Dr. Edwina L Burke

Dr Burke was making making a set of dentures for me, at the same time my daughter was hospitalized in Cleveland for 4 months. One appointment I had to miss, and was charged a fee. I'm on disability and was already in financial hardship. My next appointment I drove from Cleveland Clinic just to be told that the dentist would not be in that day. I said maybe I should charge them a fee for doing the same thing to me. The receptionist told me to never come back. ????. Rude front desk! Dr Burke has a narcissist personality and is condescending. That saying, my dentures fit perfect.

I would give zero stars if I could. Edwina Burke is why I have dental trauma. I have panic attacks before going to the dentist. She treats patients like items on a conveyor belt instead of the people they are. She was rude, demeaning, and just an all-around nasty person on top of being a pretty bad dentist. I’ve since been seeing much better dentists and I regret the years we went to her just because she took our insurance. My mom had a different insurance than my brother and I, so she had no idea, despite our complaints. Also, the last two times I went - first time she cut my lip with the pick and told me it was because I moved. I hadn’t moved, but she was so busy talking about taking her jet skis out on the lake that she wasn’t paying attention. Second time they needed to make me numb so I could have a procedure done. I burn off novocaine incredibly quickly. They would inject me, leave, and when they came back 30 minutes later it would wear off. They injected me 4 times, it took 3 hours, and then they told me I just wasn’t going to get numb and charged me $60 “for wasting novocaine”. Since then I have found a wonderful dentist that works with me through my trauma, they numb me with something other than novocaine, and always have an assistant on hand to hold my hand. This dentist humiliated me when I was a child and is the reason I have a phobia of dentists. Extremely rude and unprofessional

I have been well taken care of. Everything is very professional. The staff and Dr Burke are very caring and make you feel comfortable

I went there for a consult after reading on Facebook that she took special needs patients---the old saying of not believing everything you read is key here, because I would never recommend her to anyone, special needs or no. I always have a caregiver go back with me as I need help both physically and adequately explaining my disabilities--they did not allow that (this was pre-covid). I was then basically told I would need a specialized dentist/would need to go to a dental school because I was so complicated, and because there are no private rooms, everyone heard--I've never been so embarrassed in my life. When I went to another dentist, the dentist and the assistants were so appalled--apparently my "complicated issues" are actually very very common and can be taken care of by a "normal" dentist. After 38 years on this Earth I finally have a dentist that I like. There is no question Dr. Burke is fully capable and competent. My entire family is under her care and I couldn't be happier about that. Also, despite having good insurance, she never once pushed for any expensive procedures. Love my dentist! they are super easy to schedule, and send you text msg reminders for appointments. Very professional, highly recommend!

I would give zero! No dentist has EVER taken my child back to the room and I cannot go. Parents stay in waiting room even if your child is small!!! They should inform parents of this procedure! Terrible! Beware. Desk lady was rude. The dentist is rude!

This office is TERRIBLE.. They were suppose to pull one tooth on me, When I woke up from being out to sleep they had taken out A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT TOOTH! When I woke up crying & upset they told me to leave that I was “band for profanity” & now refuse to transfer records because they “want nothing to do with someone who swore in their office” Contacting lawyer for taking wrong tooth out. Went to her for a cleaning, well they only did my bottom teeth that day and said whoever did my teeth before did a very bad job. I told them I actually had a deep cleaning a year before they more less said I was lying. Then she came in and starts poking around and tells me I should have my teeth cleaned 4 times a year instead of 2, now my teeth are not that bad to need cleaned that much, she said insurance only pays for 2 I would have to pay out of pocket for the rest. Then she said I need a crown and it's like $900 and of they dont take payments. Well I said I can't afford all that and she had the nerve to tell me to go the YSU dental school and have the students do the work I need done. She talked to me like I was a lowlife bum. I wanted to tell her you go let students work on your mouth cause they are not touching me. I will never go back to her and will never reccomend her to anyone. She acts like she is so much better than you well you mean ugly woman your not!!!! Dr Burke and staff are always friendly, make you feel at home. And always puts you at ease.

