My name is Richard Akehurst. I had small sore on my right wrist. I tried a number of things on it, but nothing worked. I made an appointment with Dr. Irizarry. She looked at it and said it could be cancer. I gave her the okay to remove it, and she sent it to the Lab. It did come back as squamous cell carcinoma. She was advised to go a little deeper. I've gone to Dr. Irizarry for quite a few years and have always been pleased with the results. I trust her completely, as she has an innate sense of what I need. Her aesthetics for enhancements are "just enough, not too much". It means a lot to go to a doctor with her experience, as I wouldn't be satisfied with someone who didn't have the degree or expertise that she has. Every time I call the receptionist picks up then hangs up before saying anything. Called 6 times now. Then when you call the other 3240 number, it’s out of service? Very hard to get ahold of anyone. I need her amazing service but no one is responding :(

Appointments with Dr. Irizarry are always timely. Considering she does not utilize office personnel, she is organized and prepared in advance for meeting patient needs.

Dr. Irizarry is a very professional and extremely talented plastic surgeon. She recently revised a small scar from a lipoma surgery and did an excellent job. She has an wonderful bedside manner and is a great listener, but what I think sets her apart from many plastic surgeons is that she is also a visual artist and therefore is more intuitive in her understanding of shape, contour, and light--critical aspects for any surgeon working on the face or other parts of the body. Her work is equal to the best that I have experienced by well-known plastic surgeons in places like Los Angeles or New York. We are very fortunate to have her in the San Luis Valley. Mark Irwin.
