Dr. Helen Sophie Barold

If you are a person that is educated about your health and try to discuss related matters, be prepared to be treated very rudely. Visit was very rushed. On the other hand, if you are a sheep and want to get it over with and get your prescription, she is possibly good for that. Also, ignorant and arrogant when it comes to discussing co-factors of care outside her specialty.

After nearly a decade of regular care, Dr. Barold failed to communicate with her patients (including me) during the pandemic other than to announce an office move 25 minutes from the old office. Post-Covid she is rude, dismissive, cold, and abrupt.

Rude, abrupt and erratic. Dr. Barold diagnosed me with a valve that she said needed to be surgically repaired asap and gave me names of three surgeons to go to immediately to schedule surgery. I got a second opinion and third opinion from other cardiologists who told me I was not yet a candidate for this risky open heart surgery.

Dr. Barold has her office call you a minute before your appt time to check and see where you are... each time, I am walkimg through the door. What this does increases my already high blood pressure. I have told her about this constant bad practice. She does not care. her precious moment is more valuable than her patient’s BP. Today, I called the office in advance to tell her I would be 5-10 min late to a morning appt that SHE rescheduled. The office called me 3 min later while they know I am on the road and on the way. I am 2 min away, and they say they have to reschedule bc I am late after they said it would be ok. I told them I was so close. Cold response of no. I immediately told them there will be no rescheduling with a person like that. For a heart doctor, she has no heart. I asked for a call back because I wanted to deliver that message directly to her. Nope. Let’s see if they mail all my tests and records as requested. She has zero concern for anything but herself.

The best cardiologist I’ve ever had (and I’ve had quite a few). She is board certified in both cardiology and electrophysiology, a great plus if you have rhythm isded. All equipment is in her office including echocardiogram. She has helped me as no other cardiologist or internist has, my husband also is a patient and is equally lauditory.

I was sent to her specifically to be evaluated for my illness. She did some quick tests and told me I just needed to drink more water. I found to to be rude and dismissive, with an awful bedside manner. The visit alone was an unpleasant experience. I was later told by my doctor that she didn't even do the correct tests for my illness. She also ignored a red flag in my test results. I wasted another year going to specialists before I was finally diagnosed with the illness, by another cardiologist

Dr. Barold is an truly outstanding physician. She is deeply intelligent and has wonderful judgment. I had very serious onset of afib and received the very best of care.

Dr. Barold is an extremely competent doctor who is thoroughly on top of her field. She explains her diagnoses clearly and simply and makes sure her patients fully understand what they need to. Top notch.

Dr. Barold lacks empathy and "good bedside manners.". Has no interest in collaborating with other doctors to figure out a patient's symptoms. When I was in the hospital and terribly upset, she stepped out of the room instead of stepping forward to reassure me. There have to be many other cardiologists who know how to talk to patients and show they care.
