Truly a super Doctor, the man is good better than any ortho Dr. I have seen or heard of. Dam sure not a quitter

My journey has been long, but it would have been even longer and more difficult had it not been for Dr. Brinker, his team (Amy and Lisa), and Texas Orthopedic Hospital. In the fall of 2021, I broke my leg while on vacation in Central America, which was one month before my wedding. I had to receive emergency surgery there just so I could get on the airplane to come back home to Houston. Upon returning, I was recommended to go to any hospital for emergency care. My then-fiancé and I took a moment to consider this grave decision, and we had a feeling that not just any hospital could treat this special inquiry. We decided to research hospitals and doctors best known for rehabilitating and performing surgeries on bone injuries, and we came across Texas Orthopedic Hospital. Upon arriving, we were treated to the best care possible, and the emergency room team immediately recommended Dr. Brinker be the doctor for me. We read up on Dr. Brinker, and it was described that he treats “hopeless cases” and has performed thousands of Ilizarov surgeries—basically, the best of the best. We knew we were in good hands. We are so thankful this series of decisions led to my being treated by him, for it could have been way worse – I could have lost my leg or walked with a limp for the rest of my life. I broke both my tibia and fibula, and it was described that I broke them so bad that I had “put my leg in a blender and pressed the pulse button.” It took seven procedures and surgeries, along with intensive physical therapy, including pool therapy, at the hospital. I had a special structure placed on my leg called an Ilizarov apparatus, a specialized external fixator composed of rings and titanium and metal rods inserted into my leg. A titanium plate and screws were also inserted into my leg. Basically, I lived in pain, and we lived at the hospital. We got to know all the staff by name and were able to do everything we needed at this same location rather than having to go to multiple locations. There were times when I did question my progress and doubted my growth. How could I not? No position brought me comfort. A good night’s sleep was a thing of the past. Month after month went by, hospital stay after hospital stay, but then we started to see progress, slowly but surely. It was baby steps, but I progressed from a wheelchair to a walker to crutches to a boot to a cane to no cane at all. Dr. Brinker and his team were there with me every step of the way. All in all, it took 15 months. 15 long months. The longest of my life. I am sure we will look back at this time later in life, and it will seem like a blip in time. However, this was the most challenging time I have ever been through – mentally, physically, and spiritually. Now, I am back at work, working out in the gym again, and living my life with my now wife. Even though we had to postpone the wedding for a year, our goal was for me to walk and slightly dance at our wedding, which I proudly did, thanks to Dr. Brinker and the hospital. The healing of my leg was even more important because I use my leg for my work – I am a commercial truck driver, so not healing was not an option. We are so thankful we placed our trust in Dr. Brinker and would highly recommend him to anyone with a severe bone fracture. We honestly hope we never have to see him again, but we know whom we are turning to if we ever need expertise like this again. I hope my review helps others if they are considering Dr. Brinker and Texas Orthopedic Hospital.

Dr. Brinker is top notch. Very satisfied. He repaired my tibia plateau fracture 4 years ago. (My local drs. wouldn’t touch it)It healed perfectly. I had no problems or complications.

Dr. Brinker explain each step that he felt was need to move forward on handing a pending surgery. Even though the VA drop the ball on sending his office the CD with x-rays, cat scan with bone density. Hopefully He will have the information he needs on next appointment.

My daughter is only 13. Leading into her journey of a major surgery with her femur being surgically broken and rods, screws, then rotation - needless to say we were nervous and scared and all the feelings in between. Dr. Brinker - and his adoring personality - along with vast knowledge and just the right amount of confidence….. had us feeling optimistic and almost excited. Surgery day came - and with all the nervousness we felt - he made us feel at ease. Beforehand, during, and after we were made aware of what to expect. We contacted Mark because our Clinic website underwent a catastrophic crash and we thought we lost everything. My experience with Fondren Orthopedic Group was outstanding. After I sustained a serious collarbone fracture over the weekend, Dr. Brinker and his staff went above and beyond to work me in for evaluation on Monday and provided excellent care, advice, and treatment! I was concerned because the treatment options were complicated due to the nature of the fracture. However, Dr. Brinker offered a detailed analysis of the options and potential outcomes, and was very reassuring. I highly recommend this practice.

