I've had nothing but great experiences at Oldsmar Rheumatology since I became a patient a few months ago. Dr. Thomas is kind and knowledgeable, and she makes me feel more comfortable and at ease about my condition at every visit. Her staff is wonderful too! I've never had to wait long and the office is run efficiently. Everyone is friendly and helpful, which always makes for a pleasant and refreshing experience. Thank you Dr. Thomas and team!

I was diagnosed with lupus roughly 4 months ago from my endocrinologist. Of course, I needed further testing to get a completely accurate diagnosis because I need to know the right course of treatment. I had set up an appointment, and had already had blood work done and had asked them to have it faxed over. I was told the day prior to my appointment that my lab work was there and ready for my appointment. Immediately upon entering Dr. Thomas office, I was taken to one waiting area and then told to go sit on another waiting area. I could hear the staff behind the counter asking what someone my age was doing at a rheumatologist. I was called back a few minutes later. The nurse takes me into a room and took my vitals with machines that you can purchase on Amazon. Home oxygen reader, home blood pressure cuff. She leaves and I am left waiting approximately 15 minutes. The walls are paper thin, and I can hear the entire consultation of the patient next door to me. I hear Dr. Thomas telling the woman lupus is mostly symptomatic things we notice ourselves and then bring to the doctors attention, along with a positive ANA score. I already know this, which is why my doctor (endo) had gotten me tested. Eventually, Dr Thomas comes in. I am met with “why are you even here, who told you to come?”. I told her I was referred to a rheumatologist because my other doctor believes I have lupus. She asked me my symptoms and I told her everything I have been feeling. From having anemia, to dry eyes, fatigue, and blood in my urine. She then tells me my symptoms don’t sound right and are too vague. Mind you, I have been feeling off for over 4 years and already have a diagnosis. At this point my kidneys are becoming damaged since I’m passing blood. She tells me I need 3 different x rays done, and guess what?.! I need to go and get a lupus test because they didn’t actually ever call to get my lab work. Nothing was faxed over. At this point I am furious. I inform the doctor I haven’t been working a lot and the $40 copay was already bad. She looks at me like I’m lying and or crazy, and leaves the room. I waited in the room for 5 minutes, then left to find the nurse. I asked if I could please leave because I needed to get to work and this visit had been a waste of my time. Dr Thomas overhears this and opens here office door to say “wow, you seem upset.?” I said I was, I have wasted time and money. I was told my additional lab work that was needed was being sent to quest via her electronic request. I said ok and left. I was so upset and once again not heard as someone who is in pain and sick. I called their office the next day to ask if I could come in and pick up the lab order and just give the results to a different doctor. The nurse informed me I was no longer welcome in that facility, and they were discharging me. I was lied to about them having my labs before hand, patronized during the consult, and then ripped off of my money without even receiving lab work or anything. I am sick and it’s hard for me right now. Stress makes my disease worse and this doctor did nothing to help, only make matters worse. I would give her no stars and I am telling everyone I know to never go here. I will be contacting ACHAT as well. For anyone else trying to report a negligent doctor you can contact the Florida Health Department and they will send you a form.

I would give this office absolutely no stars if I could, but unfortunately you have to select at least one star to be able to leave a review. This office's staff is very unprofessional and lazy. I called at the beginning of the year to get a follow-up appointment with Dr. Kavita Thomas and gave them my new insurance. Grant it, it's a new insurance and I understand that not very may doctors are familiar with it. I explained to them how simple the insurance worked and that there was no "in" or "out" of network for the doctors to worry about and all they had to do was submit the claim and it pays out with no strings attached. I was told that they didn't want to get a better understanding of the insurance and that they were unwilling to file any claims with the insurance. Basically I was told the doctor said she didn’t want to deal with it at all no matter how simple it is and that they would prefer to just turn me away as a patient instead. So fast forward to today. I called the office back to make an appointment and give them another insurance information that I now have since they were being lazy and unwilling to file with the other insurance that I previously had. My new information was taken and the insurance verified. Carmen who answers the calls, called me back and made the appointment with me. I told her that I needed to get in asap to see the doctor and she told me she had nothing sooner than next Tuesday.....I was then informed that the doctor only sees patients on Tuesdays and Thursdays..( I was a little baffled by this), so I asked, "well what does the doctor do on the other days of the week", I assume that question didn’t sit well with Carmen and therefore she had some sort of conversation with the Doctor regarding what I said, so the doctor had her to contact me back and cancel my appointment and let me know to find a new Rheumatologist. I absolutely have no problem doing this since I had only seen this doctor once. Dr. Kavita Thomas wasn't even woman or professional enough to contact me herself and explain to me why she no longer wanted me to come there. That would have been the most professional and ethical way to handle it rather than to hide behind incompetent office staff. The doctor wasn’t that good of a doctor anyways. I went in for one thing and she ordered a bunch of unnecessary labs that weren't covered under the diagnosis ( I guess she was just fishing blindly). The atmosphere and level of professionalism in this office was low to begin with. I only chose to see this doctor because my Primary doctor referred me to her. Normally he is on point with the offices that he sends me to, but this one was a royal fail. At the end of this, they actually did me a great favor. I would rather have a more professional Doctor with a descent bedside manner and has office staff whose competency and professionalism is top notch, any day over this subpar medical office, staff, and patient services.

