About Katrina A Rolen
Reviews for Katrina A Rolen
I had the absolute worst experience with this provider. I had waited to write a review because she made me believe that everything was just me, but after finally having the visit notes, I felt that how she treats and mentally manipulates patients needs to be known. I was referred for polycythemia, not only due to my elevated labs, but the symptoms I experience as well. We drove 3+ hours just to be berated and talked down to in an extremely vapid manner. She chose to blame my reaction to her vapid demeanor for my symptoms and elevated labs. She also blamed it on my perfectly controlled T1D, and said I was overweight in which I am not. Her chart notes are extremely condescending and shows how little she truly cares about people going through a health scare and just trying to get answers and rule things out. I left crying because of how truly mean she was towards me. Based on my experience, she should not be doing any form of medical work that concerns terminal illnesses if she is unable to handle herself and have even the bare minimum of bedside manner.
Shop around. Terrible oncologist. No empathy for patients and their families. Scapegoats used for answers. Could give a whole list of things bad about this doctor. There is a reason she is located where she is. Go to a more populated area where there is a lot more competition and better doctors for choices. Do your homework, and don't fall for her bs.
Well its taken a little time to write this but felt the need to share my experience with Ms Roland. She was in charge of my first go round with OxY platin, NASTY STUFF. Turns out I was the poster boy for symptoms on this particular choice in drugs. I was admitted for dehydration twice and went from 212 lbs to 174 in a matter of weeks. I was literally starving to death but the treatments continued. This dr told me after my first consult, with no one else in the room said to me I had the worst attitude towards life than anyone in recent memory! This is to the best of my recollection. Angry , unfriendly, troubled might be terms to define her. I remember thinking that I must have reminded her of her ex or something. After talking to other oncologists, they say I should have been taken off on first session. They asked me if I wanted anti-nausea medicine before leaving the infusion clinic? I said, I have an iron gut I shouldnt need anything. WELL, let me tell you I threw up my toenails I was so fricking sick over the weekend. I find out everywhere else its simply protocol to have antinausea medicine particularlly with OxyPlatin. I was in the infusion clinic and belive me the nurses dont like her either. I was sitting next to an elderly woman and expressing my feelings about Roland and she overheard me. She thanked me and said "I thought it was me" in regards to Rolands Nasty attitude. DO NOT GO TO THIS WOMAN!!!! Empathy was missing, she needs to get help or retire.
The patient/physician relationship is important the patient should do their do diligence have questions to ask the doctor in order to get the most out of the appointment time! Dr Rolen has answered my questions to my satisfaction
Cutaneous T-Cell Lymphoma: The oncologist in Las Cruces , Memorial Cancer Center said the chemo therapy I received at Gerald Champion Cancer in Alamogordo was not necessary. The Memorial Cancer Center oncologist said chemo therapy was not necessary. There was no cancer in the organs or bone marrow. Yes, the cancer is appearing as a skin rash. I will have this life long. I will monitor for any future outbreak other than the skin. Occasionally I will have bloodwork to check for cancer cell activity. The rash is controlled with medicated skin cream. End Item
The staff at Dr. Rolen's office were great. They were extremely factual about my condition and explained everything in terms that I could understand.
I couldn't be happier. I am always treated extremely well and with respect. The staff is among the best I have ever encountered and are very pleasant with lots of smiles.
Totally insensitive to your needs, a lzard will give you better attention.
My visit Thursday, August 12, 2021 went well, Albert, Dode, were so helpful with my appointment and insurance. Heather went over my recent blood test with me, she was please to see my blood platelets increased. Everyone there were so pleasant, professional and caring. I didn't see Dr. Rolen this visit but I did meet with her on May 6, 2021 for my new patient appointment. Dr. Rolen was very caring and professional. Thank you, Caroline J. Trenary
All staff and doctor were friendly, and for me went beyond what would normally be done.As I am severely hearing impaired and read lips, using regular masks make it impossible for me to understand. Both doctor and nurses made sure I understood all that would go on, and covered everything i needed to know. I was even asked if I needed an interpreter(which was lovely, but not needed), which is something no other doctor has ever asked me. Doctor was very reassuring, and I left feeling calm and confident. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone who needed a hemotologist.
I have seen Heather and she explains the lab work in a way one can understand
I felt very rushed (I was told I was 10 minutes late -but my clock in the car showed I arrived on time). Nothing was explained and there has never been an examination of my entire body (I have malignant melanoma and the booklets sent with the meds and they say that it will be done). I get the feeling that I have made her angry and she doesn't care. The office staff is exceptionally nice and so is Heather.
Ongoing CLL problem, Dr Rolen replaced a fine gentleman that DID have empathy and compassion and WAS willing to hear our concerns, I resent being treated like a number by someone who radiates indifference to her patients. A small amount of humanity shown to people at a very difficult time in their life would make this practice a positive experience. As it stands now, not a referable physician.
routine visit
Visit went well. Dr. Rolen had the results of my labs and discussed them with me. The wait was minimal, and I was in and out in no time.
