I had ongoing on/off numbness in my hands and feet and had been to several specialists without success. Dr. Bednar ran several tests and is the only doctor who has helped me so far. I’m so thankful for her! My symptoms are almost negligible since age discovered the cause of my nerve entrapment!

I was a patient at UPMC Shenango Valley ED with onset of leg paralysis, numbness & ataxia, given a diagnosis of acute transverse myelitis due to MS, though I am only 19 years old. This came as a total shock to myself & family, Dr. Marlene Bednar arrived for an emergency consult, thoroughly examined me, answered all of my questions & treated me with compassion, tenderness & dignity. She immediately started a course of IV steroids & now I can walk again! I'll be starting long-term MS therapy soon

An e!xcellent neurologist who provided compassionate care and accurate diagnosis

She was rude and condescending to my daughter who had been referred to her for possible MS. At one point she and her nurse were discussing my daughter as if she wasn't in the room (my daughter is 29 without mental defect). I said excuse me but my daughter is feeling as though you are calling ger a liar. The doctor's reply was, then I don't think I can help you. My daughter walked out in frustration. I then said, if you were to let her know you want to work with her to find the problem...

Very positive experience with Dr. Bednar, a kind, caring professional who accurately diagnosed me and ordered the tests I required!
