When I am asked if I have a Doctor, for example at an emergency room I say yes, I then begin to ask my self-Do I have a Doctor?. I never see her. I choose her years ago when I first moved to this area, I lke her and trusted her diagnoses which seemed to be right on the mark. At first when I set up appointments, I was taken to a room to meet with the Dr.--- That has not happened in a very long time. Now when I want to make an appointment, I have to wade through a recorded set of questions and then told to wait for a return phone call. After hours of waiting, the call comes--- I am questioned again by a nurse practitioner or assistant to the Dr (worse the call back never happens.) When I describe my concerns, I am often told, “Oh, I can prescribe for you.”. I do not know if this person has the credentials that I assume the Dr has, I trust the Dr. recommendation because she has training and experience. What does this assistant have? There is no indication. IF I insist on seeing the Dr, I am told she only hold court on one or two days in a week. I can set an appointment for one of these days. BUT even if I do, make this appointment on the days that the Dr holds court, I am met with the assistant or nurse practitioner instead. So...do I have a family Dr? I am lucky enough to have a wonderful PA at Dr Walkes but if it were not for her I would leave. The phone system and the answering people are awful. You could be very ill or need to talk with some one in the office and you may get a call back two days later. All I can say is don't go there if you want to talk with any one beside an answering system or an very rude off site service that doesn't understand your requests. Very understanding and respectful Doctor. Even in covid times she didnt not rush us and took time to talk and help me figure things out with my health. Awesome job.

Nurse practitioner Mrs. Culpepper is awesome! She's very thorough, sympathetic, and genuinely kind.

Dr. Walkes, Dr. Culpepper, and Dr. Sandoval spend the time to listen and explain processes or results in an unhurried, calming manner. They ensure you understand and are firm, but kind when they encourage healthier choices. I've been with Dr. Walkes for 24+ years and wouldn't go anywhere else.

Dr Walkes has been my PCP for over 5 yrs. Over these past yrs Ive had many obstacles and life changing events, which she has always taken her time and paid very close attn to me and what I was/am going thru. She is calm cool and collective and is my go to Dr. Thank you for all that you do DR Walkes!

Dr Walkes and her Assistant, Denise, and staff, are outstanding. From the time I came in they treated me like I actually mattered. Denise was running around like a chicken with her head cut off, getting things done right the first time. She is very pleasant and makes you feel relaxed and at ease. Both she and Dr Walkes were amazing. Attentive. Courteous. And on the ball. Dr Walkes is what everyone is saying about her. She took me in and took care of me like I was her own child! Dr walkes is nothing if not thorough. She is learned and listens intently. A woman of few unnecessary words; her directives I take seriously. A serious partner to your continued health, I find in Dr Walkes. She has discovered issues no other doc had found. For this, I am beholden to her in such respect. And trust factor is huge.

Dr. Walkes has been my doctor since she has been in Bastrop. She takes time to talk with you and not to you. If you have to wait for her its becasue she is giving the person ahead of you all the attention they need, just like she will with you. I am very lucky to have found such a compassionate and caring docor...I respect her so much

I like Dr. Walkes but the system in the office is chaotic and not helpful. Ive been waqiting on results, for a second time, for weeks. Terrible....

I am not thrilled with the lack of communication by Dr Walkes and her staff. It takes an act of congress to get through the phone system to leave a message, and rarely do I ever get calls back. The lobby of the building looks like a Section 8 waiting room. The back/treatment area is much better. Staff are friendly, admittedly I have only taken family members in so haven't seen the dr at work. You will wait, sometimes, 1-2 hours to be seen.

She's a compassionate and dedicated doctor. Every time I come in with an issue, Dr. Walkes completely puts me at ease and offers straight forward solutions. Wait times can sometimes be a hassle, but she's totally worth the wait!

no one answers phone. must go to office to make an appointment. very inconvenient. once you get in, Dr Walkes is compassionate and answers questions

Dr. Walkes seems very thorough, however, her staff is very not responsive, bogged down in technology, and unfriendly. If you have ongoing medical issues requiring pharmaceutical attention I would not recommend this practice.
