Since I am a new patient I faxed in a list of medications, allergies and medical conditions. The front desk had not entered them and Dr. Irby could not be bothered looking at them: "I'm not looking at faxes". One of my issues is memory and I take 27 medications. Later,I mentioned I think she missed a medical issue I have. "I'm not going back and checking." Dr. Irby would not add Paxlovid to my "Allergy List". If I were to take it, it would cause me liver damage because of 4 other medications I take. "I am not adding it to your allergy list if you have never taken it!" She offered zero helpful information and my after visit summary had zero information from her on it. I think she has some sort of "God Complex" where she likes brow beating patients. I told her I was getting out a piece of paper to write things down-she immediately responded that she would not be telling me things that need to be written down. It absolutely was the worst doctor experience in my entire life.
Not enough room here for every horrifying detail. I took my 87 year old mother there to be evaluated for tremors/dementia meds. Met at the front desk by the doctor who told us we were late (we were 5 minutes early). Told us she had somewhere to be and clearly had no interest in why we were there. She & her rude staff displayed a lack of respect or compassion. DO NOT take yourself or your loved on there. This person should not be working with patients. She even got some of her medical records wrong. She wouldn't take our notes, was abrupt and did not display any care for our sweet mom. I have several family members who work at Jeff and they were horrified that this person would represent the Jeff name. During her evaluation she showed no care as to how she was talking to my mom who was clearly upset with how she was being treated. When we got home she made me promise we would never have to go back there again-that is one promise that will be easy to keep!
I read the reviews before my initial visit with doctor Irby and I was a little hesitant but after having multiple appointments with her I think she's a really good doctor. The initial intake, she is to the point, she doesn't want unnecessary detail or fluff, she's getting down to the root of the problem and why you're there. She ordered the appropriate tests and even after they were negative she ordered more. During the follow up visits she was very personable and I could tell she cared about my health. I just wonder if she was a man if the reviews would have been the same. Her receptionists however are very frustrating to deal with.
I took my son Craig halter to see this doctor on 10 /15/21 she would not even see him the first time visit my son is handicapped does not talk or walk she would not see him because he would not wear a mask my son has a brain injury she would not even talk to me about it i thought she could wear a face shield if she was so worried I need to get him checked out and prescriptions refilled but that did not matter very disappointed the way they acted
Wouldnât recommend doctor to anyone. Unreasonable and not flexible to work with patients. Will never go back
I found Dr Irby to be very kind and understanding. She took her time speaking with me. She was very honest and upfront which I like. She was also very informative as well.
I thought my first visit was bad, but being naive, I thought maybe she had a bad day and the second visit would be better. That appointment (6 months later) was worse! Rude and arrogant. When Dr. Irby said to follow her after asking my mother a few questions, I assumed she was going to further test her. I didn't realize that was the end of the appointment. When I questioned the office staff as to where she went, they informed me my appointment was over. I explained that I had questions. They proceeded to ask me what my question was. I explained that I wanted to know how my mother was doing. They went to ask the doctor and she informed me that she couldn't tell yet. This was after seeing my mother for a total of 5 minutes. I wouldn't be able to tell either! After finding another practice to evaluate my mother, it has been determined that she doesn't have severe dementia/alzheimers as Dr. Irby diagnosed. A year on a med that she didn't need. I could write so much more but am out of space
Dr Irby is extremely rude and displays no bed side manner, compassion or Empathy, when it comes to her patients. She is quick to rush you through your appointment with out hearing what you have to say, won’t let you speak, speaks over top of you . I have only two appointments with her and after the first one I should have known better then to make a second appointment but thought to give her the benefit of the doubt, and I’m sorry I ever did. She was 20 min late and refused to acknowledge her lateness but tried to insinuate I was late. She admitted to speaking behind my back about a complaint I had against her to her office help and when I brought it to Irbys attention she said “I was hoping you heard me “I will never ever refer her or go to her again. I’m looking into filing a complaint to the higher ups about her. I Highly do NOT recommend her.
Detached and seemingly uncaring. Argumentative and does NOT keep up with current research in her field.
just canceled my first appointment with dr. irby so i can't review her. jefferson health systems set up of making/cancelling an appointment gets one star. one more than they should get. waited fifteen minutes to get through to the third person i was sent to who had the permission to cancel my appointment. way to go jefferson. who came up with this great system? somebody's relative? does someone have picture's? how bout this plan jeff. each of your thousands of dr's and testing office's that you have crammed into one building, have their own phone number, staffed with people who actually care about something other than a paycheck. what a concept. kind of disgusting that a person can order a pizza and pick it up in about the same time it takes to make/cancel an appointment with jeff. i'm sitting here typing away as my left arm, hand and fingers are throbbing in pain. i need to call someone who actually cares about what i want. that's right jeff. gonna order a pizza.
She is rude,unprofessional,and asked what I thought was wrong with me! Never go to her! Waste of time and energy
I would not recommend her to anyone. I called to let her know that the medication she prescribed for my headaches was not working. I had been having headaches for 2 months. Two days later someone from the office called back and told me that she wanted to know the status of the tumor on my pituitary gland. I had seen her two months prior and gave her the results saying it was stable. Next, she said she thought the cause of my headaches could be from my thyroid. I don’t have a thyroid anymore. It was removed 8 months ago due to cancer and she was well aware of this. Finally, she said my headaches may be from one of my other medications and if I need to, go to the ER and schedule a follow-up with her. I don’t think so. She obviously did not record the correct things in my records when I saw her at the last visit. She also had all of the test results etc. that I had done since I started seeing her. I have never dealt with anyone so incompetent in my life. I’m glad got away when I did.

