This was my first visit to see Dr. MacKenzie. It was a very positive experience. The front office was friendly and they had a very nice new girl checking people in. I did not wait long to see Dr. MacKenzie. He was very professional, friendly, personable, and thorough. He was not rushed. He did an overall skin check and encouraged me to ask any questions I had and he did not leave until they were all answered. I would definitely recommend Dr. MacKenzie for a dermatologist. Unprofessional is an understatement...I waited 6 months for an appointment... waited in their waiting room for over an hour...The only thing I didn't wait for was their Bill for over 500 dollars. No one apologized for the wait nor the inconvenience of my time. On top of that my technician (not Dr. Mackenzie) spent less then 5 minutes reminding me to stay out of the Sun ( handed me a flyer) and burned half of the suspicious spots I had on my scalp. ( See you in 6 months). When I mentioned to one of my fellow Phys. Ed Teachers if they knew any good Dermatologists, they said they did, and they also had the same experiences at Mackenzie dermatology...coincidence? I have gone to other dermatologists in the area and none have shown their level of knowledge or professionalism. They address my concerns and answer my questions as well as provide treatment.

I went in for my yearly check up with Kim. She scanned me in 5 seconds and said nothing. I pointed to a little bump on my lower leg which I had there for 6yrs. with no change. She said oh yes lets take a scraping to make sure it was non cancerous. The lab report came back benign. The healing process was painful and redness appeared around the area. After 2 wks. of suffering I went back to show her, which she suggested taking a deeper scraping. When I mentioned I had another appointment and couldn't wait, she abruptly said well the next opening would be 6 mos. from then. She gave me a prescription to put on it. Four days later the ointment was burning so bad, I went back to the office and asked to see Dr. Mckenzie. The receptionist rudely said it would be a month if I wanted to see him. One of his staff came out and said the ointment had only been applied for only 4 days and to give it time. I have never been treated so inhumanely in a professional office. I was required to wait nearly 45 minutes before seeing the NP-C Kim Carlson Stover (who is not actually a doctor). A nurse had listed the conditions that I wanted to ask about but the assistant doctor did not deal with each of them. I was rushed during my visit but still was required to pay $315 and was with the assistant doctor for less than 12 minutes. Kim Stover was friendly but was rushed, which is not something that I should be forced to deal with. I tried to send an email to the office but there is no email address listed in the contact section of the MacKenzie website. I feel that $315 was an excessive charge for the relatively poor service that I was given. I really like having Dr. MacKenzie as my physician, he is wise, kind and takes time to explain things, however his staff make me feel rushed and uncomfortable. For instance, I’m considered an ‘As needed’ appointment patient. I recently scheduled an appt for a specific skin concern (on the tail end of COVID-19 closures), stupidly assumed I could mention some other small areas of concern but was told NOPE by staff, I had only scheduled for the skin concern, nothing else. Guess I’ll address my concerns with my naturopathic doctor. My experience at MacKenzie dermatology, with the NP-C named Kim Carlson Stover, was less than good. I was required to wait 45 minutes after the time of my scheduled appointment. A nurse had written down the matters that I wanted to discuss and Kim failed to address each of them. I felt very rushed - being with Kim for less than 12 minutes - and was still required to pay $315, which I feel was excessive considering the relatively poor service that I received. I then tried to send an email to the office but their website does not have one listed on the contact page.

The comment above that he just cares about the money is spot on.

I have been going to Dr. Mackenzie for a number of years. Always had top flight attention and service...and...the waiting area in the office should be the envy or all doctor's offices....

