Dr. Eric Scott Hans

I went here for years as a kid and it honestly traumatized me. One specific memory I have that still sticks with me years later is when I had braces. As a "joke" Dr Hans tied my mouth shut with dental floss and then proceeded to sit there laughing at me as I, near tears, desperately tried to untie the floss/open my mouth. He even made a joke about "finally being able to shut me up and get some peace and quiet". I finally was able to open my mouth, but that's because I strained so much, one of my wires came clean off. He then had the audacity to be mad at me "for ruining the joke" and didn't even offer compensation to have the wire replaced; instead he just blamed my ortho for not securing the wire enough by claiming the wire coming off "should've never happened". You know what should've never happened? Having my mouth TIED SHUT with dental floss. He's creepy, he's a bully, and he makes jokes at his patients' expense. Do not go here.

Dr. Hans and his team were lovely to partner with. The service was of high quality and Dr. Hans was very clear on the diagnosis. Overall a very positive experience. My 11 year old said it was his best visit ever. Prices were aligned to what we paid in the past.

Very unpleasant experience! It was my 20month's daughter first dentist visit and had a terrible experience. It amazed me when doctor said breastfeeding is solely causing my daughter's tooth decay! He even went on to compare breastfeeding with heroine addiction and how people in States don't opt for prolonged breastfeeding because resources are readily available here! I would have appreciated if we discussed teeth related issues, feed timings and NOT parenting styles. I didn't want to explain the unending breastfeeding benefits to a doctor and how WHO recommends contined breastfeeding for upto 2years and beyond. Very unpleasant experience! For years I was pleased with this practice. My daughter loves going to the dentist and the medical staff have always been pleasant. My review is based on my experience with their billing process and the harassment I received. If it weren’t for this experience I would have remained with the practice. In August 2019, due to personal reasons, my financial situation shifted and was temporarily unable to pay by bill (albeit not a large amount). After receiving a bill in the mail, numerous text messages and a phone call, I verbally explained my situation and indicated the bill would be paid in full the following month. Shortly after that call, I received a delinquency notice in the mail. Despite my communication to them, the billing office decided it was best to send that and ignored what I told them. I sent a letter to them informing them of my intent to pay as well as send them additional funds toward the bill. The following month (and after receiving a payment and my letter), they sent yet more text messages, and another delinquency notice. My daughter was scheduled for an appointment today to which I brought the remaining payment. When I arrived, I was told she didn’t have an appointment because of the overdue account yet no one from the office informed me of such change. Fortunately, she was still seen otherwise this review would have been worse. It is disappointing when a customer who had been in good standing for years communicates regarding an difficult circumstance is treated in this way. I felt harassed, dismissed, and disrespected. In my first letter I expressed my disappointment as well as the possibility that I would seek another practice should I continue to be treated in this manner. The whole experience was excellent. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Also flexible with the unpredictable needs of kids. Colorful rooms for a fun eye experience. Smiles from the whole staff from start to finish, and Dr. Hans was spot on with his assessment.

Couldn’t be happier with our experience. The whole staff went above and beyond to make sure my son ENJOYED the dentist. I’d give more than 5 stars if I could. Even during these trying times with covid the whole visit was seamless, safe, and exceptional.

My 13 year old son got his teeth cleaned and told me afterwards that he felt so safe in Dr. Hans' office. He thought that the nurses and doctor used every possible way of keep him safe during this pandemic. Dr. Hans is the best. Him and his staff stayed after hours to repair my daughter’s teeth after an unexpected fall. We arrived right at closing time on a Friday. And they stayed late to save her tooth. I can’t thank them enough.

I cannot speak highly enough about Dr. Hans and his team. My son has multiple cavities and he is treated with such care and kindness. Additionally, the office is so well-run, even during a pandemic. The office is also highly communicative - emails, texts, calls.

