I’m a 55 year old male , struggling for over 10 years with debilitating knee pain . I’ve had over 150 injections in my knees and seemed like no one understood the pain I was in . To make it worse , I’m a cabinet maker by trade . My first visit to Dr. Addickes , he took X-rays and looked at my knees and said when do you want to replace them ? It brought tears to my eyes . I said I’m ready . He asked which one do you want to do first ? I said both …. He told me no way . I said if you don’t do them at the same time my business will go under . After trying to talk me out of it , he agreed but warned me that recovery would not be easy . The recovery and post op pain was almost more than I could take . . It’s now 4 months since the surgery and I had my last post op visit with Dr . Addickes . He is an amazing Dr and probably the first knee Dr I’ve seen over the 10 years of pain that I felt actually knew what I was going through and listened to me . He gave me my life back . . Dr. Adickes is an easy going Orthopedic Surgeon. For me, the decision to work with him is largely due to the fact that he was a former top level athlete who has had his share of injuries. So his relatability to me and my injury was calming. His practice moves quickly and I never felt I was waiting long! He listens and offers strong recommendations based on your concerns. Dr Adickes is the best surgeon I have ever had. He takes the time to explain the procedure he intends to perform and answers all questions. He has a great attitude and is a wonderfully skilled surgeon. He did a rotator cuff repair on my right shoulder and later a full left knee replacement. He is tops in his field - he knows his stuff! I would use Adickes again in a second (hopefully I do not need to).

Dr Adickes is the best. He is always willing to answer questions and explain the procedure he intends to perform - he knows his stuff! He has a great attitude and is a tremendously skilled surgeon. I was so pleased with the outcome after Dr. Adickes repaired my rotator cuff that I had him do a complete knee replacement. I would highly recommend him to others.

I cannot express enough how wonderful working with Dr Adickes has been. I am 7 months out and 6 weeks out with total knee replacements done by him and I couldn't be happier. He and his staff take time to listen to you and work together to come up with a treatment plan. He is personable, extremely knowledgeable, and you can tell he loves what he does. To top it off, he speaks from experience, having undergone a full knee replacement himself. I am more than happy to recommend Dr Adickes should you need orthopedic care, specifically for the knees. My daughter had her knee dislocate for the first time when she was 12 years old. She had surgery to tighten the ligaments but her knee continued to slide out of place often causing her to fall. She lived with an unstable knee for 8 years and had her knee partially slide out of place dozens of times. Dr Adickes recommended surgery to realign her knee which was slightly off center. Dr Adickes performed the realignment surgery and her knee has been great ever since. She had a goal of running a half marathon but prior to surgery that was not possible. A year after surgery she ran her first half marathon. Two years post surgery she completed her first full marathon. She has continued to run half and full marathons, all without her knee sliding out of place or causing her any pain. Dr Adickes improved the quality of her life substantially. Her only regret is not having the surgery sooner. I highly recommend Dr Adickes. My daughter had her knee dislocate for the first time when she was 12 years old. Two weeks ago, I developed rapid inflammation, causing unbearable pain within my right hip. The pain set in so fast that within 24 hours, my leg locked up, and I was unable to walk without the use of crutches. The pain was so severe that I ended up going into the ER for a few days while the doctor(s) tried to diagnose the cause of my hip pain. After a few mixed conclusions between the ER doctors, they suggested it was in my best interest to discharge me from the hospital with nothing more than a diagnosis of mild arthritis and a prediction of a hip replacement by at the age of 45. While I was in this hospital, my wife contacted a family friend who is an orthopedic surgeon in Texas and asked for his opinion on my condition. After reviewing my symptoms, he advised that we need to see Dr. Adickes, the only surgeon in the area who he would recommend and trust to perform a hip scope procedure on me. I called Dr. Adickes’s office immediately and notified the receptionist of my condition and current pain levels. The receptionist was able to get me in to see Dr. Adickes the next day when he concluded that surgery was the best option to fix the problem and pain within my hip. Dr. Adickes scheduled my surgery for the next business day. Immediately after waking up from surgery, I felt tremendous relief in my hip. I had surgery on a Monday, and by Wednesday, I was walking again, without crutches, and with very little pain. I am incredibly grateful that I could see Dr. Adickes and that he could fix my hip problem and pain so quickly. I cannot recommend Dr. Adickes enough for hip procedures. Incredible ! I had significant pain in my right hip and could not put pressure on my right leg or lay on my side to sleep. Dr. Adickes identified a large cyst that had developed in my right hip. I first saw him on Tuesday. On Thursday , he performed arthroscopic surgery removing the cyst as well as lengthening the IT band including some "other clean up". That same afternoon I was walking without crutches and four days later I was back on the bike . Dr. Adickes is an amazing surgeon and I highly recommend him. Incredible ! I had my right knee replaced in 2013 by another Doctor. I still had knee pain although not near as bad as before surgery. The main issue I had was lack of mobility. My knee would only bend to 90 