THE WORSTTTT experience. Switched to this Dr mid pregnancy during my first appointment dr allsup assured me they would fill out anything I needed since I was going cold turkey on depression medication and was having the withdrawal period couldn’t work efficiently but then the front office and MAs said that wasn’t able to be done ???????????? Dealing with getting paperwork to my job was nearly impossible and took multiple phone calls made the whole pregnancy so stressful. Then after delivery I went in for 6 week and requested to schedule a tubal litigation and the nurse practitioner Alex said they would put me on a “list” because there was “sooo many people waiting” and I NEVER got another call about it 4 months went by I had to make the call to schedule and the office manager was willing to schedule it however I had twins couldn’t make the time immediately but when I tried to call and schedule when I was ready the front office just shut it down and said they couldn’t bill my Medicaid since it was past the 6 weeks of delivery which makes NO sense because the information wasn’t even given to the office manager when it should’ve been. She literally told me any other office will bill it but not them. DON’T RECOMMEND AT ALL IF YOU WANT A SMOOTH PROCESS ALONG WITH HIGH RISK PREGNANCY.

When I was called to make the appointment, I stated that I was already 37 weeks along and was being seen in a different state for prenatal care before I moved back to SA. Told me they'd send an email so I could send my insurance info which I never received. I was unable to reach them as they called on a Friday and set up the appointment for Monday. I get here and they're confused when I say I'm not here for an annual, that it should be OB. 50 minutes wasted to be told I can't be seen without my medical records, which I could have brought with me if they had paid attention to what I was saying during the initial scheduling. I'll be looking for another provider through my insurance directory.

I have never given a review to my OB's in the past because, either their staff are not accommodating or heartless or my doctor was taking time to attend to me. This is the first time that I was treated with so much kindness and comfort as a patient. From setting up an appointment, to their reminders, to the beautiful location, to checking in, to Dr Allsup checking on me and even checking out. Everyone was busy but did not fail to be helpful and amazing. It felt like a dream to be honest. Thank you for the wonderful service. I will recommend this clinic all day long.

I have used Dr Allsup over 10 years now and she is great! Scheduling is easy and I even pay out of pocket to come here, she is super nice and always listens to your needs.

I’ve been going here for 3 years now.. I always see the NP Valerie and I just love her, so down to earth and will listen to any worries or concerns I had. I got pregnant last year so had to see Dr. Allsup, she was nice but honestly I rather see Valerie lol Dr Allsup delivered my son this past May and was very pleased with her and the staff.. yes I had to wait more than an hour at times but it’s an OB I didn’t expect anything different. Took a friend to see this Dr. Charged her 100.00 with insurance. She waited over 1 hour to be seen by Dr. Allsup. Dr. walked in ONLY SPEND LESS THAN 5 MINUTES with her. Charged her and gets paid by insurance as well BUT provided little to no medical advice or guidance. I would not recommend this Dr. unless you have $$$ to throw away and get nothing in return. Dr. Allsup is amazing. She delivered both of my children with no complications. She is very caring and always makes sure I am comfortable during procedures.