I highly recommend Dr. Thomas. I called and set-up an appointment with Dr. Thomas without a referral. My appointment was scheduled for the same week. The check in process was very efficient and I saw Dr. Thomas within 10 minutes of completion of my paperwork. I had sent blood work and X-Rays in advance from my primary care physician and Dr. Thomas had reviewed those prior to seeing me. After discussion, she made a diagnosis of my condition, ordered additional blood work and X-Rays and prescribed medication for immediate pick-up at my pharmacy. I had been in severe and worsening muscle and joint pain for several months which had become debilitating. My primary care physician wanted to wait six month and do follow-up blood work. I could not stand six month of pain that seemed to be worsening daily. Dr. Thomas took the time to listen to how my symptoms had progressed and how they effected my performance throughout my daily routine. Based on the blood work, X-Rays and interview as to my symptoms, Dr. Thomas believed she had a correct diagnosis and prescribed medication that, if immediately effective, would confirm the diagnosis. i scheduled a follow-up visit after new blood work results and X-Rays where Dr. Thomas confirmed her original diagnosis and patiently described the regimen I would need to follow for a year+ to combat or eliminate my disease. I could not be more pleased with the process. The office staff was very efficient and supportive. Dr. Thomas's professionalism, patience and caring attitude was so appreciated and not often found these days in the overtaxed medical profession.

Dr. Thomas is always pleasant and takes her time to explain medications, results, etc. Her staff are friendly and efficient, I feel very fortunate to have her on my side in this adventure that is RA

I have seen numerous rheumatologists over the years and Dr. Kavita Thomas is one of the best. She seems to genuinely care about me as a patient and really listens to what I say. She makes decisions about my treatment based on me as an individual rather than following a regular treatment plan designed to be used for every patient. I highly recommend her.

Dr. Thomas is very organized, professional, knowledgeable, kind and compassionate. She listens to your concerns and answers your questions. She is very thorough and follows up with you closely. She keeps watchful eye on labs. She monitors for side effects from treatment drugs as indicated.she makes referrals as needed. The staff is very kind , considerate and efficient. Dr. Thomas is very compassionate. She listens and is very thorough. Highly recommend. Update: I had to drop my rating. I'm happy with Dr. Thomas, but I'm not happy with her staff. I have called twice in the last 3 weeks asking for a call back to just let me know if I need to schedule an appointment with the specialist Dr. Thomas told me about in my last appointment with her. I have extensive medical problems (immunocompromised) and see several different specialists. I have open communication with all of my doctors via portal and/or through calls/messages with staff. They communicate GREAT with me and understand that I try to limit myself for in person visits as much as I can. NOT with this office. Dr. Thomas' staff wants me to come in for an appointment for Dr. Thomas to tell me if she wants me to go to this other doctor. Unbelievable. Also, during my last visit, I discussed that I needed an updated referral and I heard Dr. Thomas tell the nurse to request it, but after Dr. Thomas left the room, the nurse told me no that we still had a few weeks. Dr. Thomas is thorough and attentive. She strives to make sure she is providing you with care that will give you the best outcome and is willing to listen and give you honest opinions on alternative treatments. I have been her patient for almost a year now. I would recommend her to new patients.

I would definitely not recommend this Dr., if i could give no stars or minus stars i would! I saw her for the first time and she walked into the room, asked me a few general questions and then proceeded to walk out of the room while I was trying to ask her questions!! She was not even in the room with me for a solid 5 minutes! THEN My husband gets a call saying I have an unpaid bill (they only have his number for emergency Contact) and so I call the office and find out they were sending my invoice to an old business address that we had from 3 years ago that we no longer own! No idea how they got that address since I never gave it? They are completely disorganized in their office and billing.. I spoke to the office a few days ago and she just called me back today asking if I wanted to pay the $2-300 that my ins didn’t pay (for doing nothing!) and I haven’t even gotten the invoice yet… stay away from this doctor and her office, I can’t be the only one that has had this experience with her. So far I have been very pleased with Dr. Thomas and her staff. Everyone is friendly and helpful. I have had pain for a long time now but I felt like Dr. Thomas wasn't going to just push a diagnosis. She did all the blood work and imaging she needed to feel confident in a proper diagnosis but she's also made sure I was comfortable with the treatment so far. After discussing options I felt like it really was my choice. She was willing to go with whatever made me more comfortable. I like that she suggested a natural option (tumeric) before just pushing harsh meds or something. She listened to me and I didn't feel rushed. Hands down worst doctor I’ve ever been to. Didn’t discuss any current medications or past medical history. She pawned off on other doctors. Someone off the street with no medical training could have been more helpful and educational as to what is going on with me.

