I had a very positive experience with Dr. Chen and the staff. They were extremely thorough. I had heard he had an excellent reputation and I believe he earned that reputation!

Dr. Chen was extremely rude, impatient and seemed exasperated with me which is ironic because I am succinct and very logical in my reasoning and explanations. I do not take up a lot of time when I speak to doctors because I respect the fact that they are very busy. As another review noted, Dr. Chen also had no compassion in my case and displayed the worst bedside manner I have EVER experienced. I came to Dr. Chen after years of suffering with my chronic ear pain and issues hopeful that I could get some relief and answers. I left dejected and demoralized. He should not be working with human beings. Find another doctor. He is utterly awful. Had a wonderful experience with Dr. Chen and his team at Pittsburgh Ear Associates. Highly recommend this physician for his bedside manner, ability to relay complex medical information to his patients so they can understand it, and skill.

Dr. Chen's office staff are cold and uncaring. They bark out your name and orders from the front window with no regard to the patients be they hard-of-hearing, old, or ill informed. Sitting and watching it all happen was sad. Janet, the tech, is like Sargent Joe Friday from Dragnet: she wants only facts and seems fully annoyed to have to deal with you or the other patients. They are all probably like that because that is how Dr. Chen is. He's cold and shows no compassion whatsoever. As a nurse practitioner myself, I was ashamed of him because he represents health care workers and gives us all a bad reputation. I would never go back to him and would never refer patients to him. He told us there was NOTHING that worked for tinnitus (which actually there are things that help) and spent all of 4 minutes with us. We drove 2 hours to see him, had to wait well over an hour to see him, and he gave us a pamphlet that had been printed in the year 2000. He did nothing, gave us nothing, and deserves no payment. DON'T go to this man or this office.

Dr. Chen explained the type of surgery I would have to remove the acoustic neuroma affecting my hearing, balance, fatigue and nausea. He and his team were amazing and even though I knew I would lose the rest of the hearing in my right ear, I felt I was very well taken care of and treated by the best staff during my short hospital stay. My follow up care is on-going and I am blessed and fortunate that Dr. Chen will continue to assess my condition.

staff says they sent exam to pcp but didn't. when questioned further they didn't even know how to reach the pcp which means they lied when they said they sent it the first time. sandy is also very rude on the phone. no manners. no apparent interest in helping. just want to say anything they can to get you off the phone. go elsewhere.

He is one of the best. His bed side manner and caring is so wonderful I had ear surgery thru another doctor and he messed up my hearing so bad and Dr Chen repair that damage. I would recommend him to anyone he is the best.

Absolutely rude and ignorant Dr's and staff. Dr. Chen has absolutely no compassion for his patients if his life depended on it. I tried to explain my medical history to him and he asked me if I was trying to tell him how to do his job. He even went as far as to rip my medical chart up in front of my face and my mother's. He wouldn't even let me speak to give him a detailed explanation of my medical history. But yet acted as if he knew everything about me all in less than 20 minutes. If I could give him a 0 for a star rating into the negatives I would. I do not recommend going here at all. Go somewhere else you won't be discriminated against or treated like this. I cannot say enough about how pleased and satisfied we were with Dr. Chen !!! He is tops !! He did a stapedectomy on my ear three weeks ago, and I can hear again !! I would highly recommend Dr Chen to all of my family or friends who have a hearing problem !!

I am astonished at how painless, helpful and empathetic Dr. Chen is. Before he extracted my tooth, I mentioned I was going to a high school reunion the next day. He offered to pull my tooth when I returned. In addition, he said I could have extraction done at his clinic closer to my home (nearby clinic staff had said "no", so I had driven almost an hour to get to his other clinic). His skill is amazing. I had absolutely no pain after the procedure. I wish all physicians and dentists were as competent and caring as Dr. Chem. I would drive TWO hours to Dr. Chen in the future. He is THE BEST!!!!!
