Gregory J Wilmoth

Over the course of five years, I had two rapidly-growing basal cell cancers that required removal and rebuilding of one nostril and one upper ear. Dr. Wilmoth did an amazing job on both. He's really talented, and I'm very grateful for his skill!

I had skin cancer that another dermatologist did not take seriously, thank goodness I found Dr. Wilmoth. He has been amazing and did a wonderful job with my mohs surgery. He is also caring. So happy I found him.

My 11 year old daughter lost the majority of her full head of hair on 12/24 Christmas Eve. She had previously lost her left eyebrow and part of the right. We visited Dr. Wilmoth with a referral from our PCP to test for Alopecia. We gave explanation and showed pics of the transition and Dr. Wilmoth proceeded to tell me and my daughter we were lying about how the hair fell out and that we should go home and "think about it some more". My 11 year old started tearing up. I thanked Dr. Wilmoth for his time and collected my daughter and left. I have NEVER been treated with such disdain by a doctor nor have I ever been called a liar by one. This doctor should NOT be in practice if this is how he treats his potential patients. To have a child who has had the trauma of losing all of her hair go through the trauma of a rude and unprofessional doctor was too much. We will be receiving a 2nd opinion from a different dermatologist. 05/15/2019 Update: we were officially diagnosed with alopecia universalis as she lost hair full body. I hope Dr. Wilmoth will develope a better attitude when dealing with young new patients who have just experienced a very traumatic event in their young life. Dr. Wilmoth seemed like he'd rather be anywhere else than in the room with me. I came in for one issue and he decided to bring up my pattern hair loss (which isnt even too bad), making me feel criticized since that wasn't the reason I was there in the first place. He took a swab to culture what was on my scalp, and the results from that were not communicated very clearly by the assistant who called me. I decided to go back a second time to see if this time would be better, and the antibiotic he prescribed did not do a good job at getting my illness under control and gave me several side effects. I was going to bring this up but I still felt that he would rather be anywhere else and didn't bother bringing these side effects up (didn't feel I could trust him) and dealt with them on my own... He made it seem like there really wasn't any other option for me other than an extremely long course of antibiotics (6+ months), which is super unhealthy and is now something I will have to recover from, and figure out how to deal with my illness which comes back every time I discontinue the antibiotic. I wouldn't recommend seeing this doctor. Absolutely will never be back to Southern Dermatology. Dr. Wilmoth seemed like he'd rather be anywhere else than in the room with me. Horrible bedside manner. Not interested in being there. Didn’t solve the root issue and couldn’t even suggest more than one option other than antibiotics. Absolutely would not recommend seeing him, and would avoid if you’re able to.

Had some skin concerns and found Dr Wilmoth on line. I was early for appt. Did not wait long after appt was scheduled maybe 10 min. Nurses were professional. Dr Wilmoth did the exam and one biopsy. Nurse called me with results. I think that is the normal protocol with any dermatologist that I have been to wether I have had cancer or not and I’ve had cancer diagnosis before. Horrible first visit. Receptionist was very friendly and respectful. I came in 30 min before my scheduled appointment, waited for 50 min. a total of 1 hr and 20 min wait, I could not wait anymore. I left. Other patients, I saw so many came and left, was I the only one has to wait this long? Definitely will not going back.

This is a great Dermatology office, well trained staff and doctor. Very responsive to calls and has really been good to our family.

Receptionist was a frigging nightmare. Smart ass actually. Was given an appointment at 3:30 and arrived at 3:05 to do paperwork. At 3:56 I asked if the doctor was here. Yes was told yes and also my appointment was actually at 3:50. I told her that they needed to fix that. She gave a smart ass response under her breath. I will not be back ever. I have been going to this office over 15 years and feel comfortable with Dr. Wilmouth. He's very patient and easy to be around. He answers all your questions. I have also gone to their laser and skin center and am pleased with my results.

Horrible experience Dr. Wilmonth had his unprofessional and belligerent nurse deliver my cancer diagnosis on the telephone and refused to call me himself. I had a relative call the office to speak with Dr. Wilmonth and he refused to speak with them. His nurse was extremely nasty and hung-up several times.Will report to AMA & BBB and will share experience with everyone I can on social media. I discourage everyone to visit this doctor.