I live in Pottstown area and was searching for a pediatric dentist for my 3.5yr old daughter. I found Children’s Pediatric Dentistry of Trappe with Dr. Eric and immediately was impressed. I was further reassured through another mom friend in the area that Dr. Hans practice was wonderful and she recommended it further to me from her own experience with her two young children. I made my daughter a first dentist appointment (8/18/20 in the midst of a pandemic) and it could not have been easier. When we arrived at the office, it was clean and in protocols of the current pandemic state for medical offices, the staff was friendly and very professional and wonderful with my daughter who was a bit nervous but warmed up instantly when the dental hygienist Sarah introduced herself and made my daughter feel comfortable by letting her pick a prize when we went in. My daughter had no tears or refusal in the dental chair (with mama sitting with her) and let the dental hygienist count, brush, floss and apply flouride to her teeth after explaining everything she was doing at the “toddler level” before the exam/cleaning. Me and my husband were in SHOCK! My daughter has always been on the cautious or shy side with medical professionals but Trappe Pediatric Dentistry was so great with my daughter and made her feel comfortable in her first exam/cleaning! My daughter was also great with Dr. Eric when he came in to examine her teeth and she was proud to pick out her Peppa Pig toothbrush and several “prizes” from the dental hygienist. I absolutely want to commend and thank Trappe Peds Dentistry and Dr. Eric for a great first dentist visit and we will be back! No cavities for us! My 2 small children loved their first experience here!! The dentist was child friendly and also shared alot of good info with the kids about how to take care of their teeth. My youngest, best of all, didn't cry!!!! Win win!!!

I love it here for my six year old! If they took my insurance I would have stayed. They make you and your little one feel very comfortable. Front desk staff is amazing as well as the doctor and hygienists. No one rushes you out and everything is explained in detail. I would absolutely recommend them for your ped dental needs!

I am consistently impressed with this practice. We switched from a different dentist and what a world of difference. The operating procedure changes in regards to COVID have been EXCELLENT! My daughter had to have a baby tooth extraction done under local anesthesia today. Staffs were super kind, considerate, and professional. Dr. Hans did an excellent job and made a follow up call to make sure my daghter is doing fine. My daughter is doing great and we both are very satisfied with the service they provided.

I took my daughter here per recommendation from a coworker because of two horrible experiences elsewhere. We will never go anywhere else. Dr. Hans and his staff and so caring and considerate of my children and me as a parent. They take the time to really care for my children’s dental hygiene. My oldest son went through 6 different dentists before we were able to get him comfortable with a dentist. When he first met Dr. Hans the experience was so calming my son immediately took to him. I never thought I would see the day when he would be excited to go to the dentist! He always asks when he is going back. Dr. Hans and his staff are incredible! Today I took my one year old and 2 year old in and everyone was amazing. The staff is extremely sweet and helpful. And Dr. Hans is phenomenal with kids! I am so happy to have a dental office to take my kids that they won't fear going to.

My children have been patients of Dr. Eric's for 6 years. Recently we made the mistake of trying to go to a pediatric dentist that is closer to our home that accepts our insurance. To say that it was traumatizing for my children and myself is an understatement. We went back to Dr. Eric's office and were given options of ways to help my youngest feel safe in a dentist's office again. The staff is beyond patient! They are so welcoming and work so hard to ensure that the children and parents know what to expect. Every step was explained before starting and they made sure that the children understood what was going to be done so that the anxiety was lessened. As a parent, being able to be with your child through every procedure was a relief. My children love going to see Dr. Eric and staff. My three kids have been treated at this dental office since they were little (they're all teenagers now). From my experience, the office provides a high quality dental experience for all ages. During Covid-19, they have been extremely careful with cross-contamination, running multiple air filtration devices in each room, the hallway, as well as the lobby. My adult dental office is not this thorough in that respect. They also wear double masks (one being an N-95 level), which is important since they are breathing and talking right over my kid's open mouths. Very thoughtful.

Eric held me down as a child and sprayed my croch with water. He then sang "you peed yourself" over and over while grinning in my face. After that he locked me in his waiting room by myself and refused to let me out for serval minutes. When he did open the door he told me to clean up the toys on the floor. I refused (they weren't mine and I wasnt playing with them) he pulled my hair and put me in a head lock . He is an obnoxious man. Now as an adult I would never let a child near him. We left this office maybe a year or so ago. Had positive experiences when seeing the other dentist there for cleanings and a couple of other things. But after he left and we started seeing Dr. Hans, we realized it was time to move on. My peer-teen, physically-developing daughter happened to be in her "too cool for everyone" moods and Dr. Hans remedy for her nonchalant attitude was to tickle her sides and armpits while in the exam chair. I caught the incident out of the corner of my eye and was shocked, could tell my daughter was unhappy about the interaction, and after the Dr left the room, the hygienist and I asked if she was ok. Teeth cleaning went ok but dentist felt need to comment on how much makeup my daughter was wearing, specifically comparing her to a Sherwin Williams paint store. My daughter wore little makeup but regardless was a very unprofessional comment.