About 8 mos ago, I had a pretty bad fall that pulverized my right ankle (Dr. Brinker’s words). While Houston is a three hour drive from me, I’m so glad the decision was made to go to the Fondren Clinic and use Dr. Brinker. He was able to piece back together my ankle and then provide follow up care to get me on the road to recovery. I am now walking again, albeit with a limp, but with determination and physical therapy, I feel strongly that I will recover fully, thanks to Dr. Brinker and his expertise.

I needed to get a rod removed from my femur that had been in there 35 years.This rod Did not want to cooperate but Dr. Brinker did not give up and finally got it out,5 stars from me ????

Several years ago I had a bad accident I was told at a hospital in Baytown Tx. That they were going to have to amputate my leg above the knee. An intern took interest in my condition because I was 34yrs old, he felt that was too young. He had heard of an amazing Trauma doctor Dr. Mark Brinker. Of course if you know him then you know that he is intrigued by very hard cases. He saved my leg, I don't even limp anymore. He is indeed an amazing man and doctor. I was in the Fondren Orthopedic facility for a little over a month. The whole staff there was wonderful, very nice and really concerned and helpful. Dr. Brinker told me, the next time you wake up and are somewhat alert there will be Steak and Lobster for you and that is exactly what I woke up too but the most amazing part of it was he sat right there and ate dinner with me. On a review I read someone had said God sent him here for us. And he was so right. I wish I had enough letters left because I have so much more to say..

Dr. Brinker's years of experience on my personal issue is what brought me to TOH and his office . I have been through multiple surgeries on this issue , at another location , and since I have been seen and taken care of by Dr. B things I've noticed are overwhelming. Level of daily pain is reduced to a minimum during the healing process. Injury is progressing to the healing stage within the month ( post op ) unlike the 22 months prior . When no other doctor would/could help, Dr. Brinker took me under his care and took very good care of me. Not only is Dr. Brinker an outstanding surgeon but his team and the nurses at Texas Orthopedic Hospital are all wonderful!

I continue to be impressed with my surgeon, Dr. Mark Brinker as he cares for my ankles. He not only is an amazing surgeon but he also cares about the whole person. He is upbeat, encouraging and compassionate. Every staff member I have come in contact with at TOH has been so kind and respectful. I don’t know where they get their staff from but I always know I am receiving the very best care each person can give and that these folks love their jobs.

I was referred from Dr. Gombera to see Dr. Brinker and there are not enough words for this man. Dr. Brinker is amazing, and I’m blessed to call him one my doctors/surgeons. He spends time with every time you see him in clinic and you don’t feel rushed with him. He wants to make sure exactly will happen in the OR with him and what is going to happen next with your case. He wants you to ask questions if you have them. He said asking questions gets him thinking. He doesn’t take every case that he comes in contact with. He and his staff get back quickly with emergencies if you have one. His Physician Assistant {Amy} is the sweetest and you can tell that she loves her job and Dr. Brinker does too. They want to get you back to normal. I’m blessed to be a patient of Dr. Brinker’s. I would recommend Dr. Brinker over and all over again if needed someone like Dr. Brinker.

He is a great doctor/surgeon.