I have been seeing Dr. Thomas for a couple of months and have found her to be very caring and extremely thorough. She makes sure she pursues all results she gets completely. She does not pre-determine anything. I have been to a other Rheumatologist and Dr. Thomas is the best.

Dr. Thomas and her team were extremely helpful and diligent in providing me with medical care. They ran me through a battery of tests so they could isolate what was going on with my swollen toe. 3 months later my toe is feeling a lot better. Front desk staff was super helpful and kind in getting me in and out.

I care for my ninety year old mother. One thing I noticed the most Dr. Thomas is very thorough and full of compassion. My mother really enjoy visiting with Dr. Thomas. I would highly recommend Oldsmar Rheumatology!!!

I went to see this doctor in June as I was suffering from extreme pain in my knees. After the X-rays and blood work, I went back to Dr.Thomas to find out the cause of my pain and recommended treatment. The doctor addressed my issue as not related to the field of rheumotology/ arthritis but more of an orthopedic problem. I left the office frustrated as I suffered from severe pain for a long time.After seeing an orthopedic doctor, he showed me the report and X-ray that had the signs of severe arthritis written all over them. The possible treatment would be temporary pain shots and further surgery. Thank you Dr. Thomas for your competency. In response to Dr.Thomas's defense, it was not about the delayed tests on my part which still didn't change the diagnosis regardless of a delay.It was about the complete denial of an existing arthritis. You openly stated that I had no illness related to the field of rheumatology instead of giving me options.Yes, it was a fine suggestion to refer me to the orthopedic doctor if it was more than arthritis that could have been treated in a variety of ways. Hi, I would like to share my recent experiences with Dr Thomas. I went to Dr Thomas couple of times due to back and shoulder pain. The staff was very friendly. The wait time was extremely short. Dr Thomas is very knowledgeable, and very expert in finding the root cause of the problem. During my first visit, Dr Thomas has prescribed some blood work and X-Rays etc to find the root cause of my problem. I went to Lab for testing. After one week, when I called to Dr office to know about the result. They did not shared the results, instead office told Dr wants to have an appointment with me to discuss about my result. I thought probably something is serious which Dr wants to discuss with me. Ok, I took an appointment and visited the Dr. The appointment went very fast. Dr Thomas came and spend hardly 2 minutes to tell me that all of my results are negative, and she wants me to see an orthopedic doctor. From diagnosis point of view, this was very good. But, the same thing her staff could have told over phone instead of me to make an appointment and to pay the copay amount. To me, it seems to be unethical. Atleast, the office should have shared the result over phone and I would have saved my copay amount. Just due to this, I am giving only 4 stars. After two years battling plantar fasciitis and a year of lower back pain to mention a couple if issues, I was finally sent to Dr. Thomas who diagnosed me and prescribed me mediation to fix all my issues. Dr. Thomas and her staff have been exceptional with the care and diagnosis with regard to my joint pain. Dr. Thomas has been extremely thorough in having bloodwork and x-rays to help understand my pain. She has been very good with follow up as well. Her office runs very smoothly and timely. Dr. Kavita Thomas is Exceptional. I have concerns about Arthritis due to my Family History and she thoroughly checked me out and sent me for Lab work and X-Rays. When I returned for my Results she was Amazingly clear and concise about what I have which is Osteoarthritis. She recommended things to do and take for this and I felt so comfortable and relieved now that I had a Diagnoses. She is so sweet and caring and takes her time with you and will answer all your questions. Her bedside manner is Phenomenal. I am super Happy I came to see her. Her staff are also Phenomenal. I recently found myself in a proverbial pickle, and needed to get an appt quick. Found Dr. Thomas and team, and they were able to get me an appt (as a new patient) within a week. No waiting around hours on end once I checked in either. Office is clean, and everyone is very professional and friendly. I have severe osteoarthritis , osteoporosis and had two total knee replacements done in my 40’s. Dr Thomas did a very thorough work up , was very compassionate about my quality of life, my chronic debilitating pain. I highly recommend her to anyone struggling with arthritis.
