About Kelty Ruth Baker
Reviews for Kelty Ruth Baker
I went for my initial appointment and was told that due to not having my covid shot I would need to wear a mask and gloves. I was also told by the front desk staff that my husband could not come back. We drove an hour to see this doctor. After I told them I would really like for him to be in the consult, they got the doctor. Then they proceeded to "clear" the waiting room because the doctor wanted to talk with us. The doctor came to the door of the waiting room and proceeded to berate us, in a loud aggressive voice (I have never met this woman). Telling us this was her policy and due to our choice of infecting others because we wouldn't get the shot we are inciting this confusion. I looked at my husband and said I would like to find another doctor and do not want to continue here, I grabbed my purse and began to stand. But this doctor continued yelling at us, telling us we don't understand this disease, we don't see what she witnesses everyday, that we are insensitive, irrespon

Dr. Baker is an incredible doctor who has literally saved my life. I highly recommend her to anyone needing very kind and professional care.
Great doctor. Very professional and personable.
Dr Baker is fantastic. Clearly a leader in her field which she applies skillfully to the benefit of her patients. She is interested, caring, and has a great sense of humor.
Rudest doctor I have ever seen. She began to get talk down to me decays I am not vaccinated the proceeds to tell me I am a bad mother and not a Christian because I won’t get vaccinated. I care about everyone’s views and don’t look down on those that do get vaccinated. I believe it is our personal choice and non of my business. So please tell me what gives her the right to say that a patient is a bad mother and not a Christian. This was the first time I had seen her in 7 years. Her PA was great busy she was horrid. From the lady at the front desk to the physicians assistant, Maggie, each time I come here there’s always an issue. I can’t stand coming to this office because her staff is so incredibly rude. I called her office today to see if I could get in to see Dr. Baker because I was having some issues and I needed to be seen, The lady at the front desk directed me to the physicians assistant Maggie instead of directing me to Dr. Baker - which initially I was fine with. However, Maggie’s tone on the phone was completely unacceptable and when I politely asked her to change her attitude it only got worse. I called Dr. Baker’s office back and asked to speak directly to Dr. Baker and I never received a call back. Dr. Baker is wonderful, but unfortunately, I will be leaving this practice because I can’t stand the way her staff treats her patients. I have been seeing Dr. BAKER and her NP Maggie now for 4 years. I have been pleased with the care I receive there. The staff takes some getting used to but they are likable as well. Overall I'm VERY satisfied there.
Great team (Michelle, Denise, Cassandra and Maggie) and I always feel like I always have up to date information and great care with Dr. Baker.
Dr. Baker’s office is organized and prompt. The ladies who check vitals and draw blood are kind and warm. Dr. Baker does not smile so much, but does act aggressively (in a good way) in caring for her patients. She pays attention and connects the dots when others might overlook some of the patient’s history. She is direct, and I appreciate and respect this about her, recognizing that she is driven to help her patients. Dr. Baker’s office is organized and prompt. Dr. Baker has been treating me for about 15 years and has an excellent job of managing my disease. The staff is pleasant and knowledgeable.
She didn’t care about my situation. Spent minimal time when I ask her whether she look at my blood test results ( which was requested when I called her office while making appointment. ) she said no when I asked her “ Since I am here why don’t we look at it now” she said it takes time and it is in another computer. Then I asked again she did it with an attitude on the same computer where she accessed EPIC. She clicked a few links ASAP and absolutely didn’t care. She came late and was very rude to the point I felt like she is ready to yell at me. It also took so long to get an appointment my cardiologist refer me to her. When I told her who referred me she said he is sweet. I am going to tell my cardiologist not to do the same mistake. This women hates her job and staff members looked very stiff and tense as well. I will never go back and wasted my time and money. She didn’t care about my situation. My daughter was in Dr Bakers care for many, many years and we always felt like family. She is the most caring, knowledgeable doctor that battled for years to heal her. Dr Baker and her whole staff always treated us with respect and did everything in their power to help us in all our medical needs. I wouldn’t hesitate to see her again and I carry her business cards to refer her to anyone that needs help. She is an amazing doctor that people from around the world come for help. Thank you Dr. Baker for all you’ve done for our family. Our daughter just celebrated 5 years of remission. My daughter was in Dr Bakers care for many, many years and we always felt like family. I was referred to her by my cardiologist. After I checked in and paid the copay, when called they shook me down for another $250 payment after I got through the door from the waiting room. When Dr. Baker spoke to me she was very uppity and when I saw what she was trying to charge my insurance I realized why. She was trying to charge me $1000/hour for her consultation and luckily my insurance said no. Is that even legal under AMA regulations? I was referred to her by my cardiologist. Dr. Baker is the best doctor I have ever experienced. She is professional, caring, and kind. She found out what was going on with me quickly when other physicians didn't even seem to care. She takes the time to explain medical conditions in laymans terms so I could understand it. The only negative thing I can say is about paying $40 co-pay for labs done in her office. Not a fan of that, but everything else is GREAT!!!!