Dr. Brinker is the best. Plain and simple. He corrected a rotation in my femur that was causing my knee to dislocate and i had knee surgery by Dr. Barrett Brown and i am nothing but pleased. But to fix my knee Dr. Brinker had to cut my femur and rotate it and put a rod thru the middle and 5 screws im just now able to put weight on it and my thigh was barely even sore about 3 days post op. I had a really bad tibia break. Dr. Brinker was the only one willing to fix it. I had heard that Dr. Brinker is one of the best orthopedic surgeons in Houston. I am currently under his care and I have to say I think he is the BEST in Houston. After two surgeries my leg is healing very nicely. It was very bad. Dr Brinker is truly a miracle worker. My husband was told there was nothing that could be done for him and he just needed to understand he would not be the same after his injury. We met with Brinker who immediately identified the issue, called in other specialist to assist with other issues previously ignored and my husband is now fully functional. Mark Brinker performed my non-union clavicle surgery.

Dr. Brinker truly changed my life. He lengthened my femur an inch without having to use a big cage on the outside of my leg. I didn't know that kind of technology even existed. Dr. Brinker made me feel safe and comfortable with this invasive procedure, and I could not be happier with the results. I cannot recommend him enough.

I have been under Dr. Brinker's care since July 29, 2019 when I consulted him regarding my femur non-union. (I had undergone 3 previous surgeries without success after suffering the broken femur on Nov. 26, 2017.) After viewing the xrays and cat scan, Dr. Brinker very quickly knew exactly what the problem was and we made plans for my 4th surgery on August 29, 2019. Texas Orthopedic Hospital absolutely has their act together - everything from the pre-op tests and paperwork to the day of my surgery, it was an amazing difference from my experience back home. The surgery was successful, and I felt very well taken care of and that everyone did everything possible to be there for me every step of the way. I am doing quite well, and I am walking pain-free! I am emotional about Dr. Brinker, I admit! I remember commenting to my husband after our first visit that I had finally found a doctor who "was willing to take on the fight" with me to fix and heal my leg. The best of the best!

Dr. Brinker is amazing. He is extremely professional, caring, and was attentive to my situation. I was referred to him for a 5 month old non-healing fracture of my right forearm. Six days after my first appointment with him, he had me in surgery to fix my arm. Dr. Brinker’s follow-up care was great. It was frustrating for me, but I followed every ounce of his advice and 3 1/2 months later, my arm was completely healed! I highly recommend Dr. Brinker! He was the answer to my prayer.

I was referred to Dr Brinker from my surgeon where I live, out of town. I was involved in a very serious at highway speed, head-on collision on my motorcycle. The doctors in the ER did a wonderful job of saving my life and my limbs, but were very up front with me that it would take years and many more surgeries to get everything right. Fast forward 1.5 years and 2 surgery attempts to fix my humerus, the darn bone just would not heal, even after bone grafts and bone stimulators. My surgeon finally told me to go see Dr Brinker. He is a very efficient man which I respect, and he fixed me up with one go. I am now 6 months post-op, and with the help of a different type of bone-stim, my humerus is healed! His office really worked with me being an out-of-towner and I would recommend him to anyone who has a stubborn or infected fracture! The Fondren Group is great, and now I want to go to them to get my knee done!

I had a bad tibia plateau break. Dr. Brinker was straight forward about how serious my injury was and how hard it was going to be to get back to 100%. I did not like everything he said, but he was right and my care was exceptional. After a year I was exercising and doing everything I wanted to do. I would highly recommend Dr. Brinker.

Dr. Brinker has to be my favorite doctor of all time. He has gotten me through numerous surgeries to fix 2 difficult nonunions on my femur and tibia. He and his office manager, Lisa, are great people. He is very caring and a fantastic Orthopedic Surgeon. If you are having any orthopedic problems he is who you need to see.

I had a motorcycle accident years before and have had multiple surgeries to save my leg. The end result before I met Dr. Brinker was a tibia that had been previously infected and was crooked and almost an inch and a half shorter than my good leg. At my first appointment he looked at some x-rays and examined my leg, then he did some measurements and calculations. He then explained to me in a very matter of fact way exactly what he planned to do to fix my leg. He was so confident that I left there that day with hope and a plan. And today I have two good legs. Dr. Brinker is AMAZING! His office was able to get me to see him in within 48 hours of suffering a broken tibia and fibula in an accident. I had surgery that saved my leg the next day. Dr.Brinker is one of a kind in his Orthopedic Profession. I was on the verge of losing my leg due to a non union tibia plateau. He surgically installed the Illizarov external fixator and despite how frightening the contraption is, it is the reason I am walking today. Thank you again for your professionalism, and optimistic attitude throughout the process.

