Dr. Christine Shih

She has been my doctor for many years. She is an awesome; knowledgeable and caring physician.

I haven't been to this doctor in a while, but my negative experience with her still sticks in my mind years later. I came when I was 18 for my first pap smear. I hadn't started being sexually active yet and wanted to start using birth control. Before the pap smear started, she made comments that seemed to infer that she didn't think I was a virgin. Once she started the pap smear, she kept complaining that I was too tight and telling me how she had to use the tools meant for children on me because of this. Her attitude was negative the entire visit. Hopefully she is nicer for other types of services, but I would never feel comfortable seeing her again.

Doctor Shih is an excellent family doctor. The only thing needed is infrastructure to deal with security issues from old systems. When those security problems present themselves something as simple as checking for a test result becomes impossible and you are stuck waiting until those security issues get resolved on Monday. Then you’re stuck waiting for a COVID, new strain, much later than that. It’s a very difficult conundrum. Doctor Shih is an excellent family doctor. Dr. Shih is the best doctor I've worked with. She listens well, has great insight, and can give me the straight talk I appreciate and need. Well worth a few minutes extra in the waiting room. Great care for her patients.

I have known her for years. I always feel that she gives me 100% of her attention when she sees me. I never feel rushed. I know sometimes you have to wait a bit to see her, but for me it is worth it since she is such a good doctor.

Calling the Amita doctors office is ALWAYS a nightmare. I have been going to Dr. Shih, for years, ever since I was a little girl. I am now in my twenty's as a young adult and the experiences are always the same with her. On most days, you cannot even reach the office. It has so many extensions and robots that you're literally are waiting on the phone to speak to the reception nurses for a while... When you finally get in contact with the reception nurse, they all have nasty attitudes. I CATCH an attitude just talking to them because why are you treating your patients this way? Don't get me started on the nurse. She will always conclude that you need a pregnancy test.. FOR EVERYTHING. She is also very rude, has no effort to pronounce names correctly even though she see's me often (not a hard name), and never remembers what she says to her patients so she ends up looking foolish. Now Dr. Shih? Also can be rude in the way she speaks, her mannerism, and her opinion is very hightened.

Excellent physician. I have been with her 25+ years. I will follow her anywhere in Illinois. Always has time to address any of my concerns.

Dr. Shih has been my physician for almost ten years. I think she is a great doctor who always has time to talk to me and find answers to problems I'm having. We have had discussions about a wide variety of maladies. She is efficient, knowledgeable, courteous, and has a down to earth attitude. No matter how busy she is, I always feel that she has time for me. I never think she is rushing out of the room to see another patient. I appreciate that since I know how busy she is. Outstanding level of service

Wait time is horrendous at this office. Expect to be in the waiting room at least 30-45 minutes depending on the day...sometimes more. Add another 20-30 in the room itself before the doctors breeze through. You see a sign in the room that reads’ “the nature of our practice is to give our patients the utmost in care and service. Please excuse any delays. We will give you the same careful attention asap.” Is that why you have scheduled patients every 15 mins? Because you care? Interesting.

Dr. Shih has been our family doctor for 16+ years. We had to move out of state and I was completely devastated. She is a smart, no nonsense type of individual. She treats you, listens to you and you don't wind up spending all day in the waiting room or in her office. I wish I could bring her and some of the staff here,as I have yet to find the kind of care we are looking for as a family.