Charged me more in late fees than the cost of my actual bill- kept harassing me over 25$ gave them my card information to pay it and then kept getting told my card was expired which it wasn't. So then they had the nerve to call my boyfriend (my emergency contact) about MY bill!!! I will NOT be back and wouldn't recommend to anyone. Staff is very rude and they should NOT be allowed to call and discuss your bill with someone else. This practice is horrible!!!! First of all, at first I thought they were okay. I referred several people to go to her...my inlaws, my parents, etc...Well, one by one, each of them started to complain that her work was inadequate, fillings were falling out, etc....then I had an appointmet scheduled, forgot to give them my new phone number...well I guess they made an automated call, reminding of that appointment...well they got whoever had my old number at that time and they cussed them out...and they decided that they could not see me anymore. Well, okay, I guess it saved me from more unneeded work...since then, every single filling she ever did (and root canal), I've had to have redone elsewhere!....horrible... I will be the first to admit, I have horrible teeth, but I was in no way prepared for the cruel way Dr. Burke spoke to me concerning my issue. I was so hurt and embarrassed I literally broke down in tears. What she said was true, but her delivery was brutal. I was made to feel ashamed because there are no private rooms, which meant everyone heard. I was scheduled for another visit which of course I cancelled. After being a patient for 3 years, I withdrew myself from this practice. After waking up suspecting I had caught my daughters strep throat, my first thought is there’s no way they’d want to do a cleaning on a contagious mouth. I had my husband call to explain & reschedule. He explained that I would need to cancel to get into my PCP. They said in order to do so I would be charged a $35 cancellation fee and REQUIRE a doctor note stating I had strep throat! I stirred on this, and when going to my doctor’s appointment(who is a very well known, respected & busy provider) -he was very dumbfounded at such a requirement! He said-and I agree that it would be suitable to require a cancellation fee if I was a habitual patient that cancelled(which I’m not), but requiring a physician excuse is just absurd. I’m not a child missing school! I thoroughly believe that Dr. Burke is a great dentist & has always provided excellent care to me- but the policy itself is ridiculous! After speaking with the office manager she stated I signed this policy upon becoming a patient, but admitted the physician note requirement isn’t included on the paperwork! She stated she would waive this fee if I presented the note. I’m not a child, and don’t need to prove to a practice that I have strep throat(which I did test positive for that day at my PCP). I could have kept my appointment and had you folks at risk of contracting my illness, but I was smart & thought I was doing the right thing. I will state that I feel as Medicaid recipient, my business there probably won’t be missed. Had I been a self paying, or typical insurance holder things may have been different. They had no sympathy and didn’t care that I was leaving the practice. I've also shared this experience with the folks who referred me to her upon moving here(have been patients for years) & they to will be taking their business elsewhere! I proceeded to find another local dentist for myself & my family with another dentist. Then during my initial visit with our new provider (who knows & has the utmost respect for Dr. Burke) was disappointed that she would allow such a thing. He also stated that practices don't typical & really shouldn't force a medicaid recipient a charge for such a thing, & asking for a note to prove such a thing was ludicrous. NOBODY plans on getting sick and in turn has to end up cancelling an appointment. Had the office manager maybe tried to come to an agreement & showed a little concern that I was leaving the practice- I may have been more inclined not to post a public review. But her callous disregard for my business was disheartening. I’m not one to bash a business but feel that this should be known to others in hopes the policy be modified or others are aware in case another has to encounter this. Don’t make plans on the day you have a dentist appointment here. They always take a half an hour just to seat you, sometimes even longer. It’s just ridiculous.

I attempted to make an appt for my son and but once I informed her that he had Medicaid because of his disabilities, she literally rushed me off the phone and interrupted me while I was talking I guess because they didn't accept the one we had. In all of my years, I have never been treated so rudely & this is a place that deals with kids? I am glad I didn't have to subject him to this. I guess the reviews are true. Pay attention parents!!

My dad had an abscess and she turned him away and didn't give an antibiotic. My dad died 3-4 weeks later...

She has been my dentist for 20 or more years. My entire family sees her and we love her. If there is something she can't handle, she won't hesitate to send you elsewhere. Both of my children have been going to her since they have had teeth. I definitely will recommend her!