Dr. Brinker is an outstanding physician/surgeon. I highly recommend his services to anyone needing orthopedic care. In 2016 I was diagnosed with a bone infection which affected my right ankle. I met Dr Brinker in February 2018. I had a non-union fracture of my left Tibia. Dr Brinker is a very intelligent and experienced surgeon. He operated on me March 6, 2018 and placed a rod inside my left Tibia. We had a few post op visits with Dr Brinker and every one was a learning experience for us. Our last visit was September 6, 2018. Dr Brinker gave me a clean bill of health! I would recommend Dr Brinker to anyone. On a scale of 1 to 10, I give Dr Brinker a 20!!!!

After fracturing my Tibia plateau & patella from a fall I was fortunate enough to have been referred to Dr. Brinker. I am 69 years old & questioned if I would return to my active life style. I am happy to report that I can do everything I was doing before accident. I remember Dr. Brinker telling me it was a team effort & I had to do my part & follow his instructions to the letter. Being off my leg was maddening but the results were gratifying & now keeping up with my three young grandsons.

I was involved in a very serious motorcycle accident that smashed my left tibia plateau and several other fractures at different areas after my original doctor figured out that i needed a specialist i was referred to Doctor Brinker and thank god i got to him i was being told that amputation was possible from previous dr and after Doctor Brinker saw me he had no doubt he could fix my leg and save it after several surgeries i am putting half my weight on it and should be walking soon! I would highly recommend Dr. Brinker to my family and friends. In fact I already have. I was referred to Dr. Brinker when I was diagnosed with a mal-union / non-union from a displaced femoral neck (hip) fracture Dr. Brinker and his staff quickly worked me in for an initial assessment and then for surgery to repair the non-union. He closely followed my progress after surgery. Dr. Brinker and his staff provided excellent medical care and I had great results!

My daughter was told she would need to have her leg amputated at the knee. Dr. Brinker performed surgery using a halo. He was able to save the leg and ankle. She is walking correctly for the first time in five years. Thank You Dr. Brinker!

After being hit by a drunk driver I fractured both my fibula and tibia. After having several surgeries elsewhere, my bone would not heal so I came to Dr. Brinker to correct my non-union. I did some research and found that Dr. Brinker has handled numerous cases like mine. He was confident and knowledgeable about what needed to be done in order to get my back on my feet and he did just that. He is the best at what he does and I would recommend no one but him. His staff is great as well.

My 13 yr old daughter had a tib/fib compound fracture in April 2016, that later became an infected nonunion by Dec 2016 breaking a 2nd time. She had multiple surgeries from previous Drs. We found Dr Brinker when we didn't know what else to do in May 2017. He is very honest, knowledgeable, caring, and thorough. His staff is very helpful. Very thankful after such a lengthy time, she is healing very well and walking!!! I definitley recommend Dr. Brinker!! Thank you for taking care of our girl!!!

After a car accident left my leg "messed up", Dr. Brinker was recommended. I wish that he had been my original doctor! I saw 6 other doctors & they either would not touch me or wanted to amputate. My leg is no longer twisted, crooked, or still broken. I love, love, love Dr. Mark Brinker & all of his staff! He fixed & saved my leg! I need more than just 5 stars..... I highly recommend Dr. Brinker!!!!

My husband sought out Dr. Brinker after a traumatic accident because he was the best surgeon to do the job. And he is! We wait unusually long to see him but he is always so pleasant that you kind of forget you waited so long to see him. He still sees my husband annually and takes care of him and this I appreciate.
