I've been going to Dr. Spurlin since 2021. Dr. Spurlin and staff provide excellent and professional services. If you are in need of skin care, I recommend Dr. Spurlin. He's a perfectionist. I call him a "miracle" skin doctor. I've tried other dermatologist he's the best. Thank You Dr. Spurlin and Shayna.

I am sad to write this negative review because I went to Dr. Spurlin in the last couple of years and had a good experience. I loved his office staff and him, frankly. Because of my experience, I referred my 18 year old son. Unfortunately, he was only offered the option of seeing the new PA. She was fine, but did not help my son's problem. It was a wasted visit. He went a second time (about 6 months later) when he began having a painful and embarrassing rash on his face. This time we made sure to see Dr. Spurlin because I thought he would be a better fit for my son. In an effort to foster more independence, I did not accompany my adult teen. This was a big mistake. Dr. Spurlin spent under five minutes with him and told him that the burning, and itching rash on his face must have come from being allergic to some girls' lipstick! He was then told that he should just keep using the Vaseline that he'd been using. By the time my son started to bring up his second issue, the doctor was out the door. My son was charged our $40 copay for a 4 minute appointment where ZERO empathy or treatment was given. My son came home and declared that doctors don't care and don't know anything. I am writing this review today because it is 4 weeks later and the rash still remains. (And there has been no lipstick exposure!) I accompanied my son to another dermatologist's appointment today. The experience was night and day. The doctor took all the time we needed, called in two prescriptions, and named the condition. I feel like Dr. Spurlin saw a young boy with little experience and figured he could give subpar care. For so many reasons I wish I could champion Dr. Spurlin. Unfortunately, that has not been our experience and we will stop referring others or patronizing this office any longer.

Dr. Spurlin is highly recommended if you are looking for a dermatologist that is both personable and a knowledgeable professional. He is fantastic, always communicates clearly and truly one of the best in the field! Genuinely cares about the level of care he gives his patients. Office staff is wonderful also.

Pompous, belittling and every single time I saw Dr Spurlin I wondered why I kept going back. That was years Ago now and I miss Nothing about him

I finally found a doctor who has helped my child overcome her eczema!

Had something stuck, knew when it happened and exactly what it was. Was needle size but causes a little bump on my skin. Nurse was able to remove and put a band-aid. Was in there for 5 minutes. Great. Until I received a number of bills....from labs, from the office....I needed a needle size item removed and it cost me over $300. Before I received the bills, I sent a friend of mine there as well. SAME THING HAPPENED!!!! Had one tiny thing removed and received multiple very expensive bills. was not worth it. The office is fine, the staff is nice, the medical assistant is an absolute sweetheart and very helpful. She helped me to feel comfortable. The Dr., however, had a complete tantrum when I asked him about something on my hand when I had come in for another issue. Apparently, you are only allowed to ask him about the the main thing you are coming in for. I wish I had known because it would have spared everyone a lot of discomfort with his behavior. His assistant had to apologize for him while he was out of the room - he never apologized, himself. Also, he dismissed the main concern without much investigation, prescribed a cream and told me to come back if it doesn't work. So far, it isn't working but I will probably go to a more professional dermatologist if it continues to not work instead of subjecting myself to that again. I felt badly for his assistant - she is top notch and should work with someone who appreciates her. Pinnacle Dermatology/David Spurlin, M.D. on Woodward and 14 mile is the best dermatologist office and practice I have ever been to and I cannot recommend highly enough. As a teacher visiting family, my skin condition was initially misdiagnosed before the trip and became exacerbated – worse daily. Upon a friend’s recommendation from Beaumont, I called Pinnacle and received a new patient appointment within one day. I got lost and was late for the appointment, which was understood by the accommodating staff. Then, there was an insurance glitch (go figure), where my options were more reasonable and affordable than some of the co-pays I’ve paid in the past. The nurse listened intently to me rant on about how frustrating it is to have this condition. After this, Victoria Verkest, PA, came in, sat down, let me talk about what has transpired, all while staring intently at my face. Within minutes, she diagnosed it as treatable, non-contagious, and non-cancerous. What a huge relief and overwhelming comfort this provided. Tory (nick-name) didn’t whisk me out the door with some cursory diagnosis, elaborate biopsy expenditures I could hardly afford, and quota to maintain. It was like she really cared about me as a patient and individual, and what a difference this makes. She explained why the other skin ointments and treatments did not work. She gave me information to know more about mine. She told me the type of foods I should avoid. She also literally took the time and effort to print out coupons sensitive to the fact that I had no insurance while providing directions to a local store that had the best price for these prescriptions and medications. Victoria Verkest was knowledgeable, thorough, compassionate and sensitive to my facial condition which has already exponentially and dramatically improved. The office is aptly named: Pinnacle or highest level. That is the level of service and professionalism I know others, like myself, will receive at this office. Thank you again. If anyone is looking for serious help with their skin please dont go there I paid $90 for the visit $100 for medications . And it wasnt even worth it it made my skin worst , I was explaining everything for the doctor and the PA did not know what she was talking about . Please dont go there

Received a letter prior to Mohs surgery saying I had to pay the bill up front! I’m sorry when did a diagnosis of skin cancer mean you are rich! How insensitive! What is a copay for ?! Never going back! Can’t wait to see how I get ripped off with the pathology bill! Shop around people!