I've been seeing Dr. Mac for 20 years. He is an excellent, personable, well qualified Dermatologist. I trust him. He spends time with you, answers any pertinent questions, and is 5 star, in my book. Have been a patient of Dr. Mackenzie's for a number of years. I have had to wait a bit past my appointment time on occasionally but I believe it's due to patients who are needing all their concerns dealt with and the doctors are giving them their attention time to do so. I know Dr. Mackenzie has always given me his full attention for my concerns. Several cancerous issues from basal to squamous have been dealt with more than satisfactory. Office staff has always been professional and courteous. Have recently experienced Dr. Carlson's interaction with my 80 year old mother as well...very happy with her as well...my mom is one of those patients who comes with a list and her visits likely infringe upon the next patient's time. Have been a patient for almost 3 years and critical of one specific doctor. That doctor is gone and I have never been disappointed in the care and attention I receive since then. Well known office staff is rude. And Dr. McKenzie missed a skin cancer?! Dude. Don’t think I’ll go there.

Office staff was rude on the phone, poor communication skills, seems like they do what they can to create a road block. I find that customer service like this is usually the culture of the business owner, in this case it's a Dr. who provides medical care. I was told 3 months out to get an appointment, so I called another local dermatologist and got in next day. The Old Saying, "The Difference a Day Makes" Thank God we still have choices. THIS IS THE STRAW THAT BROKE THE CAMELS BACK- Walked into his office, two gals looked right at me and didn’t even acknowledge me. No smile, no hello, someone will be right with you. Finally the gal that was watering the plant out front came in and asked if she could help me. She was nice but when I asked where one of their Dr. was working now...no information??? Really. If you like waiting.......................for your appointments- last 3 visits I waited an hour ;^( and then when you get in the examine room, wait another 10-15 mins more ;^ (. Then you get a quick once over in less then 5 mins. But wait.... they are super fast at collecting that $114for a visit!!! Worst part my mole that I was told was fine wasn’t... new Doctor did a biopsy and it was Cancerous!!! I have been a patient for over 10 years. Dr. Mackenzie and Kim Carlson-NP are amazing! I have received excellent care from every staff member. From helping me reduce skin imperfections, to recent detection of skin cancer and surgery. Taking all the time needed during my visits to answer my questions and put me at ease.

What a tremendous experience! Went in for my first skin exam, left a forever patient! From the moment I called to schedule my appointment, to the second I left the door, I have never been treated so wonderfully by any medical office/staff in my life... We all have to make unwanted visits to see medical professionals, it's not fun to begin with, then you get to your appointment and you have long waits and sub par staff. Not here, the staff at MacKenzie Dermatology were beyond unbelievable in their customer service, in caring for my entire family. I will be suggesting this practice to everyone I know. Waited nearly 30 minutes and was the second appt of the day. The the Dr. spent under 5 minutes spraying my Aks. Problem is that he did not spray long enough and most remained, and it has been 2 months now. Looking for another dermatologist who can take care of the problem spots the first time.

Did not want to see me with a referal. They wanted to go home at 2 pm and did not show any concern for my condition just that yhey we're closing at 2 pm. Will never recomment this place to my emimies let along someone i may know.

I have been going to Dr.Mankenzie since I was 4 years old making 15 years there and he has always been amazing! He is such a great guy and I have never had a bad experience there.

I would think twice about going to Mackenzie Dermatology for your skin needs!! They charge over $4000.00 for two small lesions taken off and then you will get a bill from some other place called Aurora Diagnostics for God knows what, NEVER been there before !! The first one I had taken off and then stitched up by Kim was good. The second one sucked because it was stitched up by Dr. MacKenzie, Keith I think, and I still have a bump on the side of my face that I have to be careful with when I shave! They double bill also I see. Please go to Cottonwood and you will save $$$. NEVER AGAIN WILL I GO THERE OR RECOMMEND THEM !!! Dr. MacKenzie is not recommend as he does not care about his patients, but is more interested in making money to support his beautiful surroundings. Find another dermatologist, not him !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He came into exam room; was curt and seemed more interested in what he had to say than in why I was there. Without speaking, he grabbed my right hand and sprayed two places on it. When I was getting dressed (he said he did a cancer scan but did not and did not charge for one), he made some comment, which I do not remember, to which I responded with: I guess I'm easy, referring to my problem.
