Daniel Hwang

I knew I couldn't hear well because of my tinnitus, so I went to get help, but I was told that there was nothing they could do to help me other than an examination. At least without any improvement or good suggestions. I felt bad at the thought of why I came here.

I had sinus surgery with Dr Hwang to fix my sinuses, because I got sinus headaches and also wanted to be able equalize better/more easily when I go scuba diving. (For anyone who hasn’t gone but has the ability to go diving, I highly recommend it!). Anyway I had a turbinate reduction, balloon sinuplasty for my Eustachian tubes, straightened my deviated septum, and enlarged one of my right sinuses that was partially blocked and kept clogging. So it was a pretty involved 4-part surgery. I had the surgery a few days ago, and I already feel a huge improvement in my sinuses. My head already feels clearer and I haven’t had any sinus headaches like I used to get all the time. Best of all I’m in practically no pain! I also had a nerve problem before the surgery, where my turbinates or septum were somehow hitting my optic nerve from inside my nose. Dr Hwang isn’t a neurologist, so I wasn’t expecting him to fix that part, but somehow he did the surgery so well that my nasal/optic nerve pain seems to have also gone away. I know Dr Hwang is a really skilled ENT/surgeon because I had a similar surgery done when I was about 17 (unfortunately, senior year of HS sports/wrestling/ football messed that up so I needed it done again now at age 30). But back when I had it done at age 17, I was in way more pain than I was now post-surgery, and yet I only saw decent results. I think a mix of me doing a lot of research, plus listening to Dr Hwang, along with his good surgical skills, helped me have a really good outcome. I really recommend you use Dr Hwang for any sinus surgery or sinus needs, and I also recommend doing your research beforehand (with any doctor) so that you’re informed going into it… but also listen to the doctor… and personally I recommend having as much helpful stuff done as possible. I easily could’ve just had my septum fixed but I wanted all 4 procedures done. My ears, sinuses, etc all feel great and seem to be draining really well now, and no headaches at all. Totally worth every penny, so I recommend- if allowed/possible- getting all sinus problems fixed in one go The only thing I need to make sure of at the follow-up, is that my septum hasn’t re-deviated since the surgery somehow, which I don’t feel like it has but that’s always a theoretical risk. I had a 4-part surgery with Dr HWANG: 1) turbinate reduction, 2) balloon sinuplasty for my Eustachian tubes, 3) straightened my deviated septum, and 4) enlarged/ reshaped one of my right sinuses that was partially blocked and kept clogging. I had the surgery a few days ago, and I already feel a huge improvement in my sinuses. My head already feels clearer, my breathing is great, and I haven't had any sinus headaches like I used to get all the time. Best of all I'm in practically no pain! I’m laying in bed, on only day 5, already breathing in perfect breaths of air through both nostrils and my sinuses feel great. I’m excited! I also like that Dr Hwang listened and had a real, intellectual convo about the pros and cons of procedures, and ultimately helped but let me decide. It came out great!

Doc. Daniel Hwang was very knowledgeable and helpful; during my appointment. However, after I 've completed the cat scan he sent me to do, I have not received any note from his office letting me know if the test showed any issues or not. I received the voice mail form someone telling me that the doctor did not have the time to take a look at my test and I need to book an appointment to see him. Frankly, I find it to be disrespectful to his patents time. If there are no issues, why do I need to come in? I am very disappointed at this level of care. Doc. Dr Hwang and his nurse Emma were exceptionally patient with my daughter. They both went out of their way to help comfort her and give her positive encouragement before a procedure. I don’t often comment about a business, but felt that they should be recognized for the fantastic bedside manner and overall kindness.

I wont recommended Dr. Hwang to anyone. My song suffered ear rings and saw dried blood in his ear. Dr. Hwang did not even bother to look into his ear. His assistant did hearing test and pressure. Dr. Hwang only read the test report and told my soon everything is fine and the ring will go away soon and sent my son home without looking my son's ear. We expect visiting a doctor can tell us the cause of the blooding. Apparently this visiting was a waste.

Yes, I have recommended and they are now patients as well. I was having frequent nosebleeds. Dr Hwang cauterized, it was quick, I felt nothing, no pills needed at home. The whole experience was painless. Nice staff, filled paperwork out on line, precautions in place, a good day!

Doctor Hwang has been a great help to me, I went in for a post nasal drip I had for a year and he walked me through each step to figure out the problem, finally went to the ballon surgery and he did an amazing job and made sure I was comfortable, I would recommended him to anyone who is having problems with there nose!

