Dr. John R Owens

My experience with Dr. Owns (and his whole office) has been a good one. He is focused, he listens and evaluates according to all the information he has and he does'nt jump into a conclusion. He gives it a little thought. He is a very experienced Dr. and I would recommend him and his staff for your medical needs

Front office staff is terrible, rude and disrespectful. Natalie needs serious work on her customer service skills. I felt unwelcome and disrespected.

He spent 2 minutes in the room with me. He had his assistant, Laura, do all the questioning, then strode into the room and announced that he would be doing a laparoscopic hysterectomy on me. I asked a question as quickly as I could about my cancer risk but I had to chase him out into the hallway in my paper gown to finish my sentence because he wasn't interested in my question. Dr. Owens delivered our 2nd child and our daughter was in a Frank’s Breech position and Dr. Owens is one of the few doctors in town that will do a Breeched vaginal delivery from what the labor and delivery nurses informed us. My wife has been a patient of Dr. Owens for over 9 years and she has full trust in him. Dr. Owens will explain your options based on your specific situation and let you decide. My wife has had multiple complications with her reproductive organs over the years and post delivery. We’re 110% positive that God put Dr. Owens in my wife’s life and as her husband I feel so humbly grateful and blessed that she is under the care of such an amazing and experienced doctor. Dr. Owens delivered our 2nd baby. And he will also deliver our 3rd. He's an amazing doctor. I wish I had him with my 1st. Highly recommend.

Dr. Owens is probably one of the few OBGYNs in town that legitimately cares for the health and well being of his patients, and wants to ensure both safety and comfort during delivery and exams. I will be delivering my second child with him this month and would not trust anyone else with my pre and post natal care. His office is great about short notice appointments if needed, and Laura and Marissa are fantastic NPs if he is not available. Appointments are fairly quick with little wait. Highly recommend him and his staff.

Only putting one star because I have to put at least one. I was put on the phone with the MA today and she was very rude and condescending and told me that since I live in Kern County I probably have either chlamydia or gonorrhea. Didn't matter when I told her I have had one partner my whole life who I have been married to for 16 years and that he hasn't been with anyone but me since we have been together. Her answer was that I live in Kern County. They then refused to let me get an appointment with the doctor and said "Good luck finding an OB who will actually take you." The only reason Dr. Owens isn't getting 1 star is because HE is a good doctor. His ultra sound tech, Laney, needs some serious help with her customer service. She was extremely rude and overall a horrendous lady. She made my son cry, and made me and my wife feel like we were breaking the rules AFTER Dr. Owens gave us the ok to be in the ultrasound room. Apparently, she runs the show. Horrible experience, never going back. I am actually surprised that we gave this office 4 visits, I wish we would have ditched this office after the first visit. My wife visited him today She thinks he is excellent and coming from her that he is REALLY excellent do not go elsewhere

Dr Owen's delivered my 2nd baby, we had a great experience with his office. His nurses are very nice. At all of my appointments him and Laura were very thorough, the Dr even came up to my hospital room the next day to see how my baby and I were doing. Definitely recommend ????

Dr Owens I love he’s amazing, staff is trash and rude. Doesn’t listen to your concerns and treat you like dirt. Wish he’d fix his office.

Dr Owens is absolutely the best around. However, I will not be back to this office. The office manager implemented a new policy of having to have your insurance card in hand and if you don’t you have to reschedule. It would of been nice to know that was the new rule before arriving. I drive 3 hours for my appointment, because I trust Dr Owens and having a Pap smear is hard enough. I had a copy of my insurance card, just not the card. The office manager would not allowing me to email it to her. Stating that it wasn’t secure. I could of sent it secure email as I am the CNO of a hospital, but the office manager didn’t care to help solve the problem. Maybe they have an over abundance of patients and need to slim down. I can only imagine how many patients they have lost over this new policy and not notifying their clients of the change. I am fine with policy changes as I deal with that all the time, but we always make every effort we can to help our patients and maintain a good relationship. Very disappointed in the office staff. Loved his nurse practitioner she’s the best only got her first name Laura. I felt comfortable and at ease. Wish I had her when I had my last baby.

Now that I know the office exists, I won’t go to anyone else ever again for an obgyn. My first pregnancy was handled with such care and commitment. I felt listened to and I trust him and Dr. Laura completely.

Laura is not supportive at all Dr Owens doesnt make eye contacts he’s too worried about his tablet Both are not on the same page telling me two different things The MAs are rude as hell never smile or interact with patients The only nice person is lainie the ultrasound tech. The only person who was understanding and supportive about me loosing my child as they watched for weeks. By far the ONLY reason why I go there. Great doctor and nurses practitioner.. the other staff is rude and no bedside manner.. if you had emergency medical problems they won’t care..still have to wait two week to be able to be seen

I give 2 stars because the doctor is good. But his MA are very rude. If you want to get treated bad for asking question give his office a call and they will do that.

I just had a total hysterectomy by Dr. John Owens and couldn't be more pleased with the outcome. I was very frightened, but he explained and explained, and everything went just as well as he said it would. I went home the day after the surgery and am really astonished at how well I am doing. The tiny incisions will heal nicely and the pain is very manageable, just like he told me. Kind man with a sense of humor too! Thanks Dr. Owens! From 2013 on my first visit until current: Dr. Owens is a WONDERFUL Dr., and cares about his patients well-being. I love his bedside manners and his ability show concern of one's feelings. He does articulate on issues of interest putting emphasis where needed., answering questions, explaining problems, as well as putting the easy back on "my nerves". I would like to graciously thank him for making a complex career appear effortless, despite other issues of extensive reviews. Dr. John Owen is the best, as was( Dr. Elliott my regular OBGYN) and Laura is amazing. I trust Laura the PA with Dr.Owens , and Dr. Owens with all my heart. Laura is extremely through and caring, you will not find a kinder or more knowledgeable Physicians Assistant. Her knowledge and patience is God sent. Dr. Owens makes you feel at ease. He is quirky in a good way. Also in the visits to his office i was always treated with respect and whether i saw Dr. Owens or his NP Laura, they always took the time to explain everything and answer any questions my husband and i asked.

Visits were "ok" according to wife, but I am leaving a bad review because of one experience that just infuriated me. I pay a lot of money for my health insurance each month. Even with that we feel like our voice is hardly heard. Well come today when we elected to induce the birth of our child. We had an appointment Monday and were 39 weeks at the time. Wife was in a lot of pain so we got the doctor to agree to induce at 39 weeks. He, wanted to point out again "HE", put in the paperwork or wha

Best experience delivering my firt Child .To bad I moved out of state he is a great Doctor havent had one like him.

I love love love Dr Owens! He was so sweet and Laura is the best nurse practitioner in town. Prisilla is super sweet too. Would recommend to any woman

He is a wonderful doctor! He delivered both of my children and was both supportive and encouraging through two miscarriages in between my two children. Amazing bedside manner and always stays until every question is answered. Highly recommend Dr. Owens!

Great doctor. Have been with him through all my pregnancies. Never rushed and all my questions are always answered. & I don't wait hours to see him. Love him.

It's been years since this wonderful Doctor spent time to find the damage the Polio virus was doing to my bladder when I was 14. Because he loves technology he had the equipment do look inside my bladder and find that it is small and rigid. If I had been an adult I would have said that it felt like the mother of all Bladder Infections. However I was a child and had neither the experience nor the vocabulary. For years I have been thankful for this kind man, excellent Doctor for his examination. I would most definitely recommend Dr. Owens as he does not rush you during OB appointments, answers questions that are easy to comprehend and his staff at the office is WONDERFUL!