Love her!!! She delivered all 3 of my babies, just had my last one in April. I was high risk and she was very Attentive and informative the whole step of the way. I was in bed rest and she saw me every day and answered all my questions. I was a patient of Dr. Allsup's for 6 years. She has delivered 2 of my children. While being pregnant this year everything seemed normal, and I went for my regular check- ups. Of course there was usually a 1 to 2 hour wait to be seen so be smart and take a snack and some water, and charge your phone before you go. As I was nearing the end of my pregnancy, 32 weeks, I was being to experience severe swelling, headaches, dizzy spells, and decreased urine output. I made an appt to see Dr. Allsup and was told that I would have to see the NP. What a freaking mistake. I had gained 15 pounds in 2 weeks and was feeling horrible, she told me "this is the end of your pregnancy. Every woman experiences the end differently." (again this is my 3rd pregnancy) She gave me medication for my symptoms but never did blood work or a follow up. 4 weeks later, and feeling worse, I saw Dr. Allsup, and after another 12 pound weight gain was told to do a full blood work up and to do a 24 hour urine collection. I did as I was told, turned in my 24 hour urine and waited for my results. The following week I thought I was going to die. I was beyond sick and could not move from the downstairs couch. I called the doctor's office and asked to be seen. This was a Thursday, one week after my urine collection. After waiting the usual hour to be seen Dr. Allsup entered the room and proceeded to yell at me for coming to her office and not being at the hospital. I looked at her and asked her if she had the right patient. She said that I was supposed to have been admitted since Monday and that I was suffering from preeclampsia and I was putting my baby and myself at risk. I felt the tears stinging my eyes, and told her that her office never called me... they NEVER EVER CALLED ME... I went to the hospital, called my husband, and my family to come into town. After arriving at the hospital and having tests done, nearly had a seizure, the doctor on call decided that my daughter needed to be born at 37weeks and 6 days due to my high blood pressure. She began Pitocin Thursday night. I had good contractions and my cervix was ripening. I was in the beginning stages of labor. Friday afternoon, Dr. Allsup finally decided to show up to the hospital. She said that she was leaving to Austin for the weekend for her son's soccer game and that she wouldn't be back until Monday. I told her that I didn't care and would deliver with whomever was available. She said no... She had them stop the Pitocin, and had them continue to treat my preeclampsia. (just because you stop the pit doesn't mean the contractions stop). So I sat there agonizing, contracting until Sunday. On Sunday night, they began the Pitocin again, since Dr. Allsup had returned to town. She had the nurse ask me if I wanted my water broken and I said no, that I would do this naturally. She obviously didn't like my answer since she didn't even show up to check on me during labor. Shortly after my water broke I felt like I needed to push, and was told that Dr.Allsup thought it was too soon and that she was busy with another patient having her baby. A few minutes past 5pm and I could feel my daughter literally slipping out of me. One of the random nurses told me not to push that I needed to wait for Dr. Allsup. I WASN'T WAITING ON THIS DAMN DOCTOR ANYMORE. My daughter came into this world with the help of my parents and my only nurse Dita. (My water broke by 2:30pm and my daughter entered this world by 5:17pm.) Dr. Allsup came in too late to do a damn thing. Pick your OB/GYN wisely. I was a patient of Dr. Allsup's for 6 years. Karen Allsup has delivered both of my children and the second time was at this newer location. She’s knowledgeable, actually listens, and shows up when you’re delivering. The wait times are understandable as she’s the only physician at this office and attends to emergency situations at times. At the end of the day my experience overall has been great. Well I have a lot to say but will keep it short. If I could give no stars I would start off office manager Liz very unprofessional, dr is never there I raley saw dr when I was a high risk patient. Was charged for documents that were not to have been charged then ordered my medical records and they were not complete when changing drs. I gave them all the symptoms I was having and they told me it was normal come to find out by new provider I had prenatal depression and now postpartum depression. Getting Dr Allsup's office staff to answer the phones or return a medical emergency call is like pulling teeth. I've been spotting for 3 days now after an ER visit and was took by ER Dr to follow up with my ob I've left 3 voicemails for the medical assistant and no return call. I called to try and make an appt. Was hung up on and no return call. I understand I'm not the only pregnant female out there but surely you want to try and act like you care about your patients especially if they are high risk. Unfortunately because of the staff i will not be returning. That's too bad because there isn't any way to let the Dr know her staff Cant handle something so simple like getting me an appointment. Dr. Allsup is a very nice Dr. But her staff is not at all sympathetic and are very unprofessional to patients. Even when you call in extreme pain & in tears you still get “She is booked” no other option but to wait 5 days to be seen. I had been with her for 8 years, but after this unpleasant experience I will not be recommending her or going back. My case may not have been urgent to them but I was very worried and in pain and that didn’t seem to matter. I was the one who kept calling almost begging to be seen and they care all I kept getting was “Okie Dokie” & “ Honey”. They kept interrupting me when ever I would try to tell them what was wrong. It is a shame because again Dr. Allsup is very knowledgeable and would talk me through everything. But her staff makes you feel insignificant. Dr Allsup is fine but the wait to see her is beyond ridiculous. My wife was asked to come in early before her appointment time and she still waited almost an hour and a half for a 5 minute visit with the doc. The times I've gone with her we've never been out of there in less than an hour. What's the point of having an appointment if you can't even keep it. You can't even plan anything after because you're waiting so long. Staff could care less that you're waiting. Dr Allsup is fine but the wait to see her is beyond ridiculous. Was here twice. The first time I had to wait for Dr. Allsup like an hour after my appointment time. The second time came in with really bad sudden intense cramping was told depending on the ultrasound results I may have to go to the er... it's the next day, I still haven't found out my results and was told that I won't know for a few days because Dr. Allsup is really busy. I said what I am I just supposed to wait if I have to go to the e.r.? "Oh well she had to leave for a delivery" Now they say they will call me today, we will see.. She bit off more than she can chew. Had much first child with her and now I'm going to her for my second she is the best

I've been a patient of Dr. Allsup for about three years now. She's always been so kind and understanding. There's been a select few times when she was out of the office unexpectedly and I had to see the mid wife, but other than that the staff is nice and the Dr. is great.

My experience with Dr. Allsup was awesome. She was kind and was well informed about the condition no one had ever bothered to go over with me before.

Dr. Allsup is awesome. She is very caring, attentive, and has a wonderful sense of humor. I never feel rushed during my visits with her. She listens, and takes her time to explain her findings. Every time I've called the office with a follow-up question from a recent visit, either Dr. Allsup or her assistant has gotten back to me before end of day. Everyone in the office is super friendly, and very accommodating.

I've been going to Dr. Allsup for about 4 years now and absolutely love her! She is kind and gentle. Before your exam she will come in and introduce herself before beginning, which is nice. She does her best to calm your fears and make sure you're informed about your care and options. They have an app to keep up with your labs, appointments and medications, which is great with staying on top of your care. I am pregnant and Dr Allsup has proven time and time again, how much she cares about me physically, emotionally and the health of my baby. One thing that I absolutely love is that she has done before and does her best to make it to every delivery. She truly wants to be there for you and give you the birthing experience YOU desire and deserve! Her nurse practitioner & midwife Samantha is amazing too! Very gentle and informative. I haven't used her as a midwife but I don't doubt that she is amazing at that role too! The patience, compassion and interest in your health that they both exhibit is unparalleled to most doctors in San Antonio! Give them a try! The only reason I give 4 stars, is because their wait times can get long sometimes. At least it is worth the wait because Dr Allsup and Samantha will never rush you or make you feel as though you're an inconvenience.
