Dr Kaufman is a great doctor, caring, understanding, and excellent at his profession .

By far the best Dr and Surgeon in the area. He has a great bedside manner, his office staff is impeccable. He has taken care of me for years and wouldn't see anyone else. Thank You Doc and Staff for all you do for us and our families.

Dr Kaufman is extraordinary... explains everything in detail and will be able to get me on the right path to relief.. incorporating physical therapy healthy diet and mild exercise to build muscle strength. Also he make sure that MRIs are done since my case includes inflammation and arthritis.

Messed my back up real bad. Put screws in the wrong place. Caused me lots of pain & was paralyzed from the waste down for weeks. Took almost a year to be able to walk again. Then after 28 months. Had my back fixed.

Love my Dr. Kaufman, just kind of slow getting to you,but I understand why there office is short staff ,but very good at what they do.

I have been a patient of dr. Kaufman since 2017. Everyone there is very friendly helpful and understanding. They do all they can to help with your condition and pain. They take their time and truly listen to what's going on and take time to explain everything that is suggested for your care.

Dr Kaufman was excellent at explaining my condition, incredibly patient with my questions, and his supportive staff was also wonderful.... i appreciated his mindful and conservative approach to my treatment. He explained all of my options, but also provided reasonable professional opinions and listened well to my concerns. I was, as expected, nervous to see a specialist - but my experience with Dr Kaufman and his office was excellent. i feel much more educated about my condition and comfortable with my treatment plan as a result. They are working very hard to find out what's causing the leakage in my back they did not stop working they were persistent they call me to make sure that everything is okay and they are really on top of everything. I appreciate this and they give you 100% of their care they do not let you stand alone they are right there beside you.

Dr Kaufman did my first fusion surgery in 2000 , it was a long hard recovery but I went from bedridden & wheelchair to walking again and a much better quality of life. Recovering from 2 more fusion surgeries & now scar tissue being an issue we both agree a 3rd surgery would just create more scar tissue which kinda defeats the purpose of our goal. Before I got back into seeing Dr Kaufman I saw a Dr closer to home who did many surgeries on me that turned my life upside down. But finally got a car and got myself back into see Dr Kaufman. He referred me to a friend of his for pain management and any friend of Dr Kaufman in the medical field I trust completely. I saw him for many years until a fall down the stairs sent me back to dr Kaufman resulting in 2 more fusion surgeries & now scar tissue issues I'm sure wouldn't be a problem had I just seen Dr Kaufman again during those years I went to the dr that came to my home town monthly and did those surgeries that set me back . Seeing Dr Kaufman again was like seeing an old friend again & of course hope at a chance at getting back to my new normal once again. Its a long hard road but with Drs like him that don't give up on his patients , great staff , its all up to me to work hard on recovery , PT , etc etc Patience not being one of my strong suits but it's something I can work on & deal with one day at a time lol. Excellent doctor and staff. Very genuine and sincere doctor with a sense of humor and an extremely passionate physician that takes his job seriously. He goes above and beyond the call of duty, ensuring that all patients get the treatment that they need.

Dr. Kaufman and his staff are the best. Attitude and professional demeanor are always the same. Dr. Kaufman is very informative and explained my condition with the aid of his technology devices. It's always a pleasure to visit his office.

Excellent compassionate care taking time to answer all my questions.

Don't go unless you want to sit and wait long time for him. He evidently feels his time is more important that anyone else. Then I could hear him and a couple other people laughing at inappropriate comments he was making. He may be a good surgeon (I don't personally know) because he will not be doing any surgery on me.

I have been having a back and neck issue for over a year now and over that time, I have seen, supposedly some of the best doctors in the DFW area. It has been an extremely difficult year due to my back and neck issue. I started to give up on trying to solve my problem because no one has been able to figure out what is wrong. After seeing Dr. Kaufman and the rest of his staff at Surgical Consultants of America, I finally feel like I am in the right hands. Everyone at the office seemed like they really cared about my problem and that they were going to help me figure it all out. During my appointment, they gave me so much attention and I felt like I was their only patient at the time. Dr. Kaufman performed a few tests on me and reviewed some of my past MRIs. He was able to find some things that could be causing my issues and he broke down what those were and how it was affecting me. He then went on to explain that based on what he saw, I shouldn't be worried about any serious problems but he wanted me to get a few more tests and some more recent MRIs completed in order to get a better idea of what is going on with me. I left my appointment feeling like I had a plan moving forward and that I was going to be ok. And that felt good because I have felt hopeless in the past. I went to Dr. Kaufman for a scoliosis consultation. He is by far the best physician I have encountered! Needless to say, he expertise and aid alleviated my back pains. Not only was he amazing, but his staff is definitely top-notch!

