Harry Paul Casmedes

I found the doc and most of the staff to be pleasant people, and they were attentive throughout the process, but on the whole I just didn't have a terrific experience with by double jaw surgery. I didn't have any major deformities, but I pursued it for both functional and cosmetic reasons due to issues mostly with how my maxilla grew during adolescence. It ended up being a very mixed bag. For starters, my initial surgery was not very successful - my facial profile improved, but my maxilla wasn't centered properly, I lost symmetry in my lower jaw, and my bite was made substantially worse. Due mostly to Covid, I had to wait for almost a year to have a second adjustment surgery, which also had the frustrating effect of pausing my orthodontic treatment for most of that duration. When I initially complained, one or two of the staff defensively gaslit me as though I was responsible for messing up something after the surgery. I wasn't. It frankly just wasn't a great job. The second surgery, which was upper-only, led to some needed improvement to my bite and general positioning of my upper jaw, but because I didn't request lower jaw adjustments, I still have more asymmetry in the lower half of my face than I did before the first surgery. And my bite still feels more "okay" than it does "great". Now, almost two years later, there was just enough overall improvement that I don't fully regret having the surgery, but I do regret that the results were far less optimal than I expected. I'd really like to get a lower adjustment, but probably never will. To make matters worse, I did end up with what seems to be permanent mild numbness/tingling above my upper right lip and I have a small but visible facial protrusion from one of the plates, which makes me want to have them all removed. Attached is a photo of how things looked between the first and second surgeries. You can see quite a bit of misalignment and asymmetry - mostly because my right side was expanded a little more than my left side when the opposite was needed.

Dr. Casmedes was my surgeon for my double jaw surgery as well as my wisdom teeth removal. I cannot express how thankful I am for him and his team (Kimberly, Brian, and front desk). These type of surgeries can be scary, but he made me feel comfortable and taught me so much about the process. My quality of life is much better, as I can now chew correctly and breath better. I cannot say enough good things about my family's experience with Dr. Casmedes. From the initial consultation, to the surgery, to the follow-up appointments, Dr. Casemdes has become my favorite doctor. He is sincerely caring, thorough, and knowledgable. He was great with my young son who needed to have oral surgery. My son trusted him from the get go and felt safe with him. I am so fortunate to have been referred to this doctor. I have had the BEST experience with Midtown Oral and I just wanted to post to rave about Dr. Casmedes and his staff. They're all exceptional- the perfect combination of FRIENDLY and COMPETENT. Which can be hard to find. They made the process of double jaw surgery nearly enjoyable. And they provide so much peace of mind by answering questions before, being with you before surgery, and then checking in with you regularly in the hospital, and being so available. I truly can't say enough good things. If you need jaw surgery or your wisdom teeth out use them!!!!!! Also, their insurance ladies are awesome and so helpful and get stuff done!!!! Dr. Casmedes is very professional both he and his assistant were extremely proficient in their work. I would highly recommend Dr. Casmedes if you are looking for a oral surgeon.