I had severe nasal congestion for several months, I couldn't breathe through my nose day or night. I saw Dr Hwang and he decided I needed a septoplasty and turbinectomy. I had the surgery and the first three days were the worst, my nose was swollen shut. Slowly though, it started opening up with sleeping in my back and by using saline nasal spray. I'm at a week out and now I feel good, I can't wait until it's completely healed and all the swelling goes away. I don’t have a great deal of luck with new doctors, but I “lucked out” with Dr. Hwang and his progressional, courteous staff. Dr. Hwang is knowledgeable, assured, professional and kind. He not only listened to my concerns, but he answered my questions thoroughly and patiently. (I know...how many doctors actually take the time?) He explained his holistic approach to medicine; explained the tests I would need; and made certain I had everything I needed for further testing, and that I understood why he requested the tests. After a miserable weekend with one nostril packed to stop a persistent nosebleed; I followed up with Dr. Hwang at the Reston office. I found all of the ladies in the reception area very helpful, caring and in less than 10 minutes I was escorted back where Dr. Hwang would see me. Another 10 minutes and he came in and quickly assessed the problem nose vein and chemically cauterized it. I found Daniel Hwang to be what I had heard from other people and that he was a caring and very skilled doctor. Staff is rude! Hipaa a violations every time I have been in the office. Dr. Hwang has never once had any suggestion or solution to ongoing ear/sinus/throat issues. Looks in my ears/nose says I don't see anything, says okay, shakes my hand, grabs hand sanitizer and leaves the room. I've even been sitting in room before when a office assistant comes back a few minutes after he leaves and says you're done you can go. The billing department is an entire new post to leave. Dr. Hwang was the first to give me a real diagnosis for my sinus pain after being ignored by many other doctors. He did a quick examination and could see what issue I was having and gave me a layout of the resolution process. I think he’s incredibly knowledgeable, friendly and helpful.

Dr Hwang was very thorough and clear in explaining the issue my daughter has with her sinus issues and allergies. He was kind, and answered all of our questions. I would definitely refer friends to Reston ENT. The staff and all medical professionals in the practice are wonderful too!!!

Dr. Hwang is very knowledgeable, extremely respectful, patient, and an excellent surgeon. He corrected my deviated septum, listened to all of our concerns, addressed them with the proper tests, and gave us very clear next steps for treatment and home care.

Dr. Hwang has an excellent bedside manner. He was informative but first off he listened to my concerns. He has a gentle spirit and he impressed me with his efficiency and manner. As he is sticking stuff in my ears or nose or scoping my sinus he was gentle and I never, once was in pain or uncomfortable. I highly recommend him. This was my first time visit and I was very pleased with his professional manner and that he took time to explain the exam he did with a scope through one of my nostrils to examine my throat. No problems found but he prescribed some allergy med and nose inhaler to help me.

Dr. Hwang is a money maker, not a doctor. I have a newly developed hearing problem and went to Reston ENT on the morning of February 9th. In addition to this new issue, I also have tinnitus and hearing loss at high frequencies. I knew this already. A technician did a hearing test, which revealed what I already knew. Dr. Hwang spent a total of 10 minutes with me, going over the hearing test results and taking a brief view of my throat. I told him there was something wrong inside my right ear. He said the tests didn't show anything and basically dismissed me so he could move to the next patient and maximize his daily earnings. He showed absolutely no interest in solving my problem. So I payed $185 dollars for nothing. If I go to another Dr. and she/he finds something in my ear, do I have a right to sue Dr. Hwang? I hope so. I should add that the reception staff was excellent. I've been visiting Dr. Hwang for the past 2-3 months and I'm very happy with him and his staff. He provided me with the details my other ENT was not able too. He is very courteous and knowledgeable. Dr. Daniel Hwang is exceptionally knowledgeable in his field no question there. However, what really stands out to me is his gentleness, kindness and compassion. Having a 25 yr long standing of serious sinsus infections (1 major surgery multiple in office procedures.) my ENT retired hence my relationship with Dr .Huang. 9 mons of weekly visits! Jan 11 became extremely ill-front office refused me appt for weeks-called emergency line listed on website-Dr Huang did call - his words “what do u expect me to do? I am sick myself- I don’t prescribe antibiotics!” I reminded him of my understood history!” He told me to go to the ER! He would do nothing & hung up.

I find Dr. Huang to be highly professional, personal, and concerned, and so far the easy, lost-cost solution he suggested for a chronic problem I've been having has been working. Since I recently had to choose a new insurance plan from among the few he doesn't accept, so I've even asked him if he could arrange to start taking it so that I could continue making appointments with him as my ENT specialist when needed.

My child had a bead stuck in his nose when he was 4 years old. Dr. Hwang had a really great bedside manner for our child and was able to make the experience fun and something to laugh about. We were really happy that the outcome was good and would highly recommend him to anyone with younger children. Also, my wife wasn't able to hear out of one ear, so on a separate occasion, we visited Dr. Hwang and he was able to carefully remove some impacted earwax and all was good. Highly recommend him!

I reommend Dr Hwang to all of my friends and family, even if they dont ask! We all need the name of a great ENT just in case.