His EXPERIENCE side by side with his knowledge, professionalism, understanding and kindness make us feel so safe and comfortable in the most uncertain and difficult time that we went through as my husband Armando Ramirez hurt his back unexpectedly. With my husband in the back of my SUV, in real pain, I looked in my phone, good old google, for neurosurgeon close to me, and Dr. James Kevin Kaufman appear, called his office and a very nice lady Ashely informed me that Dr. Kaufman cannot see me now because he was in surgery, I said to myself, that kind of doctor is what my husband need, I asked Ashely how long Dr. Kaufman has been preforming complex spine surgeries, Ashely reply 19 years. I explained Ashely that I have my husband in the back of my SUV in real pain, immediately told me were to find Dr. Kaufman and give me direction how to get to the hospital were Dr Kaufman was in surgery. This hospital was 56 miles from where we live, Southlake TX, I turned around and looked my husband in the back of the SUV in pain, unable to move his right leg, I knew he will need more that just an ER room in Southlake TX. I told my husband, baby hang in there we are going to drive 56 miles, but you are going to be find. As we were driving our 56 miles, I received a call from my husband ex-neurosurgeon, after that I had left 10 o more massages. He said he can see my husband at his office for steroid injection……I thank my ex-neurosurgeon and told him I have a new neurosurgeon Dr. James Kevin Kaufman he will operate my husband. Thank you but not thank you, I hung up the phone and I just realize I had said “ I had a new neurosurgeon” and Dr. Kaufman don’t even know my husband, regardless of such a minor detail !!! I felt so much peace and comfort in my heart. I really felted in my heart. You may think I’m crazy, but I formerly believed God was guiding me and I must give testimony of what happened to us. We arrived at Crescent Medical Center Lancaster Tx. went through the emergency room, I explained the ER doctor I was looking for Dr Kaufman that was in surgery, He replied in fact Dr Kaufman is in surgery at this time, ER staff got my husband comfortable for the time been. ER doctor offer to go in talk to Dr Kaufman of my husband case, about an hour later an angel appear in my husband’s ER room, there he was, Dr. James Kevin Kaufman MD. He already saw my husband MRI and he knew exactly what to do, he was so knowledgeable and explained to us exactly what my husband had and how can liberated the nerve that was pinch and almost paralyze his right leg, in plain English (and Spanish, he is bilingual). Dr. Kaufman even got a pen and draw step by step how he will operate my husband, he had 2 surgeries already schedule but he told us he will work my husband between surgeries. Dr. Kaufman knew the pain that my husband was experiencing. As Dr Kaufman said. He did operate my husband and now my husband is dancing again and ready to jump in his Harley, but he has to wait a bit for that, he just had surgery 5 weeks ago July 30 2019. Dr. Kaufman and his staff bring a whole different level of customer experience to the medical field. I’ve always been one who believes in staying away from the doctor unless I may be dying, not because I’m tough or immune to the common cold, but because I dread the experience of a doctors office. Kaufman and his staff changed this mindset completely. The lobby wait time was non-existent, everything in the building was clean and made me feel free of germs, and the staff went above and beyond to make you feel welcome and feel like you aren’t in the most miserable place in the world (aka a doctors office). Dr. Kaufman did an amazing job, not only did clarify any concerns or doubts I had about what was happening to my mother and what would need to be done to fix it, he was able to explain it all in a way both my elderly mother and I could understand. Mom is back walking and confident again!! This man is a blessing! Sure we had a 25 minute wait to see him, so what? Totally worth it.

Dr. Kaufman was one of the only docs my primary care physician recommended for my situation. To make things even better he also took my insurance. Wonderful and humorous man, made me feel calm and assured through the entire ordeal.

Dr Kaufman was extremely informative and answered all of my questions concerning my pain and options for surgery. I had no problems with getting an appointment quickly and his staff was very professional. 2 weeks post surgery and I couldn't be happier! I would recommend Dr Kaufman to anyone!

This guy is a menace. He over prescribes pain meds. Recommends unnecessary and dangerous procedures. The day of my surgery i was told my insurance had not approved my surgery because the facility was not accepted. When i asked about doing it ar the hospital i was told Kaufman didnt have surgical privileges anywhere else. Thos guy moves is office and changes staff frequently. He has been disqualified by workers comp for all the above reasons. He disappeared for 3 months. Beware of this guy!!!

I absolutely love Dr Kaufman. He has performed multiple low lumbar surgeries on me. Ranging from a 360* low lumbar to laminectomy , and disctinectomy . He makes me laugh when I am crying from pain, he answers my calls day and night. He is my doctor and my friend. A miracle worker on my spine since 2012.
