Definitely a 5 star rating! Dr Harvey Woodruff and staff are an very friendly, and welcoming periodontal practice in the Gloucester area. He and his staff is very caring and knowledgable. I felt at ease despite my previous dental fears. He listened to my concerns and fears. Took the time to carefully explain each step of his very detailed dental exam and his current dental findings. He educated me on the importance of maintaining oral health and general health in a professional, kind and easy to understand way, Oral health and general health are innerlinked. The mouth and body are intregal to each other. Many oral conditions have an impact on overall health and disease. Bacteria from the mouth can cause infection in other parts of the body when the immune system has been compromised by disease or medical treatments (e.g., heart attacks, heart disease, infective endocarditis). Systemic conditions and their treatment are also known to impact on oral health (e.g., reduced saliva flow, altered balance of oral microorganisms). Suggested many reasonable alternatives in dental care. Tayloring a cost effective doable and successful dental care plan for my unique situation. Dentures are not required, nor in my best interest, as suggested from another recent local consult. Reassured me that my situation was not as bad as I had previously thought and I was doing the best I could considering my unique circumstances. There is hope, and with diligent care I will see progress very soon to get my smile back! I am blessed to be directed to many wonderful professionals and also have professional friends who help provide that gentle guidance and nudge not to give up.