I always see Heather and I love talking with her. She is patient, calming, thorough and helpful. I'm glad she's there for me.
Everyone was friendly and helpful. Dr. Role is a good doctor.
Dr Rolen and her staff are very compassionate and caring!
I always have good experiences with Dr Rolen as I have been a patient of hers every since she arrived at GCRMC.
Her staff is very friendly and caring. She is very good in caring for her patients
She had the difficult responsibility of telling me I had stage four liver cancer. She was to the point, compassionate, and offered options I could accept if Iso chose.
Excellent...she is very helpful with explanations and the staff is wonderful to work with.
As a Registered Nurse, I can be a bit critical of medical care. However, from start to finish. I was very impressed and comfortable with everyone that I came in contact with during my visit. Great explanation of how the visit would progress from the first person I encountered. Everyone listened to my input as a patient, which sometimes does not happen with many providers. All of the staff showed concern for my well being. I would not hesitate to recommend this practice to others.
My visit was quick and easy.
Was very professional

Dr. Rolen is knowledgeable, and professional. She smiles! She explains. Wait times are very minimal. Her staff members are careful and attentive, as well as friendly and very helpful.
Excellent visit. Very cooperative in meeting my needs and in working with my primary cancer physician.
Very rude and arrogant. Will never recommend her and will not return to see her. Guess she was showing off for her colleagues. Spent a whole 3 minutes with me and did not answer my questions. I was however impressed with the staff. They were great
Dr. Rolen and her staff are very professional and helpful. They keep their patients in mind when treating them.
Dr Rolen and her staff are very professional and helpful
Dr Rolen and entire staff very professional, friendly and knowledgeable . I was very impressed with the entire staff. Would highly recommend
5 stars!! Very caring and knowledgeable!! The best!
Our small town is so fortunate to have a Dr. Rolen. She is kind, thoughtful, straight up with her findings and answers. When Cancer knocks at your door, if Dr. Rolen is there, you can trust she'll do everything in her power to make the decisions you need to go forward.
Every thing went very smoothly with no side effects so far.
Always a good and informative visit.
Dr. Rolen and her team were proficient and caring. Thankfully, my diagnosis turned out to be very minor, but had my diagnosis been something serious, I would have felt very comfortable working with them.
I was originally told I would have about 6 months to 2 years at most. I'm stronger and healthier than ever 4 and a half years layer! Dr. Rolen is awesome, and that comes from a very critical person when it comes to my healthcare and well-being. If you are in her care, you are getting the best!
Great staff and a great doctor! Everyone works well together and communicates with each other and me as the patient. Everyone was on the ball and friendly, competent and warm. One of the best doctor office experiences I've had in ages. Despite being sick I left feeling like I was in wonderful hands and that they were going to do their best to help me feel better.

My recent visit with Dr. Rolen was informative and productive. She went over my recent lab tests and discussed the results with me.Her staff is professional and friendly. I would not hesitate to recommend her to anyone in need of her expertise ans services.
She was great at explaining my case and was interested in my past treatment. She was personable and attentive to my care. I appreciate her sincerity.
very friendly and professional at the same time. everyone in the office is great.
She cared for me with my bladder cancer very well. Now I am going to have chemotherapy soon and am not too worried about it.
Did a great job taking care of my issue.
An excellent, knowledgeable oncologist in Alamogordo, NM.
Dr. Rolen and staff are competent and friendly. I trust her recommended treatment and things seem to be going quite well.
Dr Rolen Will not allow a patient to leave her office without complete understanding of all choices available. Time frame between each visits will not cause any lack of communication on her part towards you. Thank you Dr Rolen for your caring and professional service provided!
Dr Rolen is great she always has time to talk and answer any questions I may have or any concerns.
Doc's "Bed side (chairside?)" manner has improved over the past few months IMO. Rest of staff is outstanding, and has been for long time. My first cancer therapy was for Lymphoma in 2012, still in remission!
Dr. Rolen is very patient and understanding and no matter how busy she is she never makes me feel like I am taking too much of her time. I really like and respect her for her attitude as well as her expertise.
Dr. Rolen listens to the patient, really listens, which I'm finding is a rare attribute in today's stopwatch medical environment. She not only listens, but engages with the patient in an effort to attain the best outcome of service. I feel lucky to have been her patient through my course of Chemo and am still her patient while awaiting the final diagnoses.
Rude, condescending.
When I was diagnosed with my cancer my doctor referred me to MD Anderson in Houston. After 4 weeks we left knowing what we knew when we got there. We were told I needed Chemo and I can get that anywhere so we got a referral to Dr. Rolan. We find Dr. Rolen and the staff are very concerned about my condition, explain everything and answer any questions to our satisfaction. From the time I started my treatment, my wife and I tell each other we should have come here first.