When I go the office for my initial visit, there was a sign posted, stating Dr. Irby's visits were running 55 minutes behind. Seriously? Then, when she finally came in to see me, she asked me for my "most serious concerns". I told her I had many, and she told me we only had time for the most serious ones. Then she rushed through the physical exam. I knew right then I wouldn't be going back. Funny thing is, I was talking to a friend about my experience and it turns out she saw Dr. Irby once, for her vertigo, and she had the same terrible experience I did! I did complete the blood work and MRI she ordered, but will be following up with a neurologist at Penn, recommended by a friend. I don't mind driving into Center City if I'll receive better care than I did with Dr. Irby.
I had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Irby and her staff today. Dr.Irby is very professional and makes you feel at ease. She explained everything to me before she did anything. She answered all my questions and listened to all my concerns. She talked me through my EMG and made it less stressful for me. Dr. Irby is very personable and kept me laughing the whole time. I’ve seen many neurologists before..but Dr. Irby is the best and I ‘ll will definitely be making that hour and a half drive just to see her because she is soo worth it. The office staff is very nice and organized. I highly recommend Dr. Irby and her staff. 5 stars ?? ????????
Terrible experience. She's abrupt, insensitive and, in my opinion, incompetent. She tested my reflexes with my feet planted firmly on the floor, and immediately recommended "balance therapy" when I told her I sometimes get dizzy when I LIE DOWN. Really??? She ordered labs my first visit (reluctantly and at my suggestion), and I never went back. Never will...
I found Dr Irby to be one of the most insensitive uncaring doctors. ever. Accusatory is putting it mildly. I will never recommend this so called Doctor.
I love Dr. Irby and have never waited more than a few minutes. She is always kind and I think she cares about and treats you as a whole. Never experienced any of the negativity that some have shared. 5+ stars for sure!

Came off as a professional pill pusher and nasty. Came in looking for answers. Instead, she screamed at the computer and cell phone while telling me the wrong patient chart was on the screen. When she found out I am a lawyer, she was even nastier. After ten minutes, she told me my issue is not what I thought, but never suggested a possible problem. Then stated if she could not prescribe me narcotic medications not to come back. I will be contacting BOME. Good luck!
I'm pretty surprised by all these negative reviews, because I found Irby and her office staff to be helpful and friendly. I waited maybe five minutes for every appointment I've had. I switched to Irby because I was unhappy about the brusque treatment from my previous neurologist, and I found her to be kind, frank, and a perfectly competent neurologist.
Rude, insensitive, robotic
She has no clue what she is saying how can she be called a "neurologist"? The wait time was 2 and a half hours, yes you read that right 2 and a half hours for mediocre care that a primary care doc can do. I called Kennedy to complain but they don't even have a customer service line. They also charged my insurance for not waiting for 2 and a half hours will be sending a insurance fraud tip to my insurance. Kennedy health alliance is one of the worst heal systems out there.

Dr. Irby's demeanor is unprofessional to a point where It's almost inconceivable that someone would employ her let alone allow her to work with patients. I can absolutely attest to the validity of the poor reviews of her on this site. I generally would feel that the only criticism here should be that of professional, but Dr. Irby's character deserves far worse than that. During a visit one can expect Dr Irby to be egregiously late, abrupt, rude, unhelpful,and more often that not just plain mean
I've read the posted reviews about Dr. Irby and either I'm sicker than I thought or those people need to be on stronger meds. This woman made my day. I was so scarred going to a neuro doctor, not knowing what to expect. She was such a soothing, caring person. She was patient, understanding, and encouraging. Looking forward to our next meeting. Dr. Irby is an extremely incompetent physcsian, she does not evaluate the real problem in which the patient is being seen for. I'm not sure what Medical School she blew through, however; she should think of a new career choice. Dr. Irby does not listen to problems or concerns of the patient. Makes rude and condescending comments. I believe she is there for the salary, it is clear she lacks confidence in her specialty. She uses a database to check prescriptions unlawfully. Wait time 2 hours.

Dr. Irby has a terrible bedside manner. I felt as if she was present but not interested in what I had to say or how I felt. She seemed "robotic" in her approach to treatments. She abruptly left the visit without a "have a nice day" or "nice to meet you" I don't recommend her to anyone.

You don't know who you are going to get when you visit Dr Irby..It might be Dr Jykell or Dr Hyde. She was my physician and my Sons. It was our first time being there and it was our first appointment. We was a little late finding them. She was angry and went off. It did not stop there. I was with my Son at his appointment and like us mothers do at times we answer questions for our children (younger and older) she was very nasty with me. I understand her not wanting me to answer. Be NICE.
horrific bedside manor. Diagnosed my mother with early Alzheimers and proceeded to tell her that she was stupid for someone with a masters degree. Didn't offer any resources for help and gave no insight as to what the next step would be besides prescribing medication. Completely awful experience during a time when we needed guidance.
