Dr. John Lewis Hyatt

After being in serious joint pain, I have found relief with treatment by Dr. Hyatt. He and his staff are wonderful and so caring. It is obvious from beginning to end of the treatment that Dr. Hyatt and his staff are extremely knowledgeable of their work. All are professional and friendly and make one feel welcome each visit. I will be forever grateful and will recommend Dr. Hyatt to others in need of his services.

I would highly recommend Dr. Hyatt and his team for gum graft surgery. They were very professional and made me feel at ease during the surgery and post surgery visits.

Who likes to have gum and dental work? No one! I can honestly say, however, that from the moment I met with Dr Hyatt and the wonderful women in his office I was at ease. Dr Hyatt has a calm confidence which is exactly what you want from a doctor. All of the women in his office treated me as if I were an old friend of theirs and were incredibly helpful and attentive. I’m now 4 months post surgery (gum grafting) and my grafts are pink and healthy. I’ve had no problems. I was referred here several years ago for TMJD treatment. The staff was nice, and it's not their fault I was better served in later years by just going to TMJD-specific physical therapy. But Dr. Hyatt was rude and wouldn't listen to me. I have sensory processing issues and when I tried to make notes when he was talking to me, he got upset and told me to stop and that taking notes would keep me from listening to him. I've never been able to forget that. When I had issues during the initial appliance trial, he was very dismissive and seemed insistent that I had no options but to wear a device that made me drool, gag, and slur my words... all the time, indefinitely. I decided not to spend any more money with his practice. It turns out I didn't need an appliance after all, I needed a course of physical therapy. Wonderful dr. And exceptional staff.

I can’t say enough great things about Dr Hyatt and his staff after spending a year with them getting my locking jaw issue corrected. It was a time consuming process that required many appointments but in the end it was worth it because my jaw does not lock up anymore and surgery was my only other option. Exceptional, remarkable, outstanding, and the most to me a life changer. Dr. Hyatt changed my life. This man’s profession is just important as a Cardiologist, Neurologist, or even an Oncologist. Why is that you may ask? Here is a back story of my battle with TMJ and constant grinding away of my teeth. Teenage years approached me. Somewhere along the way I began clinching my jaw. My Mother kept telling me to take care of my teeth. Beware of when I clinched and to stop doing it. I remember her telling me many times “you are clinching your jaw; you are grinding your teeth away”. My dentist started me wearing night guards. This worked fine for nights but I was unaware how much I was grinding and clinching during the day. My headaches were unbearable. I was chewing through the expensive night guards every year and my teeth were slowly going away. Years pass by. My dentist never suggested any other treatment than the night guards even with my teeth getting stress fractures from the constant pressure. Back to my mom she told me enough is enough. Ask the dentist for a referral to go see Dr. Hyatt. She told me Dr. Hyatt saved her teeth when she was going through the “change of life”. So I did. First day meeting Dr. Hyatt I was nervous and to be honest a little ashamed I waited so long. I loved his honesty and direct instructions. After his very in depth exam he looked directly in my eyes and said "I can fix you". I met with the staff and talked about the cost. All out of pocket insurance did not cover my care. I thought back to my mom and the yearly cost of night guards, bad headaches, and constant jaw pain. I handed them my credit card and said let do it. I made many visits to Dr. Hyatt wearing different guards though out the day and different ones at night. With Dr. Hyatt adjusting my bite with polishers, gridding equipment, and the smell of my teeth going up in the air I was thinking to myself, I came in here with very little teeth and I will leave here not have anything left. Fast forward a year or two, Dr. Hyatt told me his job was finished. Sounds weird, but I was kind of sad. I was not going to see this man again which fixed my problems. Now let’s fast forward eight years, yes eight years. I was eating dinner when I felt a tooth chip. I thought to myself, oh no here I go again I will start grinding and clinching all over. I thought if I go to my dentist he will repair it and my bite will get off and my storm will began. I looked up Dr. Hyatt phone number in hopes he was still in practice. To a blessing I heard “Thank you for calling Dr. Hyatt office”. Today I left his office. My bite is still spot on! I am still wearing the same night guard he gave me eight years ago and looks barely wore. My TMJ pain, gridding, and clinching is still gone for eight years now. I’ve worked with Dr. Hyatt and his staff to fix my TMD problems over the past year. I was referred here by my dentist. This office became like a family. After college my teeth were in bad shape. Dr. Hyatt worked wonders and literally saved my teeth. I have come to this awesome Periodontist twice a year for 39 years and am very grateful for the work he did, and the continuing care he provides. I wish I could give him a hundred stars. I highly recommend Dr. John Hyatt's office. The entire staff is very knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. Shannon was extremely helpful with our insurance issues. Our insurance denied our claim several times and it eventually had to be appealed. Shannon helped me each time they needed additional information and even did the appeal for us. I probably would've given up and never gotten reimbursed if she hadn't been there to help me. They already had their money, so she didn't really have a reason to continue to help me...other than going above and beyond to help a patient. That really shows that they care. I also had to call her personal cell phone at 9:00 at night because my daughter was having an issue that scared me. She answered and talked me through what I needed to do. When you call Dr Hyatt’s office, you get your first pleasant experience when you talk with his office staff. Always friendly and helpful. Makes you want to come to his office! Then you come in for your appointment and meet the dental staff. Again, friendliness all the way. While you are sitting in the dental chair, you get close up views of a variety of birds visiting the bird feeders - cardinals, goldfinch, purple finch, thrush, woodpeckers, and more. And, oh yeah, the dentist, Dr Hyatt. He is, guess what, friendly and competent. He explained my procedures, which I was nervous about. I am very satisfied with my treatment by Dr. Hyatt. As he explains, the joint involved is very complex and the solution differs for every individual. He spent every visit analyzing my bite and coming up with an appliance to correct it. We're fortunate that we don't have to go far to receive excellent, professional care.

After hearing horror stories about grafts, i was very apprehensive about having this done. We were referred to Dr. Hyatt by an oral surgeon because our 16-year-old daughter was in excruciating pain. Her jaw was locked, and she could barely eat. Dr. Hyatt immediately diagnosed her as having a displaced disk in her temporomandibular joint (TMJ). He put her jaw back in place and made appliances for her to wear at all times (one for eating, one for sleeping, and one for all other times). Within a week, she noticed a reduction in pain, and within two months, the pain was completely gone, even when she opened her mouth as far as possible. He explained that the appliances are holding the disk in place so that the tissue behind it can heal, so she has continued to wear the appliances for several more months. She says they are all comfortable, and we barely notice the ones she wears during the day. We couldn't have asked for a better result, and Dr. Hyatt and his staff are professional and kind. Couldn't do anything for my jaw but suggested treatment for my bite which was a long, unnecessary, and expensive procedure which left my teeth worse off than if left untreated

I had a dull, constant headache for over a year. Last year I had an occasion where I felt like I pulled a muscle in my jaw. I didn't think anything of it, because it went away. Until this year, when I woke up one morning and could not open my mouth because I was in so much pain. After being referred to Dr. Hyatt, I found out about TMD. I wore a mouth piece for three months and it was like a miracle. Due to most likely grinding my teeth at night, stress in my life, and my jaw out of alignment, I was in pain most of the time.
