I waited 9 months to have Dr. Nelsen-Freund do my surgery. It was well worth it. I have a strong and straight leg.

He covered every aspect of concern before and after the surgery and follow-up and been wonderful. We are very satisfied!

The overall team that works with my provider were wonderful and patient. They explained it all in detail and delivered excellence.

Dr Nelsen -Freund is a very quiet and gentle manner doctor. He explains his procedures and why he chooses to do the one he picks. He has been very passionate with me sine I have hurt my knee in 2014. Trying everything to fid out why I was still having pain for 8 years. I know it's been frustrating for him and me, but he looks for the reason. Now I had a knee cap replacement in hopes that this was the problem. Fingers crossed. Always able to answer questions and is very informative. Great bedside manner. Would recommend to others.

Dr. Nelsen-Freud is a great surgeon with an even greater team. His team has a finely tuned system that works very well. They take everything into consideration for the best outcomes. They cover all aspects of care, from pre-operative, to operative, to post-operative, including how to take care of your pet.

I’m very impressed with Dr Nelson Freund and his team. Diagnosis of my problems along with potential multiple correction paths provides great confidence. His team is acutely aware of their individual roles in providing excellent patient care with the plan to get me up & moving and back to normal. They have every aspect dialed in !

Had 2 knee replacements and a hip replacement. Very happy with the care and results all done by Dr Nelson-Freund.

I find that Dr. Nelson-Freund and his care team are extremely caring and compassionate about a patient's recovery with the exemption of 1 member who doesn't care at all about a patient, their wellbeing or if they are in need of care soon after surgery.

Dr. N-F was recommended to me by a personal friend who is a doctor at Froedtert. I am so happy I waited through his "waiting list"; better to wait and get the best care available. My first knee was done by an excellent surgeon who is better known for hip replacements. I was pleased with that knee, but I had nothing to compare it with. Now that my second knee was repaired by Dr. N-F, I see quite a difference between the two. My physical therapist noted right away that my range of motion is much greater than was my first knee after surgery. My PT exercises after Dr. N-F's surgery are much further along in comparison to my first knee. I feel confident that I will reach my goals earlier than expected. Dr. N-F told me, after the surgery, that I will probably have to use my walker a bit longer because I had quite a bit of arthritis and bone spurs that needed to be removed. It's 2 1/2 weeks after surgery, and I'm ambulating with a cane; fabulous outcome!

I have not yet seen Dr. Nelsen-Freund for the post-op visit, but his staff has been attentive and helpful.

Appt with Nelson to discuss the repair of a surgical error which occurred during knee replacement surgery. He ordered a bunch of tests and never discussed results w me. During my follow up appt he abruptly told that my malaligned knee was not an issue and my other knee needed testing, although I only have malalignment on left knee. I found it astounding that he refused to address a knee that was more painful and had less mobility than before knee replacement surgery. I asked him multiple times if a procedure exists that would repair the damage that was done to me. After many attempts to get an answer, Nelson had his assistant email me saying there was “no malalignment” in my very visibly damaged knee. Never have I ever experienced this level of odd behavior, lack of respect, and apparent lack of knowledge by any doc I’ve ever seen.

He has been well mentioned by nurses, physical therapist, General Practitioner and others. He preformed about 200 Knee Replacements last year. He is judicious in his time with patients but does inspire confidence. The large Froedtert knee replacement group provide ample contact and support. However, I ran out of pain meds over the weekend & there was no way to get a refill because the on-call doctor didn't know me. I had to wait until Monday. There were no reminders before the weekend to count your pain pills to see if you had enough. Prescription was 1 pill every 4 hours as needed. Unless you count Friday morning to make sure that you have 24 pills you have not way of knowing if you are going to make it to Monday. Remember it takes awhile to contact the doctor's office, communicate your need, for them to contact the doctor, to get his approval, for the pharmacy to receive & fill the order & then for you to get someone to pick up the pills because you can't drive yet. :(

I have had two knees and two hips replaced by Dr Nelsen-Freund.As far as I am concerned, both he and his very capable staff are the best.Complete,concerned ,compassionate care is what I was hoping for and it was delivered.