I tried too schedule an appointment and not only did they hang up 3 times community healthcare is not good enough for their doctors pockets........

My first visit there was a very good experience. All very friendly and helpful. Had a squamous cell removed and referred to Dr Byrd for Mohs surgery. Very professional. Explained everything in detail.

I went in to see Dr. Spurlin with a sensitive concern I was having and I was really glad that it was handled with professionalism, accuracy, and care. I left feeling relieved and glad that an uncomfortable situation was remedied by administering the proper medication and not embarrassing me in the process.

Best derm in the metro area! Zero issues with making appts and keeping your appt time as scheduled. Have been to them for routine check-ups, treating special issues like poison ivy, and have also used the medi spa. Great service from Dr. Spurlin and the entire staff. I highly recommend them!

I had an appointment with Dr. Dupati for a weird skin itching and wound, that got especially worse after late October. He spent a lot of explaining me what it was, offered me a realistic time-line of treatment and was always available when I called. I definitively recommend it!

First of all, this is a well organized and efficient practice. I saw Dr. Dupati who really took his time with me and didn’t rush despite my many questions. He even called me the next day to follow-up, which a doctor has never done before for me! All around a great first impression here.

I have visited this office several times to see Dr. Spurlin and Dr. Dupati. I can honestly say that this is the best doctors office I have ever been to. Both of these docs are great. The front desk staff is amazing! They are so friendly and caring. The nurses are so knowledgeable and make you feel comfortable addressing all of your concerns. I have not left an appointment with a question unanswered. While being treated for Melanoma I was thoroughly impressed with both of the doctors and the care I recieved. I recommend this office to my family friends and coworkers. I always get in fast when I need appointments and am usually in and out within an hour. Very efficient. The waiting room was neat and orderly while my wait itself was minimal. The MAs were professional and efficient and accurately passed along my information to the doctors. My doctor was professional and allowed ample time to answer all my questions and he gave me very clear instructions on how to treat my medical condition and what to look out for going forward. The lady at the front desk was very quick to give me a close follow up date and check me out of the appointment. Total time out of my day for trustworthy, reliable, high quality care: 30 minutes. Two incredibly positive experiences with this office. First time with my son for his complexion. Dr. Spurlin was super out-going and on-point. He right away identified that the complexion issues were related to my son's braces. 2 months later when my son had his braces removed, we found out he was right! Next time I called the offices with a skin cancer scare. They scheduled me right away. The staff called me at home to get some of my pre-appointment info taken care of. It was election day and the office was going to close early so that the staff could vote. Love their support of their staff's civic duties! i will never waste another minute of my life in that office i went there and it was very unprofessional.

I had a terrible experience there I went to get a couple of pilar cysts removed and I felt like they treated me like a kid and basically gave me no help whatsoever just threw a couple of catiphil products in a bag and told me to put on my face not even where the cysts are and didn't talk about them once.

One star for the terrible waste of time this office put me through. They recommended I take accutane even though I didn’t need it and it made absolutely no difference for six months. Really messed with my vitals - gave me high cholesterol. Requires you to get bloodwork monthly and visit monthly just so they can collect. Additionally, I went in to the office ten days before my wedding under stress because my skin was displaying new issues. Dr. Spurlin did not have the patience to deal with a stressed out bride so he walked out in the middle of my 5 minutes with him. Then he made it a point to come back and ask his assistant to leave the room because apparently he was “done with me”. Fairly unprofessional and inconsiderate; not what you’d expect from a real medical professional. I would not refer anyone I know to this man. After doing some research online, I realize that I am not the only patient he has mistreated. He develops an opinion about patients and it is not a professional health care provider opinion. It's a matter of if he likes you or not. Regardless, I never once felt like I was under the care of someone I could trust. It is my fault for not knowing and leaving his care sooner. But I really don't want anyone else to go through a similar or worse experience. One star for the terrible waste of time this office put me through. Dr. Spurlin is AWESOME as well as his staff!!! He's very knowledgeable and honest.

I highly recommend this dermatologist. I have been seeing him off and on for over 10 years and I never had had a negative experience. I am not sure why some people gave such low ratings. The office staff is very friendly and the PAs are amazing!!

I was referred to Dr. Spurlin by my GP and I couldn't have asked for a better experience. I had a small growth on my wrist that had changed in appearance, and, after examination, I was given the choice of cryotherapy or excision. I opted for excision and the process was quick and painless. The tissue was sent for biopsy and I was told if I didn't receive a call from the office, then the results were negative (which they were :o). The entire visit, including completing some paperwork, took about an hour. Everyone on staff was a pleasure to deal with and Dr. Spurlin really put me at ease. Dr. Spurlin and his team were absolutely fantastic. The new patient process (ahead of your appointment) is well organized and makes your first visit very efficient. My appointment was on time and productive, everyone was very friendly from start to finish. Dr. Spurlin checked my concern and offered treatment if desired - no pressure. Dr. Spurlin was and is a fantastic doctor and has been treating and my family for years. He's far from my home but worth the trip. He knows skin and how to treat your individual needs. He now treats my husband and children and many friends. He's the best and I trust him totally!
