Dr. James Edward Shadbolt

Dr. Shadbolt was kind, professional, knowledgeable and helpful. He addressed my issues quickly, did the ingrown toenail surgery same day, and scheduled my next one for two weeks out! Can wait to get this fixed for good!

Dr. Shadbolt and his staff are very friendly and professional. Gave me all the options for treatment and was a good consultant. I will be going back later this spring for orthotics. Best podiatrist I've been to.

It’s been a while since I have been to him, but the times in the past that I saw him, he was great. He is very informative and patient with his patients. An all around great doctor.

Each time I visited, I received a different diagnosis. On my last visit, the good doctor wouldn't even address my concerns over possible damage to my foot caused by the injections I received during my previous visits. Why he felt the need to press on the most painful part of my foot and leave me in agony is beyond me.

Dr. Shadbolt was the second podiatrist I saw after having a bad experience with another doctor. He is professional and knowledgeable and I was happy with the treatment he offered. I would recommend him to anyone looking for a podiatrist in the Richmond area.

I have loved coming to this practice for my podiatry needs. Dr Shadbolt and his staff are wonderful to work with, they are all nice, polite, have good senses of humor, and are warm and welcoming. Dr Shadbolt has all the equipment on hand you’ll need to help you. He has an X-ray machine, he can make orthotic inserts in house (no waiting!). He did try to avoid surgery for me, but that didn’t work out. The surgery went great though! All stitches are internal so the scaring is minimal. I’m so grateful Dr Shadbolt and his team were recommended to me! I have loved coming to this practice for my podiatry needs. Knowledgeable, skilled surgeon and personable manner

Dr. Shadbolt is very pleasant and listens to your concerns, however, I found the staff, receptionist and nurse very rude and condescending. Avoiding them makes the visit much better. Just wish I didn't have to go through the receptionist to ask a question or make an appointment.

Great experience and great doctor!

A little late with this review , but that's due to that he fixed my Heels, and an issue with a toe knuckle that needed attention. I don't have any heel pain or foot problems any more . Great Foot Dr. and nice person.

Dr. Shadbolt is one of the best out there. He always listens to what I have to say and he is kind and considerate. I highly recommend him to everyone that I know. He is the best, And the best at bedside manner. He himself even called me the day after my surgery that was very impressive.

Dr Shadbolt and staff are so kind and knowledgeable. He operated on my foot for bunion 2 years ago and recovery was a breeze since I followed doctors orders. Just saw him today to evaluate my other foot. Going to schedule for September. Looking forward to getting it fixed!!

A great doctor, very helpful and friendly.

Shadbolt provided the wrong information to me. I was told my feet wouldn't improve without surgery and then tried FootSolutions since my foot pain made me kind of desperate. FootSolutions proved him absolutely wrong.

Was referred by another dr. He was very attentive and did an xray to get to root of problem. He gave me my options either an insert or surgery and after giving me detailed on both I decided to go with surgery because my pain was unbearable. I first went to Dr. Shadbolt in an emergency situation with a degloved toe. As I was being worked into his busy schedule, I had a short wait and when I saw him, he assessed the situation and addressed the pain first. Then he took care of reducing the compound fracture and stitching me up. My toe healed beautifully and toe nail grew back; I don't think I would have gotten those results from an emergency room visit. I have since been back to Dr Shadbolt with an ankle fracture and various other issues with my feet. He and his staff are always kind and professional. This office has the rudest and the most unhelpful staff front office staff, clearly sanctioned by Dr. Shadbolt.

Patient and thorough. Gentle when performing surgeries. Also strikes me as a very nice man. I have recommended him to several people and they have all been pleased.

Very disappointed. Spent very little time with me. What time he did spend I found him to be dismissive and condescending. Asked me hardly any questions and gave me no time to ask mine. Wanted to take ex rays with out any explanation . I would like my $60.00 co-pay back.

Dr. Shadbolt is an excellent surgeon and takes great care of his patients. He operated on my foot and I got an excellent result. Now I am going back for something new. I highly recommend him. .... I am now 24 hrs post injection to my heel by Dr. Shadbolt and my pain is 100% gone.

Had bilateral bunionectomies about 6 months apart. Last one Dec. 2016 I could not be happier. The practice is run smoothly, efficiently. Staff members very kind and knowledgeable. Excellent! Very efficient office! Dr. Shadbolt is truly an expert in his field, very informative,professional, dedicated. My feet feel great, I was hurtin for certin when I first came to the office, but after two visits I'm dancing with the stars. Thanks a ton!

Very impressed with this place starting with making my appointment and being called back with a cancellation appointment time opened up, then meeting the friendly staff & The Dr. was so easy to get along with and made you feel at home. Conversation was real but funny too. Did ingrown nail surgery on 2 toes on left foot then 2 weeks later 2 toes on my right foot & let me tell you after the pain injections that go deep and will make you say a curse word or 2... The rest was easy breezy. I refer anybody to go here. I'm very happy with the job done & my toes/toenails look better than normal . I went to Dr. Shadbolt for Morton's Neuroma. I had two appointments with him; diagnosis and treatment and a second for treatment (cortisone shots). Neither worked. I called his office to speak to him about my situation going forward. He did not return my call. I called back two days later and left a second message. I received a call back giving me his message that in order to ask my question, I would have to make an appointment and see him. I feel this is cumbersome and not patient friendly.

Dr. Shadbolt and his team are absolutely AMAZING! I would highly recommend seeing them for any of your foot related issues. Very caring, thoughtful and all around great people!

He is the greatest Doctor ever and I sincerely mean that. He has a great bed side manner and can put you at ease right away. He knows his business and the out come is just as says it will be. I had surgery only a few months ago and now even though I work for the Post Office and am on my feet 10 to 12 hours a day my feet no longer hurt at all. I only wish now he would work on backs!!!!

Excellent doctor. He performed two separate bunionectomies on my feet and 16 years later, my feet are still straight! When I visited him, he was next to Retreat Hospital like the pictures above.