Basically, she saved my husbands life. He was diagnosed with a very rare cancer and she and her team at Methodist moved very quickly and that was January of 2008. And he is up and about and riding his dirt bike and he is now 71 years old. The staff if very busy and very helpful. No one can imagine how many patients they have and they keep everything running smoothly and very quickly. We owe them all his life and our sense of normalcy! Thank you very much! Words can't express our gratitude!
I am a health care professional and i have been a patient of Dr Baker since 2001. She is extremely up to date on the best plan of treatments for lymphoma. She is one of the most sincerity compassionate doctors I have encountered. She explains all questions in layman terms. It has been a joy to have her as my physician. Dr. Bake is a household name with my family. She knows all the immediate family members who have been to visits and asks about them frequently. WE LOVE AND ADMIRE DR. Belittling attitude toward patients. She probably the most unfriendly doctor I have ever encountered. Acts as if she is above you. I wouldn't recommend her to my worst enemy. Her office staff is just as unfriendly and the front office is very difficult to deal with.
As of today, our family is in the 9th week of my father's Acute Myeloid Leukemia diagnosis and hospitalization with serious complications of his heart and kidneys as a result of the Leukemia blast. Our family has taken turns driving 4-6 hours to Houston and spending weeks at a time with our Mom and Dad to help them through this. As a result, we've learned a lot in a short time and are the continuity of information with hundreds of medical staff attending my Dad at Houston Methodist Hospital throughout the last nine weeks. We have been so impressed by the care of everyone from the ones bringing Dad his food to the specialty doctors that attend to his overall care. We have many questions which have gotten more intelligent over time and although there's been bouts of frustration mixed with emotion throughout his care, everyone has handled us with respect and patience. We understand the balance of information among the professionals, but in our experience and to my Dad's detriment which led to another trip to ICU, information gets missed sometimes so we do our best to stay on top of the latest information given us by Dad's team. The weekends are a different scene with on call doctors caring for patients that aren't theirs. Although a patient's chart keeps everyone informed, we respectfully give the latest information when a different doctor comes in and starts talking about changing things. Dr. Baker was on this weekend and we've never seen her before so when she started talking about changing something that was a serious discussion between all three specialty groups earlier in the week, I said something about it and I could tell that she didn't like me telling her, but I affirmed what she wanted to change was what everyone else is concerned about, but in the interest of other issues, all agreed to wait. Today (Sunday), my Dad developed a swollen and hot lump and when Dr. Baker examined it, she diagnosed it as one thing and I asked if it could be something else. Her response was incredibly defensive, sarcastic and condescending towards me and I tried to address her attitude towards me saying I was only asking a question. She turned her back on me and continued her exam. My mother mentioned something that was helpful information and she stopped her track of treatment she was proposing and turned towards the course of action the Internal Med doc who was with her suggested before, but she dismissed as "wasting time". I've read her reviews and I'm sure she's an excellent physician, but I don't care who you are, there's NO reason to treat anyone with such disrespect. I'm offended beyond words. She owes me an apology for demeaning me in front of my parents and her colleague. My number one priority is to learn myself and to help my Mom and Dad understand what's going on; not to disrespect or question a physician's intelligence. Dr. Baker is the only physician in 9 weeks to treat anyone of us so disrespectfully. Dr. Baker was recommended to me by my long term primary and pulmonary physician. Dr. Baker successfully treated my anemia and provides close monitoring of my condition. Her office functions like a clock. My blood work is done in-house and in ten minutes the results are presented to me in a consultation. Dr. Baker is easy to talk with, she listens to your concerns and takes time to educate you about your condition.

Dr. Kelty Baker has been such a blessing to my family. She is extremely intelligent and down to earth. If it had not been for Dr. Baker, my 68 year old aunt who has sickle cell ,would not be here today. My aunts previous hematologist was giving my aunt tons of blood transfusions without removing the iron from her blood. Thanks to Dr. Baker, she informed us of iron overload and fixed the problem. Not only is she loved by her patients but she is highly respected among her colleagues and students

My Dad has been in the hospital for 9 weeks ago with life threatening issues. Dr. Baker saw him for the first time as on call doc. Dad developed a swollen/hot lump and as she examined it, she diagnosed it as one thing and I asked if it could be something else. Her response was incredibly defensive, sarcastic and condescending towards me. I tried to address her attitude but she turned her back on me. I don't care if she's a doctor or not, she disrespected me and that's unprofessional.