degrees. This made everyday activities difficult. A friend of mine had his knee replaced by Dr. Adickes with great results and recommended that I see him. I saw Dr. Adickes about 3 weeks ago and he suggested the surgical removal of scar tissue from my replaced knee. This was never offered by the original Doctor that did the replacement. I had the surgery 1 week ago. The results were fantastic. The surgery was virtually painless. Within 2 days at physical therapy I had achieved 119 degrees of bend and the pain that I had since the original replacement was completely gone. For 7 years I put up with poor results from a surgery not realizing how easy it could be corrected. If you are not happy with results of a knee replacement don't give up. At least get Dr. Adickes to check it out it could be life changing. I had my right knee replaced in 2013 by another Doctor. I still had knee pain although not near as bad as before surgery. Dr. Adickes repaired my rotator cuff tear caused by my clumsy use of crutches after a food surgery. I am in my mid-sixties and contracted COVID after my shoulder surgery which necessitated an additional procedure to break lose the scare tissue that had formed after my bout with COVID. Dr. Adickes was a God send. I had a number of other issues during this period but he and his staff were always easily accessed and ready to help. Dr. Mark is nothing short of exceptional!! He has also successfully treated my wife for bone spurs on her shoulder. I have recommended and continue to recommend him (and his staff - Go Jared) to family, and friends. My husband is seeing Dr. Adickes for knee pain and loss of cartilage. He had his first cortisone injections about 8 months ago, and now he's having the gel injections. I had really good experiences with him 2 years prior, but now, he seems very rushed and doesn't have/takes time to explain anything...... a total 180° from before. He comes in the room, rushed, smiling, joking, barely deadens the injection site, injects, goes to the other knee, barely deadens the injection site, despite both my husband and I politely asking him to make sure that it's nice and knumb so that he doesn't feel any pain, injects and says two words and is out the door. His 'scribe' (as he calls him), was more informative and explanatory when we had questions while Dr. Adickes was walking out the door. Seriously, I don't know what happened to Dr. Adickes because he used to sit on the stool, talk to me, explain everything, ask me if I had any questions, etc. I almost feel as though he's not the same man, he's calloused and too rushed! He actually took the time to knumb the injection site better today because my husband insisted on it, while i reiterated it as well. But this time, his scribe didn't say a word. I'm somewhat dissapointed because I highly recommend him to my husband, because of my past experience with him and with my daughter. I am in the medical field myself, so I'm quite particular which doctors we go to. He seemed to have more patience and better bedside manners when he was working at Hermann than while he's been at Baylor. I hope that he slows down and gives his patients the time they need and deserve when he moves to his new office. The last 2 times we have been to see him, we have registered, sat and waited less than 3-5 minutes, went in the patient room, had both injections done, walked out walking slowly due to discomfort, and left within 30 minutes, so we didn't have to pay for parking which was nice, but really, we go in to a high rise bldg, take elevator with people inside, finally stops on 10th floor, checks in, pays co-pay, sits in waiting area, gets called in to exam room, doctor comes in, talks to patient while putting gloves on and getting syringe in hand, has his assistant freeze knumb the area for less than 4 seconds, injects, says 2 or 3 words and walks out while his assistant puts tape on injection site, and we leave there with my husband walking slow like and patiently, take elevators down to 1st floor, wait in line to enter ticket into parking machine pay to validate it, and all that in less than 30 minutes. Wow! ???? My husband is seeing Dr. Adickes for knee pain and loss of cartilage. He had his first cortisone injections about 8 months ago, and now he's having the gel injections. In May 2018, I had right shoulder surgery that was preformed by Dr. Steven E. Flores with UT Physicians. He did a horrible job. Dr. Flores left me with an arm I could not even lift. My arm was useless. I decided to go to Dr. Mark Adickes. I am so glad I found him! After reviewing my MRIs, Dr. Adickes explained the next steps, answered all of my questions, he was very sympathetic to what I was going through, and he made me feel like I was the most important person in the room. In March 2019, Dr. Adickes fixed my botched right shoulder surgery and I'm almost 100% back to normal...just a few more weeks of physical therapy! I highly recommend Dr. Mark Adickes. If I could give Dr Adickes more than 5 stars I would. I’m younger than most (48) and have needed a knee replacement for some time. I did not have to battle with him on the age issue. He understands wanting to enjoy your life and the only debate was whether to do one or two at a time. I received a bilateral knee replacement and my results have been phenomenal. I’m only 7 days PO but weeks ahead of most people’s progress. He’s attentive, he’s intuitive, he and his staff genuinely go out of their way to take care of you, before surgery and afterwards. I have seen Dr. Adickes multiple times. Some of them were easy things to discover such as a fractured tibial plateau that I had. Being that he is a former football player and avid weight lifter he understands sports injuries very well. All that is to be expected by any orthopedic doctor. However here is where he exceeds the rest. I was having a horrible shocking pain in my right forearm however only when I raised my arm above my shoulder. Nobody else could figure it out. He