I brought in my 89-year-old mom to doctor because she has been experiencing terrible pains in her hip and leg and we were considering to have surgery done. My concern was that at her age going through such extensive surgery is gonna affect her mental health. Dr. patiently listened to my concerns and agreed that for my mom’s age it could be a problem and suggested to do hydrocortisone shot. In the past we’ve done multiple hydrocortisone shots and they never helped for pain to go away. So when I heard that, my hope for my mom not to have pain was lost, but the doctor assured me that he’s recipe he’s gonna help. We had hydrocortisone shot done in October, two months ago and next day my mom didn’t feel any pain. To me it’s a miracle and a blessing. Yes, I know that the pain might come back, but now we have a solution to take care of it on a regular basis.

He suggested and pursued the same type of extraordinary care for my post-op and long term recovery needs as he had given me pre-op and in the operating room. Start to finish the very best in health care.

Dr. Nelson Freud was very friendly and helpful from the first visit to the last. I had one complete knee replacement in 2020 and another this year. I would strongly recommend him as a wonderful doctor who really cares about his patients.

Always discusses care and best options. Would recommend for anyone experiencing pain and inability to walk due to knee issues.

YES…I would recommend him. Been at Froedtert 6-years now. I knew my joint issues were my #1 health issue. A hip replacement was inevitable. Don’t remember how Dr Nelsen-Freund became my ortho dr but very happy he is. 4-years ago first attempt to get this hip fixed turned out good but wasn’t perfect. Hospital stay was 7-days, several procedures done on hip before leaving, recovery was very slow …. But I was walking pain free after falling/breaking my hip. Fast forward 2021. Need for hip revision. Done by Dr Nelsen-Freund and his team again. Very very nervous but this surgery is so much better..2-nights in hospital, walking really well, pain well taken care of. I can feel a big difference when walking on this leg already. A lot of effort was put into making sure this surgery worked for me … from looking back into my medical records before Froedtert right up to the type of anesthesia to use. He/his health team went the extra mile…for me that shows a doctor who cares

Dr Nelsen-Freund listened to my concerns and explained thoroughly the “whys” and “how’s” of my situation, which gave me confidence in my decision and for my recovery. I have no hesitation in recommending him 100% for any loved one. He cares!

Dr. Nelson Fruend explained the whole procedure to me and made me feel at easy prior to the surgery. The Get Well loop after surgery helped me to check in with the Dr. to make sure the healing process was going well and gave me the ability to ask questions.

Dr. Nelsen-Freund and I have been working together for about three years to find a solution to a knee replacement that remained a painful problem. Neither one of us gave up. More time will tell if it has been resolved.

I have been very happy with Dr. Nelsen-Freund. At the office visits I felt that he really listened to my concerns and he took time to answer all my questions. May have to wait a bit to see him but he is worth the wait. His PA, Angela, was also very informative and helpful both pre and post op.

I had previously had a knee replacement in another state. I was so amazed by the high level of concern & care that was shown to me by Dr. Nelsen-Freund & his incredible staff. It was amazing, especially compared to my past experience. I can’t think of ANYTHING negative in the whole process. I usually find something to criticize, of but not here. Dr. Nelsen-Freund is very professional yet personable. He’s got a great way of explaining things & a fun sense of humor. I’d recommend him to anyone who is needing a knee replacement.

DrNelson-Freud and the whole Froedtert team provided excellent caring care for me before, during and after surgery.

He is well informed and very patient with me when I ask questions about my procedures. I had several complications as a result of a poor outcome with another surgeon not in the MCW system. Consequently, I had to have a few surgeries to correct the mistakes. I got to know him very well and have complete faith in his expertise and recommendations. Shortly I will be having a new surgery with him on another hip. I know that I am in good hands even though this new procedure has a few complications. I have been very fortunate that he was recommended to me by another well known doctor who said " he's the best in the business." It is absolutely true.

I had a total knee replacement 15 days ago. I am making a very swift recovery and yesterday started transitioning from a walker to a cane. The entire process was and is being very well handled by DR Nelson-Freund and his team. I am very pleased.My surgery was delayed by COVID-19 but this was not the Dr's fault

Very professional Imformative Great care

I had my left hip replaced by Dr. Nelsen-Freund just two weeks ago, the surgery was successful, and the recovery and mobility has been much quicker than I expected. Last year I had my right hip done by another Doctor which was also very successful, but the recovery was much longer and mobility took significantly longer than this surgery. I personally highly recommend Dr. Nelsen-Freund and his very professional team to anyone considering a hip replacement. I am very happy I had the surgery done and would consider it a tremendous success.
