I would recommend Dr. Coward because he is very skilled and proactive in complex cases with his his excellent treatment, curiosity, and "can do" positive attitude. As a current patient, he quickly addresses and follows through when an issue arises in an urgent situation. He really does care for his patients as others have told me they have been coming for many years.

Just recently I had a appointment with dr coward, my appointment was at 11:15, I was not seen untill 12:10!! I found out through the appointment that I have some issues, he referred me to a ophthalmologist. Dr coward was I’ll, short with the questions I asked. He was rude. I am NOT going back to him!! I asked for my records to be faxed to another eye Dr… I was told there would be a fee!!! I will never go back there!! Yes he’s cheaper that most Eye drs, you get what you pay for. Beware!!

Fast. I was having an issue with my contacts due to the age of them. Dr. And staff were extremely helpful and knowledgeable. Dr. Coward was informative and knowledgeable and had me in and out in a timely manner. Will visit again and recommend.

He is not professional at all. I wouldn’t bring my family here if I were you. Dr Coward is definitely not your best eye doctor in town. My best friend left there with a bottle of Clear care that wasn’t explained to her that the lenses must soak until the hydrogen peroxide turns to saline. She put it directly in her eye. I am so thankful for the care I received from Dr. Coward. I had an unknown issue with my eye that was causing blindness. Dr. Coward diagnosed me and with such compassion and care helped me through this process. I give my highest recommendation to this doctor and his staff. I am so thankful I found this office.

The receptionist is unprofessional

My review seems to of been removed. I had the worst experience with this doctor in 50 years of wearing glasses. My husband and I went there and both of us was out of our examination in less than 5 minutes. He was rude and fast, so fast both our glasses are not useable. Oh I did go back for a second time to correct problem. He was still rude and had me crying on my way out the door. When I told him I couldn't see he said, yes you can and the exam was over. What a waste of time and money. We will not recommend him. If I could rate a zero I would. My review seems to of been removed. Worst experience ever!!! Racheal (front desk employee) very unprofessional and Rude. The Doctor seemed to have a chip on his shoulder after a complaint, and the end results were still messy and incorrect! The 1st and last time I will ever use this Eye Doctor for an eye exam. If I could rate this no stars, that would've been my rating!

Dr. Coward is one that listens to what you are saying. He has been doing my eyes for years. He is always smiling and helping you out. I will not go to anyone else.

This review is much overdue. Dr. Coward has been my primary eye doctor for two years and my experience with Optometric Eyesite has been exceptional. The Doctor and staff truly care about providing quality service to their patients and go the extra mile.

I had an excellent experience, I received the service that I have been looking for... as in I am about to relocate to Oxford from living in Durham—I needed an office that cared about “ME” and not always about the money$$$.. He found cancer in my daughters eye and saved her vision and possibly her life. No one else knew anything was wrong. Dr Coward is an Excellent Optometrist. He is trustworthy, has a genuine care for his patients. He is board certified and is highly specialized in acute eye care. I suffered twice last year with a retina detachment. Dr Coward detected it immediately and carefully guided my referrals and appointments with other specialists thru 4 surgeries and recoveries. He’s been there with me. I am truly blessed to have him as my optometrist, because of his expertise & knowledge and GOD’s Good Grace, I can see.

Dr. Coward was exceptionally patient and kind with my young son. He was naturally nervous during his first eye visit. But, Dr. Coward made some jokes and explained everything to him. I am so thankful that this was such a positive experience. We need more doctors like this! He is such a great doctor. I am so glad we found him.

Dr. Coward had no patience with my 5 year old. This was her first formal eye exam and our first time seeing him. He was very short and stern at a time that required patience and tenderness to calm fears after stinging eye drops. He left our child fearful of eye exams and anxious about eye care in general. He came across as mean to her, which she verbalized and we will NEVER RETURN or recommend him to anyone else. His bed side manner with my child was less than poor and extremely deplorable.

I highly recommend Dr. Coward. He single handedly saved my vision. I went to see Dr Coward on a routine visit. I recently arrived to NC from another state where I was treated for an astigmatism but I was told my eyes were in good shape. During my exam Dr Coward asked me to repeat a test and then he performed a few more before informing me that I had glaucoma and had lost quite a bit of my peripheral vision. This was not caught by my previous doctor! I will forever be grateful. He is the best!

Dr. Coward is the type of doctor I search for and am so happy to find. He is intelligent, caring and helpful. If you are looking for the best, this is the doctor.

I highly recommend Dr.David Coward to everyone. I injured my eye several years ago and I have been to many doctors trying to find one that could help me with my vision. Dr.Coward's help has literally changed my life! I didnt know he had special training as an eye surgeon when I made the appointment. I felt such relief that someone really understood what I was going through with my eye and had a plan to help. The difference in my vision is amazing! Dr. Coward is the doctor for my entire family for 10 years now. He is very good with my children's eye exams....and that can be hard...but he always makes em smile. Dr. Coward saved my vision. I did not know I had a serious medical condition that was quickly damaging my eyes and causing vision loss. He is very thorough and is the only doctor that caught it. I can not thank him enough. He is absolutely top notch.

Dr. Coward is an outstanding eye doctor. He exemplifies a warm and caring approach to his patients. He took the time to explain each step of the procedure and also provided several options for my corrective vision procedure. He is very knowledgable and easily transmits an understanding of what takes place to the patient in lay terms. My experience every time has been wonderful. Dr. Coward also found things which other Drs. Had missed. I recommend him without reservation.

Dr. Coward has been taking care of my family's eyes for the past 5 years and we have nothing but great things to say about Dr. Coward and his staff. My 5 year old son is very anxious at doctor visits and Dr. Coward's friendly and comforting bedside manner made him feel at ease from our first visit. Dr. Coward was able to pinpoint the actual problem with my son's vision which was misdiagnosed several times by other doctors. He is our lifesaver!

I have been to several eye doctors in my lifetime for my near sightedness and ocular migraines and no one compares to Dr. Coward. Dr. Coward employs the latest eye technology to quickly assess and diagnose any issues you may be having. What sets him apart from anyone else is his willingness to listen. He is very passionate about his profession and you can tell he always wants to help! I highly recommend Dr. Coward and his staff - they will not disappoint!

I didn't get a feeling whether he tested my eyes correctly. He was short and quick. The entire exam was finished in less than 5 minutes. I'll not recommend Dr. Coward to anyone.

Dr. Coward helped me so much. I was suffering from terrible headaches. He was able to find out what was wrong and now I do not have headaches anymore. I had been to 3 other doctors looking for help. He is very smart and he really takes the time to talk to you and help you. I will never go to anyone else for my eyes.