did all the normal tests and tried an injection in my shoulder and said I was flopping like a fish even afterwards on the table when he manipulated my arm which doesn't happen to anyone. He went back and researched what else it could be. He came back and told me he thought it was a Posterior Interosseous Nerve Entrapment. The MRI didn't even show it yet he had concluded it was the likeliest option. Mind you he doesn't do that part of the body yet he took the time to solve my problem on his own time. He then referred me to another great doctor that does forearms. Dr. Koepplinger. Dr. K, said that it wasn't showing on the MRI and we tried therapy and other things. After nothing else worked he and I agreed to basically go in and look at my forearm where as Dr. Adickes had suspected was entrapped. After the surgery I was back to normal after I had lost the ability to hold a fork with stability and eat with my right hand. Dr. Adickes saved my nerve from permanent damage in an area that wasn't even his specialty. He said he had remembered something all the way from medical school which made him think of where to look. I am used to Dr.'s giving up and sending you to the next one and next one and next one. He first took the time to really research what he thought it was before sending me on to the next person. I am doing remarkably well from torn labral repair by Dr.Adickes. He is worth the wait in the waiting room and exam room. He takes a lot of time with patients instead of a $50 handshake. He is very friendly and comfortable to talk to as well as his staff. My only regret is that he didn't do my torn rotator cuff repair two years ago which I am still having problems with. I highly recommend him. I am doing remarkably well from torn labral repair by Dr.Adickes. He is worth the wait in the waiting room and exam room. My one star rating is not based on my experience with Dr. Adickes himself, because I never actually had the opportunity to meet him. I scheduled an appointment with Dr. Adickes for a shoulder injury on a recommendation. It took about two weeks to get in which was to be expected, and would be worth the wait for his expertise. A week before my initial appointment, I received a phone call from his office informing me that he had a cancellation for Wed. (my appointment was on Fri.) if I would like to come in a few days earlier. I had to work on Wednesday and didn’t think the new time would work, so asked to keep my initial appointment. The person on the phone assured me that the appointment would only take 35-40 mins. and I would have plenty of time to make it to work. At my appointment on Wed., I waited for an hour to be taken back at which point I had 15 mins. to get x-rays and meet with the doctor which was obviously impossible. They took the x-rays and rescheduled me for the following Thursday to meet with the doctor. Five days later on Monday at 5:30pm, I received a call from the office to inform me that Dr. Adickes does not see patients on Thursdays, he is only in surgery and they would need to reschedule my appointment. I am off on Mondays and could have gone in any time the day they called (had they called me before 5:30pm), but I was booked for the rest of the week with work, so I would have to wait an additional week to reschedule. The woman rescheduling the appointment offered a number of excuses as to why all of this had occurred, but none of them addressed the obvious disorganization and miscommunication of the office staff. I ultimately, cancelled my appointment without rescheduling. If the office administration is indicative of the doctor, I'd only recommend Dr. Adickes to someone who wants a doctor who operates with the belief that his time is more important that yours. Dr. Adickes is the best. Would recommend to anyone. Bedside manner is impeccable and his medical staff are very friendly and polite. Please note, there will be a wait time so add an extra 30 to 45 minutes to your overall timeframe. Again, well worth it as you are dealing with one of the best in the world.

Dr. Adickes performed bilateral hip labrum repairs on me this December and February. He is one of the most competent doctors I have ever worked with and am grateful I had the opportunity for him to perform the surgeries on me. Of course, he is also my top choice to fix my two torn rotator cuffs as well - he is skilled in many major joints! I'm back to running and would recommend him to anyone - near or far! Dr. Adickes has great bed side manners. I thought he was very friendly and easy to talk to. He understood my condition and ended performing arthroscopic repair. I am still taking PT, but am healing well. I had another injury while healing and he also addressed it during one of my follow-up visits. His staff has always been friendly and helpful, even when I call and ask questions over the phone. The check-in desk is always busy, but seems efficient. I've never had to wait too long to see him, but on one visit he was running a little behind. I would recommend Dr. Adickes to anyone I know needing care under his specialty. My daughter is seeing Dr. Adickes for a torn ACL. The first visit we waited in the waiting room for 1.5 hours before being seen. Dr. Adickes was very friendly and had a great bedside manner. He made us both very comfortable. We went back for the pre op appointment and waited 45 minutes to see the physician's assistant for blood work. Again, she was very pleasant, but had to be prompted to offer any information regarding the surgery (time, exact location, patient instructions etc). The front desk staff is unorganized and rude. Every time I have called with a question they act like they are being put out to answer me, and I usually get put on hold abruptly and passed off to someone else. This could be avoided if everything were explained up front. I am only using this doctor because he came highly recommended, but if this type of service ever becomes necessary again, I will not return to this office.
