Received a notice from my son's school nurse to make an appointment for my son. This was my son's first time seeing an eye doctor. We had to wait a bit, but when dealing with kids, that's to be expected. The doc had quite a few patients, but was very thorough with my son and he answered all my questions. Please do not take your kids to this place, the worst customer service ever. These ppl need to learn how to smile and show good attitude so kids would feel more comfortable. Dr Kaufman please stop giving toys to kids and then take them away from them, my poor daughter thought he was giving her this little animals, she was happy and then he took them away, you should of seen her face... We were told to wait outside for 30 min, instead we waited 50 minutes. Just not happy about this visit... Please do not take your kids to this place, the worst customer service ever. Dr. Kaufman was patronizing and rude. When I asked a question he was very dismissive and patronizing. I can't believe that he works with children as he has no bedside manner. I asked him if I could do exercises to improve my condition and he said, "You can't do push-ups with your eyes,". I'm not an idiot and I didn't deserve to be spoken to in that way. I don't trust him and I will be seeking a second opinion.

Went to this Dr. For my 4 year old daughter. He was rude and very dismissive of my concerns about her eyes. After waiting for a long period he rushed through my appointment and provided no information on what he was doing or to make my child feel comfortable during the exam. I then expressed my concern about how strong her prescription was and can someone become "dependent " on their glasses considering she was so young....maybe this was a dumb question but I'm not an optimoligist I'm actually a speech therapist. He told me word for word, "become dependent....glasses are not heroin!" Yes he said glasses are not heroin! I felt ignorant and disrespected!! EXTREMELY unprofessional and pompous! I waited 45 minutes for him to finish an extremely inappropriate personal conversation with a woman about his wife and her family. He did in front of me even, and he had other patients waiting. He made me late to my next doctor’s appointment, so I had to reschedule that. When I asked him, “Why would you have such a personal conversation for so long when you have patients waiting?” He said, “I don’t know what you’re looking for, but I will not negotiate with you. I can’t help you if you can’t get past your personal problems.” He is very unprofessional and his whole manner was tacky. In the end he offered nothing of medical value to me at all. Waited 20 minutes to be called back. His bedside manner was lacking consideration for time management and his approach with my 11 year old was not met with compassion with the concerns my son had when he would put different tools right in front of his eyes. Kids just have questions that need to be answered so they can be at ease. That's how you build trust. He gave little warning to spritzing him (even though he said they were eye drops) for dilation. After that, we went back to the waiting room for '30 minutes.' which turned into 45 minutes. Again, no regard for time management. My son's eyes were sensitive after being dilated, but when my son would tell him how much the light hurt, he just told my son that he's fine and it's just a flash light. Dismissive. Very dismissive. I left (with his prescription) and got home and realized they didn't write the PD. That's normal. No place does.You have to ask for it. Places either fight to give it to me or nave no issue giving it to me. It's a mixed bag. Well, I called Kaufman's office and they refused to give it to me. I asked to speak to Kaufman about it. He also refused to give it to me. He told me that it's just not something that they write down. Even though I know they did it. I mentioned that to him and he confirmed that yes, they do it, but (again) that they don't write it down. And he was laughing about this (apparent) absurd request I was making. He mentioned that if I asked him how tall my son is, then he wouldn't know. I don't see the correlation between that and his PD at all. I told him I know my rights and that I will report him. Dr. Knaufman has been my sons doctor since he was five years old when we were living in North Carolina. He’s now. 22 and headed to Law School at UNiversity of Wisconsin-Madison.

Dr Kaufman was excellent! My daughter was struggling with double vision, she went ahead with eye muscle surgery and it was a success! Dr Kaufman was very nice, patient and answered all our questions. Julie, the office manager was excellent I’m dealing with all our insurance matters. Great practice! I highly recommend them!

I am very happy that I brought my son Liam here for a second opinion! Dr. Kaufman is great and Im happy I was recommended here by my family.

