This teleconsult went very smoothly and efficiently with one exception. The center provided no information about how the tele consult would occur beforehand. It did not respond to my inquiries about whether this would be Zoom, Microsoft teams or a conference call. Not until the time of the appointment did I discover it would be none of the above. A video call came in unexpectedly to my cell phone number. Because of the lack of warning I was not in a location with Wi-Fi access, and lacked sufficient bandwidth for a video consult. I’m HOPING to get an appt with the highly regarded Dr Wazin; but getting a return phone call has been challenging. A staff person called once; I missed the call. Have left 3 more messages since. ??????? Either they are or are not accepting new patients. STAFF: please contact me ASAP.

Clinically “10” ... very clear description of diagnosis and options... transparent- Appreciate their approach Wish the billing / insurance part was a bit more transparent to avoid unexpected surprise balance for the services rendered (specially procedures)

I was brought back on time, the nurses were all very polite and Dr. Wazen was very nice, professional and knowledgeable. No negative issues at all.

My entire process with the Silverstein Institute has been stellar. Sabrina, who helped make the initial appt. after a doctor referral was so kind and patient; Hilary, Dr. Wazen's Nurse, was also very nice & her comments that Dr.Wazen was the best, was comforting but also right on. She also responded to my phone call in a timely manner. Unfortunately, I have a serious diagnosis but Dr. Wazen was so thorough and gave me all the answers to the questions before I even asked, was direct but in a gentle, informative way, and was patient. Dr. Wazen had always taken time to review any issues with my ear both immediately after surgery and in follow-up visits. He is always attentive and encouraging.

I had ossification of my stapies bone and was unable to hear. I also had a curved narrow ear canal. He replace part of the stapies with a prosthetic and I can hear. Basically a miracle I will always be a in awe of and the hospital and staff during surgery were wonderful. Excellent at his profession with a great outcome.

February 28, 2020 - an update to my review below: yesterday my mother received a letter from the manufacturer, confirming that her implant is in fact defective. Although Dr Wazen had no way of knowing that the implant was defective when he installed it, had his staff actually listened to my mother and taken her feedback seriously, they could have pushed the manufacturer to investigate the matter much more effectively and quickly. As it is, my mother is really too old now to have another surgery, and she doesn't want to face more disappointment and frustration. A year after her cochlear implant, my mother still can't hear. She keeps telling the audiologists what she needs and, ironically, they don't listen to her. All they do is increase the volume, which makes it harder for her to understand words. As a professional musician, my mother knows exactly what frequencies needs to be enhanced and which should be left alone. Her appointments are 6 weeks apart, which adds to the frustration. "It takes time,' is all they say. 13 months? I can't get Dr. Wazen to take my calls or reply to my letters. So now I have to find someone in Tampa and figure out how to get my 85 year-old-mother up there to get proper post-op treatment (I live in D.C.). I do NOT recommend him or his office. Dr. Wazen is the best Meniere’s doctor in town, perhaps in all of Florida. Very pleased with his care.

Met with Dr Wazen twice. He is very knowledgeable, friendly, & caring. He took time to explain my issues, answered my questions and put me at ease. I have a lot of issues with my sinuses and he explained thoroughly what options I had, looks like surgery will be my only re relief,

First class! It was my first time at their practice and I had the luck of getting taken care of by Nurse Julie and she was perfect. She was thorough and efficient and my nasal issue was taken care of painlessly.

I feel extremely fortunate to have found Dr. Wazen at the Silverstein Institute. The trips to Sarasota and his implanting of a BAHA went so smoothly. His entire staff were extremely conscientious, pleasant and helpful. My emailed questions and telephone calls were quickly answered. They were very mindful that we had a 2 hour trip and scheduled appointments that were convenient for us. Dr. Wazen has an unhurried, thorough manner which I greatly appreciated.

D.R Wazen treated me for Cogans Syndrome and hearing loss. He did surgery to give me back my hearing with. Cochlear implant. I would like to know if he does a surgery to remove fluid from the inner ear to restor my balance.
