MUSC should fire this rude condescending doctor. He treated me and all the staff on my operation day so mean that my husband and I considered canceling and finding someone else. If he causes or puts that much stress on staff, they might make mistakes out of fear. MUSC. You can do better. I will drive further for care if needed for my other knee

Dr Ekman is a pompous, full of himself doctor, he was rude and treated my disrespectfully. Do not go to this doctor

Dr. Eckman preformed a shoulder surgery for a simple SLAP repair. Over a year later, I am now scheduling a second surgery due to a wrong surgical approach... one that is much more invasive than the first. I lost a college athletics career due to this mistake and am now hoping for normal function at most. Bedside manner is average, however, Dr. Eckman was not humble enough to refer me to a shoulder specialist when it was needed.

Dr. Ekman operated on my triple-fractured shoulder in 2012. I only took one pain killer after surgery. He was the 3rd orthopaedic surgeon I saw. The other two didn't believe my MRI which indicated a torn rotator cuff along with the fractures. One had me to have a nerve conduction test because he couldn't understand why I had such weakness in my arm because he didn't believe that I had a torn rotator cuff. Dr. Ekman knew and explained my injuries and I now have full range of motion.

Dr. Ekman does not listen. Felt unheard and rushed. His office staff are awesome, friendly and 100% on it, but the medical care felt perfunctory. Never going back.

Dr Ekman at Appalachian Regional Orthopaedic & Sports Medicine in Boone NC is very thorough. He's got an encouraging attitude. He treats me, an accident prone working mom, and my 17-yr-old, a dancer, like knowledgeable partners in our healthcare. All the nurses and staffers at the office are also really helpful and knowledgeable.

Dr. Ekman and his staff are simply AMAZING! They are also so nice and are so caring about me and my situation every time I come in!