I am over-satisfied with the services both Dr. Kaufman and his staff (especially July) provided us. They both were very kind and informative. I have not met with any other medical professional as July, who has put tremendous time and effort to support us getting the right referral for my daughter's surgery. Long waiting

Not recommended to come here if you are doing this for your child. The staff and doctor was very rude, keeping me at thought if this is safe at all. I drove an hour drive from my home due to not living in the City anymore, putting full ended trust towards these people After getting ready, unexpected traffic struck with a lot of traffic towards the highway due to accidents. This was for my one year old son, who needed a check-up for his eyes. We explained to the staff that the traffic held us back, holding us at our wits, they declined us with a heartless feeling. The staff made it seem rather more of a business out of Children instead of actually trying to help them with real feeling towards them. Please do *not* go here. Intelligent and knows his craft well.

Waiting time is long, not welcoming stuff but Dr. Kaufman knows everything about eyes. If you ever have any concerns just go to this place. We came from Rockford as in here we dont have quality eye doctor as Dr. Kaufman.

Dr Kaufman is not the welcoming doctor you’d expect but his work is Phenomenal!!! It’s brcause of him & his treatments that my son can see. I’ve been with him since my Son was a year and a half and now he is 10 years old. My sons Eye prescription has even came down over the years. Don’t judge by negative reviews. Have patience when you come here!! Dr. Kaufman is wonderful! He caught my 1yr old daughters tumor in her right eye right away. Within 10 days of seeing him she had surgery and had the tumor taken out, that was 4 years ago. If he didn’t catch it when he did, God knows what would of happened! He is a very good dr. Not much of a sense of humor but he is wonderful and patient with kids and parents. I do have to agree the staff is unfriendly but I’m sure they deal with a lot. Don’t judge by negative reviews. I am writing on behave on my experience on this called DR. Kaufman, I took my baby to check on her vision for her eyes. he give me a diagnostic by telling me my kid need glasses right away if not. she may loose her vision. I took my baby for second opinion and my surprise my kid is not bad as this so called DR. sad. my wife went to confront him about his diagnostic and his answer was it is the same diagnostic. BUT, how can the diagnostic be the same when he recommended 3.5 on her glasses and the second opinion give us only 0.5 graduation on her glasses. YOU SHOULD GET ANY SECOND OPINION IF YOU HAD GONE WITH THIS FAKE DR.

I have been a doctor for 26 years and in my opinion Dr Kaufman's bedside manner ranks among the worse I have seen. I took my son to see Dr Kaufman today. He walked in the room and did not even bother to introduce himself to my wife and I . No hello upon entering the room just.referred to my son by his first name and told him to sit in the exam chair... he told. my son he needed to " wash his eyes" and then abruptly sprayed medication in his eyes to. dilate his eyes ...I tried to explain. to him my son's chief complaint but he cut me off. mid sentence. after I indicated my son was in the office for excessive blinking .. stating: "you need not say more." I found office dirty and office staff cold and distant. I will never go back to this office again . I will be following up a Laurie Children Hospital Chicago ( where I wanted to go originally but appointment not until September 2017 .. wanted to get things checked quicker to be sure there was not a serious problem) I have been a doctor for 26 years and in my opinion Dr Kaufman's bedside manner ranks among the worse I have seen. The doctors are wonderful and great with kids. The waiting area is welcoming to children and families. Unfortunately the staff is very indifferent and rude. They act as if they are doing us the patient a favor. Wish they would more welcoming to their world. ????

My experience with this Doctor following surgery has been so difficult for me. I wear dark glasses because I cannot look straight at people. I commute to work daily, and work with patients all day. He has never followed up with me. I suspect he knows he screwed up, botched surgery. When I called him about my difficulties following surgery, he commented, the dye has been cast. What kind of human would make such a statement. This guy scares me. Hope I can find a surgeon to correct this condition
