Dr. James J Connolly

Without going into the details to make everyone depressed, Dr. Connolly performed psych evals on my ex and me, suggested my boys live with their dad, and as a result of my ex's chronic irresponsibility my son was hit by a car, was in a wheelchair and still has permanent hearing loss!

It is very difficult to provide objective psychological evaluations for the courts. Dr. Connolly is recognized as a leader in his field. It is unfortunate that persons who were disfavored in their child custody cares have left negative retributive reviews on this site.

Difficult task. Well executed. Parents undergoing child custody evaluations sometimes become irrational and vindictive and blame the evaluator for not siding with them. I thought Connolly was fair, however, even though he did not side entirely with my view of the situation.

This is a highly unprofessional and narcissistic man who has no business operating in this field. Perhaps he was once a leading forensic psychologist in the State but he has strayed off the path and entered dangerous territory. He literally made up information in the custody evaluation. This is a man who loves to save "damsels in distress" and will warp and whitewash the truth in order to do so. It is scary that this man holds so much power. Be forewarned that he is no longer trusted by his peers and several officers of the court, for good reason. Stay clear of this man. Dr. Connolly was “recommended” as the Forensic Psychologist for my child custody evaluation. From the very beginning, he was exceptionally egotistical, callous, and a narcissist. As a father of two wonderful children, I am utterly disgusted by his lack of ethics, professionalism, and compassion. He spent more time talking about himself, his vehicles, his plants, and his shrubs. His report cited which tests he administered to my ex wife and I, which detailed her personality disorders only. However, nothing more came of that other than his own strongly biased opinions based on manipulation by the same person he diagnosed as borderline. His recommendations and baseless decisions were nothing short of disgusting. His role is to provide services which offer what’s in the best interest of the minor children. Despite sessions with all parties involved, his recommendations were clearly uninformed and entirely ruthless and classless. His final report was anything short of a Stephen King novel. If you’re a loving parent who is seeking what’s the absolute best for your children, Dr. Connolly should be avoided entirely. Kids liked Connolly. His forensic evaluation got the kids the services they needed. Based on Connolly's evaluation, court granted me much more time with my kids.

This doctor lacks both ethics and common sense. His displays of arrogance, however, know no bounds. For a psychologist, this man can certainly use some psychotherapy. The man will spin facts to fit his narrative. I highly recommend that you stay away from this doctor.

Connolly did his job. Got court to see that my ex was alienating the kids. Wasn't thrilled at some of what he said about me, but he was fair, and my kids are safe!

Connolly acted in the capacity of the forensic psychology in a custody evaluation. He displayed an overly arrogant disposition, employed outdated Freudian methods, and spent the majority of time talking about himself. Honestly, I was baffled by his approach. In the end, he fell for the classic "damsal in distress" tactic that my ex employed. Despite her multiple diagnosed mental disorders, Connolly believed that she needed the children because she had nothing else. The system is clearly broken.

Based on my shocking personal experience, this man has no business practicing. Stay away!
