustments and the lens where not the prescription that was needed. It has been a nighmare trying to deal with them. Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere, all the Dr. talks about is politics. So rude and unprofessional.

I was looking for a new eye doctor and had nothing but a great experience. They scheduled me as quickly as they could, I didn’t have a long wait in the waiting room, and Dr. Shaller showed up on time, performed the exam, and I was on my way. Local folks, local service. Thank you!

I had scheduled a YAG surgery "redo" with Shaller's office due to a continued big floater in my left eye that frequently impaired my vision (after having cataract surgery and a prior 'failed' YAG surgery 2 yrs prior with another eye doc). Shaller's office staff did work me in quickly, despite Dec being a limited appt holiday month, so I could be seen by the end of 2017, as I had met my deductible and out of pocket max for the year..... But even though I had no copay, nor needed a refraction done....I was charged up front for both...and told I could "work out getting reimbursed if insurance ends up paying all fees." I was overcharged a $40 co-pay and a $50 non-refundable refractory fee (kinda high as most charge $30-$35) that the office staff stated "was required for insurance to pay for the YAG surgery". But-- upon being taken back for the procedure, I was taken right into the YAG machine room, had dilation drops put in, waited the required time for dilation, then the doc came for the procedure and I was done and out. Bottom line--NO REFRACTORY EXAM WAS PROVIDED-- though I paid for it! Doc's staff didnt inform the front office that it wasnt provided and there didnt seem to be a lot of communication between office staff, doc staff and the doc! Honestly--a refraction exam wasnt needed anyway-- as I needed YAG surgery to fix a continued floater that was effecting vision that no pair of glasses could/would fix! But the cookie-cutter office pads that exam into each appt and charges accordingly. BIG WASTE when then you are paying for a service not rendered! Anyway...staff reportedly documented in my patient chart that I had a refraction exam---though I NEVER HAD ONE THAT DAY, further complicating efforts to get reimbursed!!! SO BEWARE--you pay up front when you dont have a copay requirement and have to wait/work at getting that reimbursed after you get get an EOB AND then they charge you up front for the refraction exam that ISNT ALWAYS DONE and cookie-cutter note in all charts that it is!! If you see this doc-- get a receipt for all your charges at the time you pay, then make sure you get all the services you are being billed for! But--there really are better, more straight forward options out there that document accurately, provide services you are charged for, and are less costly!! Very happy with Dr Shaller and his staff. My wife sometimes needs to get in quick to get a procedure done and Dr Shaller has always been accommodating. A true professional with a friendly disposition..We love him!

Dr. Shaller is always willing to answer any questions I may have and ensures I have an understanding. He is very personable and knowledgeable. Has been my trusted eye doctor for years!

Dr. Shaller treated me for a serious eye injury that I incurred at work. He was able to calm my nerves and I felt confident in his knowledge during my visit. Would definitely recommend him.

I would never recommend Dr. Shaller, he did what he said would be simple cataract surgery in my left eye.. after 2 weeks of not being able to see anything except solid white, He still kept putting me off and very uncaring , he was very blasé. I finally on my own went somewhere else, thank God I did

Dr. Shaller is so knowledgeable about all things medical. He not only knows about eyes but can diagnose so much more! He doesn’t just use medical terminology, he explains things so all patients understand! I highly recommend him!

I called the office today and asked the receptionist if Dr. Shaller was accepting new patients. She said "yes we are". I asked her if I could schedule an appointment and she said yes. She proceeded to schedule an appoint for me and then asked what insurance I had . I responded telling her I have Medicaid. Well that's when her voice changed and she said "well if you don't show up then we drop you"....Like, ok?! I'm going to show up, otherwise I wouldn't be making appointment.Then she said "well we need a referral anyways, so get them to fax us one and we will call you then. May take up to a week for us to call you back". Her voice changed and the way she was speaking to me changed!! Seems so crazy that she was willing to schedule appointment thinking I had different insurance... but once I said Medicaid her voice changed and she kept repeating herself. I just said thank you and hung up. I will not go here. I am no different then the person paying with private insurance or cash. Nobody should feel any less because of the insurance they are using !!! This doctor COMPLETELY ignored the findings of my eye problem, and has a strange personality-- keep looking for another doctor as I did!!!

Terrible doctor. runs his mouth the whole time about strange conspiracy theories and then completely ignored a glaring and serious issue with my eyes that another doctor diagnosed. DO NOT go to him!

Dr. is very through in his examination. Quite good at explaining options and procedures. Office is helpful and staff aims to please. Good experience.
